***UPDATE - There have been a TON of comments about whether or not metal utensils can be used on the Pit Boss Ultimate Griddle. I had previously received information that metal utensils could be used. However, after reaching out for clarification, questions about warranty issues, etc., my personal advice going forward would be to use metal utensils at your own risk. The actual User’s Manual states that “the best utensils to use are wood, silicone, or nylon, as these materials will reduce the wear on the cooking surface”. My integrity and the integrity of the information that I present to you is my number one priority! I apologize for any confusion.
I commend you on your candor Good for you . Hopefully you will discuss the problematic use of metal utensils on the Pit Boss grills in your next video You have already stated in a recent video that many have seen that it is no problem . We both agree that this is not true , but you have left a different impression in your video
Hey brother, just found some good news, Pit Boss finally released their own set of griddle tools for the ceramic tops, comes with spatulas, scraper and a special scrubber to keep it extra clean. Awesome breakdown on what to consider when looking for a griddle.
I have absolutely no interest in owning one of these propane powered flat top griddle whatsoever. Yet, I watched this entire video from start to finish. You are very informative and have a way of holding the interest of even the non interested. Well done, sir. You have talent for this.
Your candid attitude of this is how I use the griddle like it or not is awesome. With that, your videos are very informative. Also, your videographer deserves a significant raise. Keep up the great work.
Pros and Cons. My choice is Blackstone. Fits every category with me. Very versatile. I have also cooked on flat tops for over 20 years in the military.
This is one of the best videos out there. Probably the only one. Thanks we need this to help people make the right choice. I have a Pit Boss 3 burner and a 2 burner Blackstone for camping. Love them both.
I'm only 1/2 through the video. I love how passionate this man gets about, what some people refer to the little things. I hope this makes sense. Great work on this video. Stay passionate amigo. 🍻
The Camp Chef FTG600 has been my workhorse for years, it has never let me down. I even built an outdoor kitchen around it. I got a 22" Blackstone I for tailgating, the fire blows out if you look at it the wrong way. If I had to do it over again I'd but a small electric ceramic griddle and run it off the outlet in my truck bed. Great tips!
I am have been waiting for a video like this for months. I have never owned a griddle but have worked in restaurants for 30 years so I appreciate their versatility. When you do the Pro’s and Cons please take into weather and cold weather areas. Some of us can only cook outside 7-9 months a year.
Glad you enjoyed it! And absolutely...Now to be fair...I cook in normal climate so I can only address my opinion but I think I can give some great suggestions...
I just reached out to Pit Boss because it checked a lot of boxes, EXCEPT, they do not support or build an adaptor for natural gas. I wanted it for a built-in kitchen. I'll have to keep looking for something with a front-accessible grease pan and natural gas. Those are the only two deal breakers. Thanks for great videos.
My question is, “What changed?” There are a handful of them out there, that have held up, for a few months? While people don’t so much as shake/stir a pan on the surface? So now they have passed the test of time? Pit Boss makes high end stuff. I’m not ripping them. I just wish they would show a bit more integrity in their advertising.
I sure would like to see all cooks going forward on the pit boss to have metal utensils used, for all the pit boss you tubers. If pit boss is sending you guys those emails, then by all means use them. metal on the flat top is one of my decisions, the other is the char/crust for burgers and steaks. There's a lot flavors developed during the process. thanks for the content
That is the goal no doubt...I WILL use metal based on the emails. But also with caution. I Dont see myself using my bench scraper or a 10 lb sledge hammer but yeah I will definitely use em
I am trying to learn more about flat top grills lately! I feel so comfortable with hearing your suggested opinions!! I can tell you; have been there and have done that! Great video Sir, keep up the great videos!! Thank you!
My air fryer baskets on my 36 inch Blackstone are very difficult to open. I have to yank hard on it several times to get it open. I don't have any issue getting the warming tray open though and I've switched out the baskets but it doesn't change anything. Thanks for the videos though I love them!
This was a great video Neal! I’ve been toying with getting a flat top griddle. I have the 17 inch Blackstone indoor but it’s obviously limited in capacity as well as functionality. My biggest concern is how the wind affects each of the flat tops you have! I’m hoping that you can maybe address this in part 2. You’re a wealth of knowledge and it’s very much appreciated! Cheers brother!
