Ya but I gotta say season 3 was one of the seasons that he tried to stay the most distant. Because he knew she was with Stefan. All he wanted is her to stay alive. While I believe Elena genuinely cared for him more than he cared for her. That’s my opinion.

Damon does have the best lines out of all three series. His delivery is humorous and yet at the same time just being brutally honest. I started watching the 3 series in reverse order. I first watched Legacies, and then learned that The Originals was the predecessor of Legacies, then learned that The Vampire Diaries was the predecessor to the Originals. So now I'm into season 5 of The Vampire Diaries. It's neat to see some of the characters carry through all three series, such as Rachael and Rick. They did an excellent job in keeping the three series connected and fluid from one series to the next.
