    The following method is based on the recipe from La Bodeguita del Medio; the Cuban bar infamous for making amazing Mojito's since around 1942.
    INGREDIENTS
    * 60mL White Rum
    * 30mL Fresh Lime Juice
    * 25mL Sugar Syrup (1:1)
    * 6-8 Mint Leaves
    * 60mL Soda
    DIRECTIONS
    1. Tear and clap the mint leaves to release the oils
    2. Add the mint to a hi-ball glass
    3. Add the white rum, fresh lime and sugar syrup
    4. Fill the hi-ball with ice
    5. Add a dash of soda
    6. Stir thoroughly

    Good recipe, me and my wife enjoy these so much, as we have like 40+ feet of mint growing everywhere all over our front and backyard.. It started out with a little itty bitty bunch I planted and now it just spread everywhere lol, we have so much we even supply our neighbors with it and a local supermarket as well..

  • @vandelay_industries

    Absolutely spot on.
    No undissolved sugar, no shredded mint, no large clumps of lime pulp getting slurped up, just nice clean flavors and a beautiful looking drink. And it's extremely fast to make consistently.
    This is the only way bartenders make the mojitos in our bars. The only difference is we put double the amount of mint (I'm of the philosophy mojitos should be solidly minty, there's hardly anything more disappointing than an under minty mojito) and we firmly press down on the mint once it's in the glass (without muddling it breaking the leaves) and the garnishing is ofc a bit more elaborate.

  • @BlissBatch
    @BlissBatch 4 ปีที่แล้ว +289

    How much mint should be in a mojito?
    *Most Bartenders:* "A full mint leaf seems a bit excessive, so I'm going with one half of a small leaf. You don't want to actually taste the mint in this sparkling limeade."
    *Steve:* "I have acquired one-third of the world's supply of mint for this one drink."

Along with fresh banana trees and papaya trees, and chili trees of all kinds..

    I prefer a vigorous stir of the syrup, lime juice, mint, and rum, before adding the ice and soda, and stir only a few times after adding them. That way you can get a even stir, releasing the mint flavor while still maintain a nice fizz from the soda.
