I had the same issue p0430 I changed the bank 2 sensor 2 o2 sensor . I got a po159 bank 2 sensor 2 slow response my battery died so I had the change the battery . It’s been 2 days I haven’t gotten a code yet if it comes back on I’ll try and oem o2 if I get the p0430 again I’ll do the cat. Thanks for the video bro!
Had P0430 and another code I forget on my 2017 Ridgeline. Replaced down stream O2 sensor on Bank 2, code came back. Took it to dealer, replaced fuel injectors. Code came back after 6 months, on and off. Waited too long to go back to dealer under work warranty. Replaced the UP stream O2 sensor last week. P0430 came back. Now thinking of doing this. Exciting!..
Just a FYI the aftermarket cats are not the best. If you can get a dealer one. Try to do that. Or get the o2 extender to put on the o2 sensor. That will help if they can fit
@@AJIMPORTS Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I'm holding off on the O2 extender simply because the light doesn't bother me as much (I was able to pass inspection this year) as I like to problem solve. I want to know what is wrong. I think it may have started with the faulty software for which Honda had a bulletin. That got patched, but I believe it caused the fuel injectors to misfire and it may have snowballed from there. I'm in the middle of attempting to do what you showed on the video. At this point I'm not getting enough leverage to loosen the bolts. Frustrating, but will try again tomorrow.
Just took out the Catalytic Converter. I was hoping I could find some shortcuts, so I wouldn't have to do all the work you did, but no, it ended up being exactly like you showed it... I can see the honeycomb and there's no obvious melting or damage, but a powdery residue is present on the upstream side of the Cat. More comes out with some knocking. I'll wash it and put it back in to see if it helps. Worst case, I'll have to do it again and buy a new Cat. Thanks for the great video. I wouldn't have done this without your help.
@pstrzel maybe you can look for a used cat or make sure you don't have a exhaust leak (wishful thinking). Hope washing it out and maybe spacing out the o2 sensor will help.
@@AJIMPORTS Mine looks exactly like the Dorman ones that sell for $475 in Autozone, which I can afford, except that mine seems to have a missing rubber gasket (I looked around thinking it just fell off, but no). I wonder if that was the reason for the code. Edit: I'm referring to the round gasket included with new Cats that I assume goes on the down stream end, but you don't seem to have one either, so... dunno.
No. Beside this issue nothing else was wrong with this car. But Injectors and carbon build up are a big issues with these car. But I would start with a gas cap and checking to see if you have a vacuum leak in the engine bay. Even autozone does the free code reading if your car has a check engine light. That will help in a direction of the repair
Hi. Can you give me a hint? A message came up on the dashboard "emission System problem" I read errors p2096 and p2270 honda pilot 2017. Internet says similar problem although there is no extraneous sound. Can you tell me what could be the most common? And maybe the problem is that I poured injector cleaning fluid into the tank? How much is this estimated to cost at least roughly?! And I don't understand everything, I use a translator. Thank you.
the codes are saying the system is too lean. Try using high octane gas. if that does not work, you have to use a scan tool to see if the o2 sensor is working correctly or going bad.
@@AJIMPORTSthank you. Quick question. How many miles did the pilot have? Mines only had 97K and it’s a 2016. I didn’t think I even had that many miles on it.
I would recommend getting oem. These did get rid of the code. But it comes on randomly for a day and goes away. Before it would stay on even if you clear it. It would come back on asap.

The code came back! I took it to the dealer and it’s the injectors covered under warranty . 😬

I put in some aftermarket cats and they failed in 4 weeks. Were the aftermarket parts you ordered California emissions compliant?
I got it from rockauto. Don't recall the emission compliant. But so far it's working.
You can reuse metal gaskets they are made for it
How are the aftermarkets cats now that it's been 6+ momths
Still the same issue. Every one In a while the code will randomly pop up but goes away. But it was still able to pass state inspection
@@AJIMPORTS the aftermarket cats are 500 - 700 Canadian in my area. I called Honda and they said a new cat with them is 2200 + tax....
Might want to look into a used oem one. Maybe someone parting out a car
@@AJIMPORTS oh yes I'm looking into that too

How was this a fix for P0430 ?
The cat for p0430 is on the fire wall is t it ?
Google to confirm. But bank 2 is the front and bank 1 is the firewall side. P0430 is Below Threshold (Bank 2).
On my 18 pilot i did the same thing problem solved
Where did you get the aftermarket cat?
Rockauto.com
