    The problem with gear reviews with someone as good as Pete is he makes everything sound amazing. Then you buy one and get it home and talentlessly go "Fnurrrwerrrr" and think "....oh." :P

    Great demo Pete. Clip toggle - Up is combo. Middle is Yellow LED. Down is Germanium diode. Great pedal really well made.

    The knob tweaking with the loop worked really well, such a great way to show off a pedals range.

    Excellent demo and playing as usual, Pete! Really like the looped guitar with the live tone-adjustment. It really helps demonstrate the range of tones in a tactile way. Keep up the awesome work!

    Neat idea with the looper - found it to be a handy way to tweak the knobs on my own pedals as well (helps to focus on listening while retaining my playing touch). Keep up the good work, Pete!

    Using a loop is useful for setting up tones. You're not engaged in the playing, so you can be more objective. It's especially good in lower-volume situations where the acoustic pick attack might color what you hear.

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      exactly!

    • @norwester7018
      @norwester7018 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree 100%. THat objectiveness is SUCH a different feeling from playing "in the heat of the moment". I'm self-taught and a looper (years ago) followed by some basic recording gear early on was one of the biggest tools I've added to my learning arsenal and ones I still use today almost as much as I do acoustics (to keep my hand's strong and fast on the electrics) and other instruments to keep my mind fresh with new ideas or to keep me from repeating myself too much/constantly. Great observations.

    6:32 the tone looses width, but "gains drive" :-). Seems like the original dirty amp sound would serve a track better, but with the Clean amp it yields opposing results to me.

    great overdrive!sound like a drive mosfet!

  • @jayceburns8246
    @jayceburns8246 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Takes up to 36v. Right? Or does it double what you put into it? 9v gives you 18v or 18v gives you 36?

  • @CP-mt1st
    @CP-mt1st 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pete, wouldn't a looper put out a buffered signal effecting the sound of the overdrive? I know people say this is true for germanium fuzz but I've found it effects most drive pedals negatively. Anyways just a thought on why most looper pedal demos don't sound quite right. Thanks man, love the reviews!

    Between the Chime and Iron which would you recommend for a more riff-based rock kinda vibe? Not really playing solos, but I'm using a J. Rockett Archer Ikon and I'm looking for something with a little more umph.

      This pedal really is priced great. It's hand built with premium caps and components and quite versatile. 200 is about the price of the average boutique, but for that little extra you do get quite a bit of bonuses

    10k guitar into a 5k amp played by a session and touring world class guitarist. Pretty much makes the pedals capabilities and tones irrelevant. No one else will get anywhere near these tones in a practical hobbies application. I try to search for videos of people playing through a regular amp and guitar with only intermediate ability at least it’s more realistic

    • @pettyjohnelectronics
      @pettyjohnelectronics 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sweetness, presence, grit and a bit of natural compression... if you stack the boost and gain knob you can get it into low gain fuzz territory actually! Pete's playing his gear pretty clean for the most part!

    Don't have a Facebook account so I'm going to ask you here. Who are your favourite Canadian guitarists? If you've answered in a video maybe you can just point meet to it rather than answering again. You're probably a very busy guy.
