Your an inspiration….on the track, off the track….just be you…watching you, I started living again…in my retirement I’m doing what I put away 40 years ago… to raise a family and career….riding dirt bikes again…..
Glad your getting your health back…
Just want to send love and prayers
    Thank you Ryan

Ryan, you are still “Ryno” in your experience, knowledge, Spirit and teaching! Your Love and Passion for People and our Sport is alive. Keep riding, just take it down a notch. It took me 10 years to learn how to ride without breaking every bone in my body after being a Pro in the 70’s and turning 40 20 years later. It’s hard, but Ryno can!

I've been where you're at Ryan, no where close to racing at your level...but I completely understand. It's time to focus your direction in life somewhere else that is fulfilling for you.. Sounds like you've got it figured out! Teaching is something that comes naturally for you. Stick with what makes you feel happy!!

I feel your pain bro. I just quit my job after 30 years I'm tired of living my life for other people, it's time to live life for me. You said it perfectly, I'm scared to death like you, but I'm a fighter as well and damnit and I'm not gonna quit until I succeed. It's time to write a new chapter in life and at our age its scary, but doable. I wish you the best in your recovery and keep fighting to find that inner peace with yourself. Godspeed🤟

I hope you fully recover. I've been there... I have C5-C6, titanium artificial disc, and a bone fusion between C6-C7. I was paralyzed from the neck down for a few hours (yes, it was scary, just being a "head"). 15 years later, I still have pain in my right arm and some weakness, so when you said you couldn't move your left side, I was like oh man, I know that feeling. You have a LOT of people who love you and wish you the best. Ryno Power 4Ever 👍
PS: Oh, I have the same exact scare... a badge of survival.

Hey Ryan. I just found your vids on YT. Really great info! Thanks for giving so much. Forgive me, but you are new to me. I never followed MX back in the day, much, but always thought it was the coolest thing. And still today, I don't really follow it, but respect the hell out of those that do it. I like woods riding, myself. I am a 61 year old "Returning Rider". Who started riding at age 50 "returning" to the sport after 30 years. There are lots of us out there. I became obsessed with it in short order. I am a rec trail rider. Not fast, but not too slow either. Always fearful of getting hurt, so I'm conservative and probably wear too much gear, as I have learned. 2020 came and we rode our ass off. I was having the best year of my life. Then at very end of the 18th weekend riding end of August. Day 3, 1 mile away, from the end, I caught a tree and sent me down a hill and fell of the bike into another tree and folded my left leg backwards. I have a pic of the bottom of my left boot sole from my chin-mounted Gopro. Now you get it. TPF Surgery, bad doctors good doctor, 12 weeks no weight bearing, pt, pt ,pt 18 months later 80% function is back, feels like shit. Starting to ride again and... Now the other knee... 2022 will tell the tale. So I am faced with your same dilemma that you spoke of at the end. Glad to hear your thoughts on it. It's Really a hard thing just to consider, let alone, go through. Sounds like your doing great though. I'm feeling your pain. Best of luck and blessings, Ryan.

Very introspective, killing your "self" is the hardest thing a person can do. It must be 10 times harder for a driven professional athlete. Slowing down your body doesn't mean slowing down your mind or what you can accomplish. Put into the universe what you want to receive back. Start with kindness, love, and build others up. That same energy will come back to you. Heal fast and thanks for sharing.

We have had our differences you and I on safety, I have called you out on what is safe and how to be safe in this sport, how to be educated and how to minimise injuries and still be the best you can.
I am not going to stick it to you, that’s been done, by this injury.
Just stoked to see you up and walking and okay and being a humble person, I have been where you have and worse and until anyone has been in a neck brace lying on that stretcher hearing the medic ask those questions, the ride in the van or in my case the helicopter or been through this and that close to the end, they won’t understand, you are luckier than most, took me 3 years to get back to where you got back to in a few weeks, I will never be 100% again, I have head pains, neck pain, sleep issues 12 years on, I still ride, sometimes race, for fun.
Anyways just wanted to say heal up, stay humble, it changes you, but you can make some good out of it, especially in your position, If anything don’t make decisions on anything to quick, heal and be with family friends and enjoy life, be good to them, good to see you drop the crazy persona though. One Ronnie Mac is enough for this world. Happy trails and healing vibes, hate to see anyone go through this, but you are a warrior and you’ll get through it as you are showing, good luck Ryno🤘

Hay bail or not, I can't help but think that the crash was due to that old Honda's crappy ergonomics, brakes, suspension, power delivery, etc. I highly doubt this would've happened on his new CRF. Much more likely to pull out of a situation like that on newer technology.