Happy Easter Flat Top King! Let me tell you brother I am sooooo glad you brought up being able to use metal utensils on this Pit Boss Ceramic Coated Griddle. We made French toast on this Bad Boy this morning and we decided that it wasn’t worth the effort and had lost or mojo to keep on fighting the fight. It seems that everything had a tendency to stick to the griddle and if the griddle wasn’t over laden with oils a butter it didn’t matter what we cooked on it it would stick if using silicone utensils. We’ve used this thing about 10 times and to be honest with you we were seriously going to take this thing back or put it on the curb to let someone else fight for the cause. It made the camp Chef and Black Stone look pretty darn attractive. Thank you for your videos and honesty and keep up the good work. God Bless!!!
have you tried wooden utensils they help alot as well. Plus the new silicone set from Pit Boss looks strong...I will be getting it soon and can let ya know
I love my pellet grill, I love my slow n sear kettle and I love my gravity fed grill/smoker. I wasn’t going to go in the flat top direction. Then I found your channel this winter and saw amazing content and Your vids along with kayak bass fishing vids have gotten me thru a brutal Michigan winter. Welp I ordered a Loco flat top and it’s being delivered next Friday. You are my sensei…..
That is awesome! I am very interested in the LOCO....I would love to get constant stat feed back from you about the LOCO.. Much appreciated the kind words
after watching you, and others on here....pulled the trigger today and finally got this one...should get by monday!! cant wait. pitboss 700FB/Pitboss series 3 smoker and now this!! happy happy!!
I bought a 360° griddle one month ago, almost by mistake and without knowing anything about this product. Now this griddle is working non-stop, gracias! After watching your video I started to think for the next season to buy me a flat top grill like yours and give my beautiful 360° griddle to my father in law, and everybody will be happy 😉😉 What do you think about 360° griddle?
Honestly if its a griddle it cooks.....every single thing out there as goods and bads...there are horror stories and great stores. The best thing is to just be able to cook and enjoy the family while doing it
I have a blackstone range top combo. I use the stove top burners to do my fries or whatever else while smashing burgers or whatever else. I love it. The only issue I have is here in east Texas if you don’t cook on it for a month or 2 expect a lil rust to start showing up, even if you have oiled it after the last use and kept it covered. Outside of that it’s a great griddle 👍🏻
@@TheFlatTopKing I have a lid for the flat top and a lid for side burners and keep a blackstone soft cover when not in use. Thanks for your videos, some of the best info out there about cooking on the griddle.
Excellent, excellent video! Even though I already have a griddle I found this very informative and just plain good. I will recommend this video for anyone considering purchasing a griddle. Thank you.
I’ve gone off the Weber and reckon flat tops cook a better steak through sealing then high heat for the char. Can still retain the inside pink just deluxe.
For me. The choice between the black stone or the pit boss came down to how do I prefer to cook. I rarely use any nonstick pans in my house. I much prefer using a cast iron. So I went with the black stone. Not saying the Pit boss isn’t good, but it just wasn’t right for how I like to cook.
Great video Question though What top would you recommend for a Lake House that sometimes goes 3-5 months without a visit where the unit would sit out in the eliminates all yr around?
Good breakdown! My first flat top was a black stone. I liked it but it didn't feel right pushing the oil to the back and I felt I should have got a bigger grill. So, I got the camp chief 900 with 6 burners and I have no complaints. It fits what I want and I have plenty of room and better control over the temp. I'm sure this video will help people understand, to buy what is going to work for them.
Kenny lets keep in touch about the 6 burner.... Can you give me specifics for my video number 2... How many people do you feed. Why the bigger one. Do you have parties tailgate etc....
@@TheFlatTopKing I cook for 2 to 4 on the norm. I was a short order cook in my 20's and those grills are bigger. On the black stone it felt like I was always running out of room and it became a balancing act sometimes. (Kids don't eat like adults) The surprise to the 600 is temp control. I played with it for a bit, and got it to 500 on the right dropping to 200 on the far left. I can make eggs and pancakes on one end and all my meat on the other side. and anything else in the middle. It's a case of bigger is better lol. When we do have people over the 3 things, they want are Cheese steak, chop cheese, and smash burgers. The most I fed was 32 adults, 12 kids and never had a problem, and never ran out of room. Something else I did was I had a gas line run so I don't use propane any more.
@@kennystringfellow4923 wow That is AWSOME wow👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 can you cook a Nice thick Ribeye etc.. any problems- I’m stuck rt. Now Trying to make up My Mind 🤔- PITTBOSS OR ???? Please advise
Cool thanks I have had my 4 burner blackstone for just over a year now and truthful I think I now cook on it more then I cook inside on the stove. Now saying that I cook cast iron inside so seasoning was a breeze for me.... I only wish I had a hinged cover instead of the lightweight flat cover it came with. Other then that I would not change anything I love it. Thanks for your vids and I do try some of your exotic creations and they turn out great
I love the breakdown! Great info for our friends new to this. I already told you, you're the reason I went with Camp Chef (still haven't used the grill feature, but I have a reverse sear idea😉) They're all amazing machines to be fair, but I haven't cooked on a Pit Boss yet. Oh, and if you're not opening your beer with your spatula, are you even griddling??
in colder weather the grill gets cold and hard to heat big volume you may need a heat shield to save gas and jkeepm a higher temp. if it rains- a lid is the cover everyone will need.
