This ending is achieved after:
• Choosing to NOT save BASIL
• NOT picking up the STEAK KNIFE in SUNNY's kitchen

This ending spells out "You fucked up" and the sirens are just rubbing salt in the wound.
I thought the exact thing on my first playthrough.

@@hoiboi4878 No the ending doesn't literally spell out "You fucked up", it was a figure of speech. I was saying that this is pretty much the worst possible ending you could get.
Nobody’s talking about Aubrey’s reaction specifically. Poor girl after finally seeing that her bullying was wrong and misguided, wanted to make things right with Basil and apologize, but before she could do it he commits suicide. Leading her to believe that it was her fault. Which is why all she could say was “I’m sorry”. One can only imagine the amount of guilt she carry’s onto herself
This instance in the plot of OMORI is a perfect depiction of just how real the phrase "Words are sharper than knives" can be.
Omori's neutral ending makes the Bad ending look like the Good ending
Idk but kel hit me the hardest with his dialogue
Whats worse to me is Basil stabbing himself and Sunny not going to see why his friends are gone. Instead he goes home while his friends are greiving and then stabs himself. Noone knows the truth, its a double suicide without warning.
I got this ending without knowing it, knowing that what I've been doing throughout the game to get BASIL killed is alot to be on my head.. I'm still not over this

It really did jab me in the gut when i saw this. It was similar to when I saw Sayori’s death (Ddlc) You just get that feeling of sudden dread.
That feeling of knowing what you did was bad, but not knowing exactly WHAT you did.

The feeling of anticlimax was so heavy, I could feel my heart beat.
As I saw SOMETHING follow me, and I heard the sirens. I knew that in this hollow ending,

literally when i woke up after the truth sequence i heard the music and realized it was night and was like "HELL no" so when i realized i could go to sleep i was like "yeah"
and now i'm redoing the whole game because i didnt have a save before i went to sleep in basils house
I got the ending where I ignored Kel completely, never answered the door and kept dreaming and it ended with me moving away and hearing police sirens :)

I don’t think that Basil wanted to stab Sunny. Maybe. Basil is misunderstood. He stabs Sunny probably on accident, his mind was so deluded to a point that he thought Something, WAS Sunny. That’s why during his mental breakdown, he attacked Sunny, that coupled with Suicidal-ness, I couldn’t imagine how much stress was put on Basil during then. Sunny moving away, his friends finally returning, not being able to tell the truth, imagining Something as a monster that is trying to kill him and Sunny, his grandma being in the hospital, almost drowning, bullying from Aubrey, and her gang, it’s also implied that Basil’s parents left him, and that he may have a crush on Sunny, so I think all of these feelings coupled together caused his mental breakdown, and incidentally or maybe even purposely stabbing Sunny. Sunny was being very selfish, leaving his friend who is very mentally ill to rot while he just, daydreams for four years then at the last second announce that he’s leaving. That’s really selfish.

While this is a solid theory, the lore confirms that BASIL knows that SUNNY and SOMETHING are two separate beings. BASIL even states that he is going to protect SUNNY from SOMETHING.
Yeah, what basil went througg was horrible , its really sad :-( but sunny didnt chose to leave . Living in denial was the only way he could live , even if he had to isolate himself to do it . and he didnt chose to move causes hes only 15 / 16 :-| and putting all the blame on one character due to bias isnt fair be ause basil and sunny and the whole group went through so much !!! nobody is being selfish, intentionally at least, they are all just some misunderstood kids who need help that was never givwn to them (sorry my typing skills are horrile
You really didn't get the point of the game. Honestly, Sunny suffered the most among all of them. He's a 12-year-old who accidentally killed his beloved sister Mari. His dad abandoned the family and hated him, leaving only him and his mom. He wasn't the only one who drifted apart from friends; everyone distanced themselves. The pain in his mind was so unbearable that living became impossible. Living with the knowledge of what he did to Mari, and knowing no one would forgive him, he needed to forget. He needed good memories, so he created a world in his mind where he could form new positive memories and forget what he did. Four years passed, and he developed an eating disorder, meaning he literally ate cold meat and vomited half of it. He hardly grew properly. Sunny isn't selfish, none of them are

HOW IS THIS A NEUTRAL ENDING-
Because it sidesteps all the problems Sunny has. It's actually tied to the other neutral endings where Sunny just leaves without acknowledging anyone else, the only difference being that all the friends know what's going on. The good ending has him acknowledging the truth which allows Basil and Sunny to overcome their trauma. The bad ending is when Sunny confronts the truth but rejects the lessons he's learned by committing oyasumi (idk if youtube will let me say it nowadays). This is the ending where nothing fundamentally changes for Sunny and the friend group. They go back to Sunny leaving them and can't remain friends anymore because of the pain. It's the same situation as how the story began, but now you've experienced what happened instead.
I got this ending in my first playthrough and it felt so anticlimactic and empty
i was tired of trying to save basil only for him to be killed in black space so i thought he would die again so i decided not to save him.

Knowing what happens to Basil (and basically every opening including the good one), definitely ambulance sirens.
Police. Most of the time, Police are the first to respond to a suicide, then ambulances.

The first ending I got was where Sunny jumps off the hospital roof, after clicking no when I was asked if I wanted to retry the final fight between Omori and Sunny.
There is another version I think kf this ending where sunny and basil kill themselves.
Basil killing himself in the floor while sunny kills himself in the bed.

@@Sharkofus you need the hikikomori route, and you can only pick up the knife when sunny gets home after basil died (you will find it on the counter, kitchen)
There is, but in separate places. You need to take the Hikikomori route.
@@SharkofusPick up the steak knife in Sunny's kitchen before going to bed. In fact, even entering the kitchen before going to bed forces this ending to happen, because then Sunny won't even approach the bed without the knife. It's only available on the Sunny route, and not on the Hikikomori route.

Basil suicides because you didnt help him to overcome his trauma. After the accident that kill your sister he help you because he refused to think of you as the killer. So he started to blame some imaginary monster behind you. In the last night you have the option to save him from comiting suicide . . . but if you refuse . . . then this happens . . . and you end up moving away leaving everyone you cared without peace and the TRUTH. :c
