I rarely comment but really appreciate the message you included in the end about renting. While I was at uni, my family relocated 300 miles away from where I grew up, so I now rent in a house share to stay in the area I know and love (and where my friends and boyfriend are). This costs over £600/month for a room in a house on the outskirts of Oxford, which eats up a big chunk of my entry level salary. It’s frustrating when people say renting is a waste because for many it isn’t a choice and even if it is a choice - it gives you independence and life skills! It can also be difficult not to compare myself to others even when circumstances are so different. Thank you for being so self aware and congratulations on the new house 💗
Kasey I’m more than aware of that. I would love for housing costs to only take up 30% of my wages. However I live in the most expensive city in the UK relative to earnings so it’s not exactly feasible. I share a house with 4 strangers in an area I dislike to keep the costs as low as I do.

I live on the outskirts of Oxford aswell, and even the least admirable places cost more to rent than people pay on mortgages in other parts of the UK and let's not mention council tax prices for just being less than 30 miles from the city centre! Unfortunately people dont have the options to move away to more affordable places that housing will be no more than 30%.. it's ridiculous the cost of living in areas like Oxfordshire!

The speech at the end meant so much, it so easy to get caught up on feeling not good enough or like you are behind others for not having a mortgage yet. So many people I know are beginning to get mortgages, and I feel like I'm stuck in a job where I will never earn enough to do that myself, especially when I'm not in a relationship. Trying to better my career, studying, socialising and keeping healthy while having the pressures of time slipping through my fingers to get on the property ladder is something I often get caught up in. I'm so happy for you and Con and I know you both worked hard for this. Hopefully if I keep working hard one day I'll see this sort of outcome too! xxxx

My boyfriend and I have been renting together for 2 years now and we’re just so happy to have our own beautiful place whether it belongs to us for the long term or not. The hospital in our town got knocked down and replaced in a different bit of the town with a newer one, and on the site of the old hospital they've built a new housing estate and loads of people reckon some of those homes are haunted!
This really resonated with me, I have a baby on the way, 8 years into our relationship and there is so much stigma around what myself and my partner do in regards to where we choose to live! Hearing you being so open about your renting situation has actually given me hope that everything will work our for the best for myself, my partner and our new baby! I've just bought my first flat at 27. I really wanted a house but it just wasn't achievable with my salary and the fact I'm buying alone (independent woman wooop!), but I'm still so proud of myself! Can't wait for the moving vlogs!! x
just to let everyone know you don't need a mortgage advisor. My husband in the back and I went straight to Lloyds, got the mortgage offer the same day and they appointed and payed for our solicitors!! was amazing, super quick and really really easy! Congrats Elle and Con!!

I don’t usually comment on TH-cam videos but I literally watched this on my tv and came straight onto my phone so I could comment and let you know that - not only did I enjoy yet another of your videos and looking around your new empty house and learning about the house buying process but the chat at the end about going at your own pace and to not feel like you aren’t doing as well as you should be really was appreciated. I am only 20, 21 in May next year, but I have suffered with mental health for a long time and have been diagnosed with ptsd and so all the achievements that I hoped to have made by now haven’t happened but to remember that as long as you’re doing your best it doesn’t matter what other people think and that you should be compassionate to yourself is so so important. sorry for the huge comment but.... I really appreciate that you made the effort to say that and keep it in the video even if you thought it was already long as it is a important reminder and I’m sure helps a lot of people feel that little bit better ❤️ I hope you are both well and will be very happy in your new house and I adore you both xo
Not even 18 and stressed so much about my future.. buying a house etc, school never teaches you any of that definitely a huge flaw in the education system. I totally agree with what you said about renting not being a waste of money! Me and my husband have rented for 4 years now and are hoping to buy next year but when we moved in I regretted it straight away and wished we had bought instead but 4 years on I think renting has really helped us both know what we want and don’t want in a house, if we had bought straight away I don’t think we would have been as practical with picking things we like such as furniture and decorations but since renting we’ve experimented with cheaper furniture and know what we like and don’t like, for example we have a small kitchen and before moving in we didn’t even think about the size of a kitchen but now we both know we want a big kitchen and I just think it’s really opened our eyes to what we actually like and dislike about a house!!

