Question- changed fluid on 6L80E via the radiator line while engine running and allowed to drain until fluid was barely coming out of the line. Could that damage the pump? Should I continue to add fluid if the engine is operating to prevent pump from essentially emptying?
yes... some pumps are designed to be fine running dry but not for very long. Running any moving component dry isnt a great idea. I let fluid drain out through the radiator line but then add fluid as it comes out until ive flushed about 12 quarts generally
@@siuautomotive are the pumps different on the 4l60es i broke the pump on my 90s 2 piece 2wd 4l60e in my trans am it was swapped prvious so dont know exact specs on tranny anyway that pump is broke and i need to fix it will any junkyard 4l60e transmission pump work ?
Hi, is it possible that failed torque converter stick oil pump in the automatic transmission and now engine is seized on Parking mode - can’t rotate engine by spanner?
Thank you for the great content with wonderful explaining. The most professional way of teaching the subjects i have seen in youtube.
You're very welcome! Thanks for the kind words!!
Absolutely agree. This is the best educational content on automatic transmissions I've ever found!
very good video thank You
highly informative
Thank you.
Great share!
Larry
Thank you so much
On a 4 wheel drive transmission. What will cost the oil pump or the Or the transmission fluid to leak out and cause transmission failure

Why would a transmission need to reduce the flow out of the pump? What benefits does that offer?
By reducing the output, the pump creates less drag on the engine, thus better fuel economy.
