    I prefer the Swing Curl method results. Plus, for me, rake and shake is too time consuming and seemed to require more product. I’m really enjoying using your three step method. Today was wash day and I used Suave sulfate free cleanser, Jessicurl Deep Conditioning Treatment, and Spiralicious styling gel. Perfect shiny frizz free curls! 😘

    I have gotten wavy hair in my fourties’ 🤷‍♀️
    And I decided to embrace it but nothing worked for my very long och bleached hair. Cut of 2,5 decimetres and my god it was like being born again. I did not even realise how down my “new” hair had gotten me till i felt the joy of loving my hair again.
    Now i love it so much and my confidence has skyrocketed. My hair is now just touching my shoulders and it’s so voluminous. I’m having so much fun playing around with methods and products and you channel has been so helpful!
    First age related change i have actually loved 😅

    Surely swing method is superior. it seems rake and shake took her about 10min if not longer to style.
    Also the result was much better with first styling over the bath. Very similar to what I've been doing a lot lately 🙂

    I’m in the early weeks of my wavy journey and I have resisted the Swing Curl method because I have severe joint problems and can’t commit to leaning over the tub for any amount of time. However, I’m really glad you made this video because I think the Rake and Shake is exactly what my waves need. I’ve had an issue with my waves being really uneven and either almost no definition or way too much frizz. I think part of it is my hair is long. But overall, I’m not using enough product and not encouraging my waves to form. Thanks for your help Courtney 😊

      I do too... my neck is wrecked. I did see someone on another video recommend when diffusing put a towel on the bed and lean your head slightly over the edge of the bed and you can diffuse upside down that way. I did about half that way and the other half with my face on the bed. Actually helped because having joint issues makes everything harder. I have a Ouidad cut so I might ask my hairdresser to show me how to do the rake and shake on my next visit and see if it works for me. Hope it helps you and good luck in your textured hair journey! 💕

    I almost think it would depend more on hair length which method one would choose. If your scalp shows a lot like me, rake and shake allows you to settle your hair a bit better to cover the thin areas. Swing Curl Clump takes a lot less time though, so I am going to stick with that for now!!! 😂😂 I was wondering if you would review Aquableu's anti-thinning hair care set (shampoo and conditioner)? They do not have any styling products, but the ingredients make me really curious!!! 😊

    Look. I'm not telling SwavyWavyCourtney how do to her job, but I don't think you're supposed to scrunch at the end of rake & shake. I know this because the first time I did it, I scrunched, and it confused my hair and gave me sad results. But the second time I tried it, I watched a Ouidad demonstration first and didn't scrunch, and I was so happy with how my hair turned out. It elongates my waves and gives me a looser pattern that I love. I hated their Advanced Climate Control gel when I used it like a normal gel, but when I rake & shake it (and, yes, I totally say Shake & Bake in my head), it's one of my favorite looks. Of course, yours turned out great because you have magic hair that always turns out great, so take my words with a grain of sand.

    You weren't even through half your hair with the rake and shake method before I said (out loud), "No way! Life is too short!" I've always known I had wavy hair but I hate doing my hair, so I usually wash and condition my hair, let it air dry, and leave it be. Sometimes I brush it out. I don't love it but it's fine. Recently, I've been watching videos to see if I can find a way hair routine that takes 10 minutes or less to do. Just tried the swing curl method with mousse and a bit of blow-drying and voila! I have nice curls! Not perfect but much nicer than usual. I figure with some practice, I can get it to max 10 minutes. Thanks!

  • @VengefulAngeI

    I like the rake & shake on your hair! You definitely got more curls in the back than usual IMO.
    I have slightly long, fine, highish porosity type 3 hair, & take& shake doesn't work well for me for the results I like. My curls normally dry in ringlets & when I talk & shake it seems to work against the ringlets. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I end up with really wavy hair but with slightly more volume, but it's just so different than my usual ringlets that I didn't like it.

      What method do you usually use?

    • @VengefulAngeI
      @VengefulAngeI ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kate7557 I usually separate my hair in 2 sections (top & bottom) & then just use a tangle teezer to brush product thru, but switch to a boar bristle type brush for my problem areas to get a good ribbon curl where my hair doesn't always cooperate. If I'm feeling lazy I just use the tangle teezer to brush product thru & then scrunch. If I'm feeling extra I ribbon curl every little section with a boar bristle brush but I rarely have the time for that.

    So sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
    On the hair... I'm old, LOL. I have extremely fine (think baby hair), very curly (3b-c), and not very much hair. I have been doing a combination of the two methods since before they had names. I also did hair for 16 years. So, I have opinions.
    IMHO: you're starting with a bit too much water in your hair. Water is heavy. Give it a good squeeze before applying product, or you will be wasting a good amount of the expensive products.
    Next: this whole "plop" thing is totally alien to me. If I did that, my hair would be a flat, frizzy mess. Just my body heat makes my hair straighter and limp. If you squeeze the excess water out of your hair, you don't really need to do that.
    Like I said, my opinion. (But I still think "plopping" is why the front of your hair was floppy.)
    Much love to you 🎉

    I only tried SCC once and I believe I liked it! I would need to try it again though, simply because it's been so long since I have. I never tried R&S, I think I will on my next wash day! Brush styling and scrunching only hasn't worked for me like before, I hope my hair didn't sit in the bleach for too long. 😩 Anyway, I like the results for both but I think I like the R&S method on you best! You do you!
    On another note, please keep Courtney in your prayers! The day she posted this video she broke her nose in a horse accident and will need surgery. Break a leg Courtney! 💛

    I have used Rake and Shake for years. I apply the gel in smaller sections than you are doing and then shake it. When I went to a Ouidad specialist she even worked in smaller sections and my hair was so curly when she did my hair. I lightly scrunch at the end, and I only use one styler and it works perfectly. I also use Ouidad products.

    What would be better for super long (almost to belly button), super thick, coarse wavy hair? I've tried SCC but it doesn't swing too well b/c it's too thick and rake and shake looks like it would take me too long since I have so much hair.

  • @KayoEll
    @KayoEll ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I use Ouidad products. I have hair similar to yours, and rake and shake has never worked well for me. However, I was taught NOT to "scrunch" it up after the rake and shake.
    R&S just takes too long for me to put up with. I have tried your flinging, head twist thing. I have polyneuropathy, including autonomic neuropathy, so head twisted as I bend over is NOT an option for me!
    I can't find it now, but I SWEAR I saw a video for time 2-ish hair that microplopping it generally preferred over rake and stake for mor "wavy curly" hair.
    I do think the Ouidad method of breaking the cast works much better. If I try to "crunch out the crunch" my hair just gets frizzy
