I believe the sheath design is to carry the Machette as you would a Cutlass. It would hang handle pointing out from under your arm about at waste or belt level. 🤔
I use the Ontario machete marked U.S. for brush and tree trimming here on the farm. Picked it up at a surplus store and it works great. Who doesnt want to own a sword lol
This is how I’ve always made the distinction as to what qualifies as a sword vs a machete as well. If there’s no grind profile (except the edge) and no distal tapering, it’s almost always something that’s just been stamped and sharpened. I’m just impressed it’s actually 1/8” stock! That’s a pretty beefy machete!
The neighbors may think it weird if they see you using this 2 handed to chop down some branches outside, a great price for a nice-looking machete, thanks for the video, Tobias.
I've seen this one around and been curious about it. I mostly use their kukri machetes for practical use around the house and property. When I wanna go crazy, I choose their Chinese war sword machete.
I was looking at the Chinese Sword but heard some negative things about it. I’d love to hear your thoughts. It looks cool but I heard the blade is too thin.
@@KnifeChatswithTobias I love mine, its grown to become my favorite Cold Steel machete. It is a bit heavy and large, but it generates some great swinging power. Plus it just looks cool. I think some people buy it expecting a real sword or some heavy duty chopper, not treating it like a machete. Its definitely not meant to chop down hardwood. I will say Cold Steel does 1055 steel the right way, as their machetes and tomahawks show. If you're interested in some hard use, check out Choirboyz Outdoors, who did a hard use video on the Chinese war sword about a year or so ago. Definitely held up.
I used to go to Cold Steel's parking lot sales. One time, I picked up 4 of the Thai Two-Handed Machete's for $5 apiece. They didn't come with a sheath though. I kept 2 of them and gave the other 2 to my sons. I still have mine. Not a bad purchase at all. Over a few years I managed to pick up quite a few goodies from those sales. Too bad they're a thing of the past. : )
That is one cool machete Tobias. It seems to me though that it should come with instructions. I would be very intimidated if a person I was about to rob pulled one of these out.
Joex does destruction tests and the cold steel machetes hold up the best. Btw I have been experimenting with using machetes as stabbing weapons and they are surprisingly good.
I can see Cold Steel holding up well in a destruction test. But many of their Machetes are more expensive than something from Marbles or a modern Camillus machete. And on the other end, I can see some of the Cold Steel Machetes doing better or just as good as some of the more expensive offerings from TOPS or ESEE. I may not be a big Cold Steel fan but I do respect the brand. The company knows what it is doing and does it well. I do think some of the large machetes with a clip point should prove pretty good at both chopping and stabbing.
Seriously doubt it. I have better machetes for my needs. What it does have is a good distance. If I was in rattle snake or copperhead country, then I could see it as a safer alternative than a normal machete. Could also be safer to clear out briars and or poison ivy, maybe. But even in that case of any of that, I think I'd just keep my distance. Definitely a bad option for home defense as there is no real space to swing it. It does have an intimidation factor but wear I live there is no way law enforcement would think you're carrying this for self defense.
Hi Tobias:
Nobody does the big stuff like Cold Steel. A great choice for opening junk mail in the neighborhood post office.
You can’t leave the house without one of those. 👍
Makes cleaning the yard up fun. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I'm glad Skip let that one out of his hands long enough for you to do a review!😆Cheers, buddy!
Do NOT let Skip anywhere near it, or no bear will be safe.
Alas, Skip has already slobbered on it!

Mine arrived minutes ago! Just unboxed it and it’s totally cool! My thanks to Skip! Now going to finish watching this video 👍

That’s a long sword!
Good stuff as always, Tobias👊🏻

Killer choice but I'm 💯 on the belief that all ColdSteel are a killer choice😂😂
That's not a knife. _now this is a knife...
Now that is a knife! That is a wicked machete, great choice for getting through the brush. Live Long Prosper and Collect Your Own Way!

You have a great variety to share
God bless
But does it have a deep carry pocket clip?
just wondering if you passed a strong magnet down the handle to see where the tang ends?
okay never mind, i asked that about 5 minutes into the video

A great review Tobias, but you are in real danger of actually liking Cold Steel products if you aren't careful!

Ottimo video, la migliore recensione e accurata descrizione di questo favoloso machete 👍

You actually planning on carrying that thing?

Very cool!
That’s an E.D.C
LOL!
