Yes, this scene was absolutely cathartic to watch. After Laura being sneaky and trying to sabotage Brenda, it was extremely satisfying to see Randolph put her in her place, and fire her. Though, he probably should have fired Laura privately, instead of causing a scene.

As for Donna, she was hesitant, but aware of Brenda's situation. Steve was brainwashed by Laura, we understand his case. Though, later on, he came to his senses. You almost feel sorry for Laura b/c she wanted that part of Maggie and she was fired b/c she wanted Brenda out of the play so she could play the part of Maggie. I know that acting can be a dirty business and it was but Brenda went to extremes as well and Laura showed her true colors and she wanted to committ suicide to prove her point. There are alot of people like Laura out there who want to be loved and admired and have friends and whatever was going on in Laura's life before she came to college she probbaly had a rough life. You can see it when it comes to Laura that everything failed in her life and she just wanted to be noticed as much as Brenda did.. Alot of people try and fail and this is the outcome, and then Laura gets humliated by the director and cast and crew. She didn't like being humliated like that... especially when someone like Laura had intense feelings. Laura can be pretty scary especially when she wanted to hurt Brenda. Then she wanted to kill herself to make a point and I seriously doubt that Randlph wouldn't have cared.
