Turn ON a Radio or TV TO A CHANNEL THAT THEY ARE USED TO HEARING WHEN YOU ARE HOME! My cat is a SENIOR and sleeps a lot . She has the run of our (Cat & I) apartment. I find her sleeping in the most interesting places. She has a water fountain, free access to her box and has someone to check in on her, as well as apartment neighbors that run their TVS and RADIOS. Q: AT CATS’ advanced age, would it stress her too much to have a companion cat brought in to keep her company? She has been an “only” cat for a few years. PROFESSIONAL ADVICE NEEDED!
@beckyelliott2871 Thank you for sharing your beloved kitty's story! 😊 Older cats often have very established routines and adding a new feline member could cause them some stress, especially if they've been an only cat for so long. Some older cats are accepting of a companion, but others may be uncomfortable with the change. If you decide to try it, a gradual introduction is key to observe her reaction without forcing anything. Your kitty has an environment full of comfort and love! She'll surely continue to enjoy her naps in her favorite spots. 🐾
This may be very good advice for flat cats who don't go outside. Cats with unlimited free access to a garden through a cat flap have plenty of water7....puddles, ponds etc....and lots of things to occupy them....climbing trees, hunting for small critters, arguing with the neighbours cats, and can always retreat to their safe home. We currently have three old ladies, one of 19 who doesn't go out very much any more, and two 12 year olds who still think they are kittens sometimes
@Grahamlong6870 Thank you for sharing your experience! It's true that cats with free access to a garden have more options to stay active and happy. However, the video is focused on those who don't have that freedom and can feel bored or stressed when left alone for long periods of time. I'm glad to know that your cats, especially your 19-year-old cat, live in an environment that allows them to enjoy their home and the outdoors. How amazing to have three "old ladies" so full of life! 😊
As for the plenty of water,My Huckleberry liked playing in his water bowls, He would throw water all over the floor,Just to splash in it,We were always refilling his water bowls because he would tip them to play in the water. We tried a water reservoir dish,aBut he kept throwing the water out of the dish ,Just to make it gurgle. Always had to leave the bathroom door closed or he would flush the toilet too. I miss my Huckleberry baby boy😭 He was great with young children.
@raesbreakaway1107, what a beautiful and funny story about Huckleberry! 😻 It seems like he had a personality full of joy and curiosity, and definitely a lot of love for water! I can only imagine how special it must have been to share moments with him like this. Cats that touch our hearts always live on in our memories. Thank you for sharing a little piece of Huckleberry's life with us.
Of course,Huckwas one of many feral and straysmy sister and I had taken in through the years. Some were just as eager to rescue us. And all were very territorial, albeit extremely loyal, Especially to me😻
James, cats are true masters of the art of resting! 🐾These long naps make them even more charming. They always know how to enjoy life to the fullest! 😺❤️
Let him outdoors, he’ll mike friends with the neighbors. Well, that’s what mine did and started showing up on the neighbourhood Facebook page asking if anyone owned him.
@redherring6154 That's so funny! 😹 Sometimes our cats are so friendly that they end up making new friends all over the neighborhood. It's great that they showed up in the Facebook group, they definitely know how to get noticed. Just be careful when they're out exploring, they're born adventurers!
You should never let a cat outside with out supervision!! Cats can get FIV Just from grooming other cats and getting in fights and it doesn't have to be sex for cats to get cat aids !! I have much experience with this by letting my cat go in and out a window freely having a good time and then catching FIV and being sick as 💩and dying. So I learned from my vet to never let cats outside with out supervision and a leash !!!
Depends where you live. We have a dog problem here. So it’s not safe for our cats to be outside. Many cats have been mauled by bad owners who let their dogs run loose
@tutsybassista You're right! Sometimes what seems like common sense can be easily overlooked. Many don't realize how important it is to prepare a safe environment for them when they're alone. Thanks for commenting and reminding us of the essentials of taking good care of our feline companions!
Hi @glasslinger! 😺 It's so nice that your cats have their own way out! The cat door gives them freedom and allows them to explore. Just remember to make sure they're safe outside. If you have any funny stories about their adventures, we'd love to hear them! Thanks for commenting and watching the video. 🐾
@@HealthyandHappyPets-zk3sy The cat stories abound! When you have a cat at your house invariably more cats will come visit. I live in a very wealthy neighborhood in a huge city (Houston) so hazards to cats outside are minimal. Fenced yard so stray dogs (rare) cannot get in so the cats have a safe place to hide. My last 3 cats are "walk-ups" that simply showed up and moved in. (that's OK!) I take care of any that come by.
