  • Muay Thai/kickboxing highlights of the legendary Changpuek Kiatsongrit (ช้างเผือก เกียรติทรงฤทธิ์).
    Changpuek is an international Muay Thai superstar and was one of the first Thai fighters to fight abroad against combatants of different styles in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of Muay Thai to the world.
    Changpuek's punching/low kick style was extremely watchable. His low kick knockout of American kickboxer Rick Roufus is one of the most memorable muaythai vs kickboxing fights in history, and transformed the thoughts and beliefs of many martial artists and combat sports athletes around the world.
    He has wins over countless foreign fighters including Rob Kaman, Rick Roufus and Peter Smit.

    I'm pretty sure that his jaw was broken in the first round against Rufus, but he ended up winning the fight via TKO from those vicious leg kicks. Winning a fight with a broken jaw, that's something very few will ever accomplish in their entire careers, even if they are good enough to be world champions.

    People love to talk about how Buakaw made Muay Thai the global phenomenon it is today and that his achievements would never be toppled ... and they are almost right .
    But Changpuek Kiatsongrit nicknamed "the white elephant" ( not crazy elephant as most people thought , "Chang" in Thai mean Elephant and "Puek" mean white or ivory , the white elephant in Thai culture is THE symbol of both Thailand and the Monarch particularly the war monarch , anyone with that nickname shall posses the attributes of this mythical creature strength/patriotism/courage ) did it before Buakaw in fact i believe that HE was the greatest source of popularity and the spread of modern Muay Thai , he was the one that not only remind fighters from other disciplines that you can't beat the Thai under their rules , but above all that the Thai could beat them under their own rules ... with weight disadvantage and that nak Muay are simply the most adaptable striker in the World .
    Changpuek career against the Thai wasn't legendary at all ( Krongsak beat him ) while it is true that he was a Lumpinni champion but of the heaviest weigh class , it's like saying Sittichai is a legendary champion even though his division is the most talent lacking of the bunch .
    Changpuek ( like most Thai back then ) was giving up weight in order to fight his western counterparts , it could be said that he was the Buakaw of back then in a sense that he wasn't a great champion in the Thai circuit but he represented his country in an extraordinary fashion , he competed and defeated some of the greatest non-Thai stand up fighter in history while fighting in their own terms and his own and simply proved that he was the superior fighter of a superior fighting method that needed to be restraint in order to be defeated.
    He was a Muay Matt ( puncher , ko artist ) , people believe that he was a Muay Tea ( kicker ) simply because he destroyed foreigners using his kicks but they fail to see that the guy hold the record for the most knockout at 174 ko victories beating Sagat Petchyindee's 151 ko wins , a kicker no matter how devastating he is can't accumulate such a high ko rate , he was simply a pressure fighter with great composure , massive kicking power , dynamite in his hands and a body of steel .
    The only downside was his terrible boxing defense and bad mobility ( he can almost be described as being flat footed at time ... kind of like an Elephant , lol ) and also that the guy literally fought everyone ( even an judo expert who would then compete in the UFC in an hybrid fight ) anytime ( fought even when he was WAY past his prime ) and under any rules set and weight class, at the end of his career he was simply a punching bag .

      White Elephant is the symbol for the Buddha it is Connected to Hindu and particularly significant to Buddhist’s. It would imply he has some supernatural power to overcome evil, it means he is like a literal savior. Given the time he fought he would’ve been seen as a protector of the Thai tradition. A white elephant is a blatant Buddhist symbol.

Changpeuk himself said that he felt pain every time he kicked Rick in the leg, and Rick still ran like a bitch. Not to mention, this was without knee strikes, clinging, or elbows allowed, which limited Kiatsongrit entire arsenal to the core, and he still managed to beat Rick at his own game. • @amoreazione3563
      @amoreazione3563 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@SuacoRV It is not just about what is allowed and what not. Thai fighters have an enormous advantage over any other professional in the world because they start fighting at age 9, or even earlier, and by the time they reach their prime their bodies are hard as steal and their fluency is unmatched. Don't assume that MMA fighters would dominate inside a cage: I can see that happening only because of grappling on the floor, and even in that case, MMA fighters would run a big risk to dart forward - exposing their faces to devastating knees and kicks - and try and get the Thais on the ground.

    Rick Roufus did well to last that long, with that number of kicks. At that point in time, USA was oblivious to MT and the devistating low kick, as it's 'kickboxing' was Karate mixed with Boxing.

    No matter how good fighter you are when you can no longer stand or walk it's useless. So this muay thai technique is very effective beating the legs until you cannot stand anymore lol savage!
