When you shower all the bacteria from your body gets into the wound. If you put a small latex glove on the foot while taking a shower it will keep the dressing and wound dry/clean keep the fingers and thump part of the glove on top of your foot and try to angle the toes up a little.
... my doctor said after 24 hours it didn't need gauze anymore, and that I just needed to do epsom salt foot baths for a few days and would be good. It seems like it is okay so far, it kind of just scabbed up and they prescribed me antibiotics right after the procedure and that's been about it.
What happens if the person foot sweats? The gauze could get soaked, maybe not much but still wet. Any suggestions or recommendations after ingrown toenail removal. I asked because i heard you say to keep it dry and clean.
Had toenail removal. My gauze is stuck to my toe bed, ugh. Put ointment on it, still stuck. Soaked in epsom bath, still stuck. Trimmed away all but stuck part, put more ointment on , hoping overnight the gauze will be ready to pull off.
Can I wear a band-aid instead? If I use the gauze, my shoes end up being a little tight, or the gauze falls off at night when I sleep, exposing my toe in the process.
about 6 months ago i crushed my toe and ripped the whole nail off, i used gayze and a lot of tape and slept with socks on and just wore open toed shkes
Most of our patients have minimal to no pain after these procedures. You are numbed during the procedure and the numbing will wear off in about 4-6 hours. If the patient for some reason has any discomfort, we suggest Tylenol or Motrin.
My gauze is stuck, I've tried soaking in water/saline solution but it's still stuck and it's painful when I tug at it. Any tips of getting it off please?
@@rainsophiataa2404 I just got it out last night, I soaked it in saline solution (warm water + salt + betadine) around 3 times a day for 15 minutes each and putting vaseline on it overnight. I made sure that the gauze was still wet from the saline solution before putting vaseline.

A great thing to do is everytime you change your bandage to soak the toe in warm water with epsome salt

If you had a full nail removal it'll take 3 weeks at least for it to heal. And the nail would come after a few months. Do not overexert yourself.
