Black team could have scored a goal but the referee blew his whistle for a foul. Once the referee makes a decision like that it can't be undone.

Thats pretty cruel. He was sure the number 3 had the ball so advantage was lost but it slipped by and fell nicely to the striker by which time he had already committed to the whistle to bring the ball back. With that said he's still admitting it as a mistake. Hats off to him

The referee blew the whistle for the foul because he thought the defender had won the ball, but he miscontrolled. If the attacking team had scored it wouldn't have counted because he had already blown the whistle. It's unfortunate tbh though, because it's hard to expect the defender to mess up his control there.
That's the kind of ref you want on the pitch, one that acknowledges and likely learns from their mistakes instead of hiding behind the rules and feigning infallibility.
Ain’t this the difference between passion and pay check, I don’t know what’s more graceful the ref for acceptance or the players for not making it a problem.
The most relieved man here is the striker that missed. He 100% went for goal, you wouldn't ever deliberately miss, so he's grateful, otherwise everyone is talking about his miss.

Ref made a mistake but I love his humility. No ego at all. Attacker missed the shot anyway. No harm done.