🌵As we age our bones become more brittle and our bodies less flexible. A young pro rider’s decision to NOT wear a neck brace is completely different than a weekend warrior or vet rider. I think Villopoto has proven you can keep good body position and be competitive. In fact, he still wears a neck brace to this day while riding. I hope everyone can stop and learn something from this. Kris Keefer followed Ryno’s advice on losing the knee braces. Then he blew out his ACL. Yes, riding without knee braces feels better….until it doesn’t. Same with a neck brace. It would take a lot for the guy who swore off neck braces to maybe rethink them, at least for Vet riders. Injuries are our best teachers. Heal up..🏆

    • @JohnHowerton137

What's your point? How many people with neck braces have broken backs and been paralyzed? How many dead? How many people crashed and broke an arm because of their chitty bobble head neck brace riding position? How many people this weekend got concussions while wearing helmets? Shit happens, especially when a motorcycle lands on your head.

    • @cencoast_7.340
      @cencoast_7.340 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@JohnHowerton137 There’s some irony there John. Nowhere in there did I say it was caused by this or that. There is scientific and real world proof that neck braces can significantly increase the likelihood of being able to walk away from a possibly devastating crash. When you walk the line of talking people out of safety gear you’re going to get to positive AND negative feedback. While we’re at it exactly how many people have broke their arms due to the “chitty bobblehead riding position”? This I’m curious..

    • @JohnHowerton137
      @JohnHowerton137 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@cencoast_7.340 I don't know, I was asking you. How many have popped clavicles and ended up dead? Surely all this "neck brace science" has done the risk analysis on this?
Of course there's positive an negative feedback, everyone attaches emotion to safety. People have been quick to point out that he broke his neck because he's wasn't wearing/anti-neck brace. It's getting pretty fcking annoying and possibly the stupidest conclusion someone could reach.
Could it have saved him? Maybe. Could it have caused him eat chit in the whoops the day before instead of recovering and killed him as he hit the tower 4 gear pinned on a 250? Just as likely. Motocross is dangerous.

    • @maverick2242

@@JohnHowerton137 Tell us, that’s a stupid statement, do you know, or is it something you have heard from someone who heard it from someone, what BS.
I have been where Rhyno is I have broken my neck and way fckn worse, I rode again and I rode with a neck brace and never will I ride without one.
Stupid is what stupid hears. You are an idiot if you believe that crap, find some proper information back it up, I have crashed post injury and crashed Moore than once in my neck brace and from experience I have never had a concussion and actually came away impressed every time. Like everything there is poor comparisons, very poor and ignorance, ignorance re proper setup, wear the proper compatible helmets.
I feel for Rhyno, I am not a fan of his stance before his neck injury, but I feel for him because I have been through this, in some ways it’s good to see him being humbled and showing some emotion, hard lesson, but he’s on a new ride.
But wise up dude. be educated and listens to real facts, not fiction, you want to take risks don’t wear a helmet, stupid argument…

@@maverick2242 here is what I know; there will never be a study on neck braces and their potential pitfalls. Why? Because they cost millions of dollars and there is nothing to be gained for whoever funded it. There are also far to many variables to consider in motorcycle crashes. It's not like a car where you're strapped into a roll cage and there's a generally good idea from where the forces will be encountered. Such a study for the huge set of variables for motorcycles would be insanely expensive to set up if even possible.
Anyone with eyes can see neck braces cause a compromised riding position. I don't care how fast Tim Gajser is with one. He's an outlier, not the rule and who's to say he wouldn't be faster and safer without one. I'm not saying that in all cases braces couldn't be fitted properly with helmets etc.. to work better like you said, but how often will that be done? It is a generic and poor prescription at best. I see this stuff EVERY DAY.
Maybe gymnasts should wear them too since they don't cause a compromise in the way the body moves?
My day job is biomechanics and I'm known to be the best at what I do. I work with medical professionals 6 days a week. I fix crap all day long that narrow minded science generically says works. I don't blindly follow anything, especially "science."
Unfortunately "science" is a word people throw around these days to make themselves sound smart or to keep people from questioning poor ideas.
I 100% understand why you're passionate on the subject, but the burden of proof is on you/them not me. You/them are the ones selling something, even if that something is safety. I debunk this kind of stuff all day long.

Poor guy has been chasing a ghost his whole life. Everytime things start to look good for him , fate kicks the chair out from under. Please just do MX lessons and less about your life. One your good at, the other your not!

I’m gonna start trying with you and I’m ten. If you have any suggestions on what I can eat I’m a little picky. Is grilled chicken, steak, pasta with meat balls ok? Btw my dad is George.
