    what do you think about LaneBreak so far?

      Frankly disappointed. It feels like something cool from a hackathon, but pretty under-developed.
      - Lackluster graphics (particularly compared to, say, Supernatural or Synth Riders or other games I've enjoyed on my Quest VR headset)
      - No multiplayer? This really surprised me! Peloton has well enough stats from zillions of us to know what 'level' we are and could have easily hosted lobbies to group folks in teams of 4-6. Imagine having a split screen or even competing on the same screen together... with you having to increase cadence or resistance to pass up a competitor in another lane. Heck, you could even tap playful or supportive emojis to your competitors!
      More broadly, it's just when I compare this against other fitness/rhythm games, it doesn't excel in any area. No warmth/humor/fun from a trainer (like regular Peloton or Supernatural), no ability to choose a specific song like with Synth Riders or Audio Trip. And no bonuses for staying on beat.
      I hope they'll substantially improve this and I appreciate and admire that they're making an effort to shake things up. But I just expected something more impressive out of the gate.
      (all that said, I am sympathetic to their challenge here. I mean, honestly, it's super-tough to make a great game when you have no physical input buttons whatsoever!)

    I took a 20min pop essential lane Break today and loved it! There was less recovery times so I really had to push myself, I love how there is another way to ride that is different from the instructed class

    so much potential... They could easily added multiplayer mode given how many people are riding at any given moment. Or even given me few shadows of similar fitness level to race against.

    Excited to try this. Seems like Peloton has a brilliant concept on their hands, but needs more gaming minded people on board their development. Lots of potential. Gamers working on their health and fitness will absolutely love this but you're opening up the floodgates to criticism from that demographic. This is a good thing though. Take notes on how Dance Dance Revolution & Beat Saber handle their score builds with multipliers, and their beginner, intermediate, expert rankings.

    Totally agree with your points here. I think progression and daily/weekly/etc. challenges would be a great incentive to not only play LaneBreak more, but get on the bike in general for those finding monotony in the other modes. One issue I noticed, maybe because I'm using a Bike, not a Bike+, was that using the knob to control my lane was an occasional issue. Other than having to twist the knob every 20 or so seconds to hit a new lane, my bike has always had a 'stall point' around 34 resistance, so a knob turn at 34 needs more turn than one at a lower/higher point (seems like this is the only point on mine). So occasionally I would be zig-zagging in a lane, sometimes out of a lane and missing points because of it. I'm not sure if this is available, but with auto-resistance on Bike+ it would be nice to be able to tap a lane and have the bike bring the resistance up to the mid-point of that lane. I definitely see myself playing this more though!

    I reactivated my Peloton membership, which I canceled after having had it since 2015 because I have been using my Ergatta instead, just to try this. While I enjoyed it, I did not find it to be as engaging as the gamified workouts on the Ergatta, and like you said, the game doesn’t give you much incentive to keep coming back for more because levels and scores are limited.

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes Ergatta uses games within fully fleshed out programs, so it is much more likely to keep people coming back long term (including me... love Ergatta and Peloton!)

    After the ride I jumped in to Strava only to find my points were nowhere to be found. I went to the app and no luck there. I’d like to see my points, highest points, etc. it was there when I finished my ride but once I left it seems to be gone. And no age brackets.

    I finally was able to try this game. It's kind of neat, but it's not much of a game. As you say--it has zero skill involved. Not much replay value because there really aren't any goals and it's pretty hard to totally fail at it. It seems like it hasn't changed much in a year? A lot of potential here, though. And it's overall very polished.

    I did the tutorial and tried to use this feature on my bike. No matter how hard I pedaled or how much resistance I put on, I did not change lanes. Also, even though I went through some gates, my score stayed at 0. Am I forgetting to do something or is this some sort of a glitch?

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a bug or some sort of connection error. You should be able to easily change lanes by moving the resistance knob… no pedaling required.

    If you're wanting a new work out adding every week, you've got no hope. Peloton removed a tonne of scenic rides and replaced them with hardly any, and they haven't added any new ones for months.

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scenic rides are a whole different thing, much easier to make to LaneBreak rides... and given Peloton has put up 18 new LaneBreak workouts so far over the past 5 weeks, I don't see how there is 'no hope'

    • @gavingrant5363
      @gavingrant5363 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ConnectTheWatts Let's see how many there are in 3 months. It's easy to release a bunch just after launch. Expecting this to continue long term is the 'no hope' part. It will very much depend upon the analytics for adoptions and drop off rates. By putting it under the 'more' category, they've risked making a niche thing, just like the scenic rides and just ride. Which is why it probably won't be getting many more work outs after the initial 'launch' period. They are more likely to develop different 'games' if they really are trying to compete with Zwift. Also, it will be interesting on how limiting the older Android tablet is moving forward with new games. Whether, they will make new content only available for the Bike+

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      fair points, 👍 tablet tech is less an issue since they are using Google's white-label version of Stadia... will see! Testing out Ergatta's beta for live racing on Friday so excited to see multiplayer options arriving... fun stuff!

    Lanebreak? More like Lamebreak. Its childish and not what Peleton is for. I bet the instructors are over the moon with it - not!