@@Axxxxxx Yes, thats what we did. They calculate your income and also your outgoings, including contracts for for anything from phones to debts. Children also take £££ off how much you are allowed to borrow.
Love the new house, we were fortunate enough to move into a brand new house on a brand new estate on New Year’s Eve 1976, we’re still here and are really happy here. I enjoyed your tour but have to be honest I had to smile when Connor said it’s new so there’ll be no ghosts, I was the same but hubby burst my bubble when he said had I considered some one could have died on the land🤣🤣 it was really nice to see two young people being so sensible and not just squandering money on the here and now. One of my grandsons did the same thing and this Christmas will be his second Christmas in his own home. Wishing you both all the best in your new home👍😊💕

Congrats. For anyone worrying about buying a house my partner had bad credit with defaults and I only earnt 10k and still got a mortgage through a broker. Our advisor was so good and made the process easier, and found us a mortgage offer. We bought the dream house after renting for 7 years and I’m 25. Only downside is the mortgage company would only work with their own solicitors, and they were so slow and was touch and go for a bit and they added 2 months to the process. But it was all worth it

one of my friends lives in an estate the same as this where i live. theyve been there for quite a few years now. theyve got an island in the middle of the kitchen like youre going to get but the barstools are facing the oven! theyve obviously done a few things differently due to taste like theyve put a long mirror in above the length of the bath, put yours really suits you! x

Hi Elle I've just come across your channel and I love your videos! I bought a new build last year and I love it. I've bought a couple of houses and I just wanted to say that if you're looking at a home in an area that's in high demand it's worth looking at mortgages before looking at houses so you can get a mortgage in principle. This way it doesn't hold up (as much) the process on your end. Also getting a mortgage in principle means that you know for sure what you can afford! Another thing, I agree with you Elle with getting a mortgage advisor if you're a first time buyer. They honestly get you the best deals and make things so easy. I hope you dont mind me giving my own advice! X

That's what you're supposed to do, and so the mortgage advisor can tell you how much money you would be given for a mortgage
@@Axxxxxx Yes, thats what we did. They calculate your income and also your outgoings, including contracts for for anything from phones to debts. Children also take £££ off how much you are allowed to borrow.
Love the new house, we were fortunate enough to move into a brand new house on a brand new estate on New Year’s Eve 1976, we’re still here and are really happy here. I enjoyed your tour but have to be honest I had to smile when Connor said it’s new so there’ll be no ghosts, I was the same but hubby burst my bubble when he said had I considered some one could have died on the land🤣🤣 it was really nice to see two young people being so sensible and not just squandering money on the here and now. One of my grandsons did the same thing and this Christmas will be his second Christmas in his own home. Wishing you both all the best in your new home👍😊💕

Congrats. For anyone worrying about buying a house my partner had bad credit with defaults and I only earnt 10k and still got a mortgage through a broker. Our advisor was so good and made the process easier, and found us a mortgage offer. We bought the dream house after renting for 7 years and I’m 25. Only downside is the mortgage company would only work with their own solicitors, and they were so slow and was touch and go for a bit and they added 2 months to the process. But it was all worth it

one of my friends lives in an estate the same as this where i live. theyve been there for quite a few years now. theyve got an island in the middle of the kitchen like youre going to get but the barstools are facing the oven! theyve obviously done a few things differently due to taste like theyve put a long mirror in above the length of the bath, put yours really suits you! x

Hi Elle I've just come across your channel and I love your videos! I bought a new build last year and I love it. I've bought a couple of houses and I just wanted to say that if you're looking at a home in an area that's in high demand it's worth looking at mortgages before looking at houses so you can get a mortgage in principle. This way it doesn't hold up (as much) the process on your end. Also getting a mortgage in principle means that you know for sure what you can afford! Another thing, I agree with you Elle with getting a mortgage advisor if you're a first time buyer. They honestly get you the best deals and make things so easy. I hope you dont mind me giving my own advice! X
