I still have difficult days, but I feel mostly at peace with myself and others, which is still pretty new to me, but something I didn't know was possible even a few years ago. You can do this. And the sooner you start, the better.

Psych2Go In all honesty, no. I do think love is an essential part of the human experience, and is necessary for the betterment and continuation of humanity and human society. I just find it extremely hard or even nearly impossible to cognitively understand love, I guess. Of course, I don’t necessarily hate it or wish it didn’t exist. I still feel it too like everybody else, and I can still experience attraction, but that doesn’t mean I understand it. It’s just something that’s so abstract and seems to be beyond my scope of cognitive comprehension. For me, affection isn’t something I _choose_ to feel. I have so much love for myself and I feel like I’m finally the best version of myself. I believe that as long as I’m a friendly, open person, a relationship can happen at any moment. Im almost at self love! I have great friends, a good family, and all my mental health issues are "gone". Yes my early childhood was hard and abusive, but now i know hes gone, and now i can trust others and trust myself. I have some moments where im scared of myself because what my father was, but i know that if im afraid of that, i will never truly be him. Its hard sometimes, but my friends family and therapist put me on the right track. And now i love myself for who i am, even if i may be a little chubby or rude.

I find it kind of disappointing that most of the highest rated comments are people feeling sad and stating that they'll never find love. Guys, it really isnt like that! Just because you havent found someone yet or whenever you have it hasnt gone well doesn't mean that all relationships will go bad! Keep your head up high, and you will find another partner soon enough.
What hot stick said, plus it takes courage, fortitude, and self-discipline to open up, explore possibilities, and learn from mistakes rather than beat yourself up over them.
Also, if you project to others that you're unlovable and hopeless, people sense that, just as if you project fear and hostility, you'll get it projected back to you.
But it works with loving feelings too. I don't just mean romantic love. You can start by showing affection and kindness to animals, if that's easier, and then try it with strangers you only see once or very little, and work your way up from there. Smile, do something thoughtful for someone, think about wanting the best for others. See a crying kid? Think, "You're not alone, you are loved." Imagine sending that love to them in your mind without expectation of return. Someone looks stressed out on the road or in the store? Think, "You're going to be okay. You can do this. You're worthy."
If you spend enough time thinking in this way about others, it begins to reflect back to you, but it also helps you feel this about yourself. It makes self-love easier.
When we're depressed or anxious or traumatized, we become dominated by our thoughts and emotions and get caught in loops and our world becomes small and distorted. Like running in a hampster wheel. It takes time and effort and self-discipline to pull yourself up. There's no magic pill. Don't listen to people who say you should "just pull yourself up by your bootstraps". Do the best you can each day and know that it's okay to have down days too. It helps a lot to journal your successes and keep your eyes on your day to day progress. Keeping your eyes on the end goal will overwhelm you. One step at a time, one day at a time.
When someone says something nice about you, write it down so you have it to look at when you feel defeated or worthless.
I spent a huge amount of my life severely depressed, anxious, and suicidal, but through a lot of effort, and time, and self-discipline and patience, I figured out how to climb out of the hole and stay afloat, and you can too. I still have difficult days, but I feel mostly at peace with myself and others, which is still pretty new to me, but something I didn't know was possible even a few years ago.
You can do this. And the sooner you start, the better.

Psych2Go In all honesty, no. I do think love is an essential part of the human experience, and is necessary for the betterment and continuation of humanity and human society. I just find it extremely hard or even nearly impossible to cognitively understand love, I guess. Of course, I don’t necessarily hate it or wish it didn’t exist. I still feel it too like everybody else, and I can still experience attraction, but that doesn’t mean I understand it. It’s just something that’s so abstract and seems to be beyond my scope of cognitive comprehension. For me, affection isn’t something I _choose_ to feel. It’s like an automatic instinctual natural attachment I develope. If that all makes sense.

I think friendship love is the most important. It looks like the “friend zone” from the outside but it isn’t if that’s what you want. I like it because it’s not too complicated or tough for me to understand. It’s simple friendship and that’s important to me! :)

I seek a long lasting romantic relationship with someone who can provide emotional support for me. Someone I can confide in and have a romantic relationship. Yet alas I lack so many things to achieve that. Self Love and Independence. I grow to clingy to people but now that I realize how important self love and independence is I now am at least aware of my issue and take the steps to fix it. I got some advice for people in my boat or have a rough relationship. One, you gotta love yourself. Two, accept that your partner is human and will make mistakes and (or) will seem distant at times. Three, If you feel doubt, a lack of trust, or understanding stop and talk to your partner with it in a constructive and supportive way. Four, try to be there for your partner and be thoughtful because you know they'd do the same for you, or simply out of love and generosity. Five, if things clearly seem to not be working out the best thing to do is quit but know there is still always someone out there for you.
Thanks to this channel, I'm hopefully making new friends that'll actually make me happy and find a person to love, it doesn't help that neither of them are in my school, but I know they're there, and they know me. I really did just need to open up

Im almost at self love! I have great friends, a good family, and all my mental health issues are "gone". Yes my early childhood was hard and abusive, but now i know hes gone, and now i can trust others and trust myself. I have some moments where im scared of myself because what my father was, but i know that if im afraid of that, i will never truly be him. Its hard sometimes, but my friends family and therapist put me on the right track. And now i love myself for who i am, even if i may be a little chubby or rude.