Thank you again for your videos. Do you have any infortion or video coming soon regarding the new Weber Slate that is coming out soon. I have watched a few videos talking about not rusting and do not need to season. I have not yet purchased a griddle yet, waiting to see what is coming up next. Appreciate any information or advice you can share. Thanks!
Very informative video! I started flat top life with a 30” hooded Blackstone after a few months my wife decided we needed a travel flat top so we decided to go with the 22” hooded with folding legs. We have no regrets on either unit. If fact, I have them both set up ready to use on our cover patio, along with a Yoder pellet smoker, a Vision Pro ceramic egg, and a S430 Weber gas.
Maybe one big question is GrillGrate. I have camp chef portable units which I've used for camping & outdoor group activities. I have Louisiana Grill note have an opportunity to use much which I put Grill Gates. The Camp Chef model you showed can accommodate GrillGrates. The other items not covered are wind protection and heat distribution. Yet you mentioned the Treager flat top provides best heat distribution in previous video. I don't know if I need or want a plancha at this time other than what I have a consideration or options. What do you think about GrillGrates? 🖖🕊️
thanks for the awesome vid . got me a 22 inch black stone griddle with a lid to me the lid is important and i simply want a not to small and not to big of a griddle just for me to use on weekends , holidays and sometimes after work .
The Pit Boss Ultimate is NOT "pre-seasoned". Ceramic totally negates the need for seasoning. You don't ever have to season or re-season it. You can cook lots of stuff on it without even using oil.
@@OliverLeveritt Just in time for NFL tailgating. A person could cook a lot of food on one of those. That's all that matters to me. If you take proper care of your cooking items they should last you awhile.
Thank you for your honest, informative unbiased video. Breaking it down to the 8 things to consider made a confusion situation so clear going into Part 2; Pros and Cons.
Ok, let me start off by saying quite a while back I was looking for a cast iron pizza instructional video and ran up on your channel (charcoal king back then). That was when I believe you started and the pizza video was just days old. I was also interested in a flat top. Went with the FTG600 and haven’t looked back. Pulling the grease towards me and not having the front lip was key to my decision. There is a diamond plated cover for the FTG600 that works perfect for me sold on the internet. That big dome Cuisine cover is enough for my steaming. There’s a lot more I could say but I’m getting in to the tl;dr territory. I still make that pizza about once a month as my family loves it. I don’t care what you are cooking on, I’m still going to watch you. GBO
Absolutely, I will say have some caution...dont go throwing sledge hammers on it. HAHAHAHAHA I dont see myself using the bench scrapper on it still somewhat skeptical but yeah in my new videos coming out i will be using metal
Hmm, based on this what type of griddle should I buy? haha, kidding. I bought the Blackstone with air fryer and loving it so far. I do think I'll make a lot of use of the air fryer and have so far. We'll see. Thanks for the videos and thanks for your service!
Great timing on this. Was going to comment on one of your videos asking your opinion, but now I’m getting it. Anxious for part 2 so maybe I can finally make a decision 🤞🏻Thanks for all your videos!
The Microwave Queen I appreciate your response and love your husbands videos until I heard the Pit Boss endorsement . I believe it would be a better grill without a ceramic coating . It has an nice large surface and good grease catcher , but the surface will be quickly damaged with standard use with metal utensils . I will continue to support your channel for the food / recipe portion .
Pit Boss makes "regular" griddles without the ceramic. Get one of those. For those who'd like a ceramic coated top, it wouldn't be better without a ceramic coating. Don't use metal on it. I don't even use metal on my cast iron and stainless steel cookware. No scratches and gouges.
I called Camp Chef last week about my 4 burner griddle having 3 rows of 6 bumps on the surface and was told it was a manufacturer defect, but I was not under warranty so I should buy a new one. All I wanted was for them to tell me the best way to fix the problem.
When you mean bumps...you can actually feel it..I dont really know what to suggest I kind stay out of that stuff...I have found through this journey that there are all kind of people when it comes to this...1 small scratch on the wheel and they are ready to burn it down. then of course the other hand a few dints and they said no problem,..IF its affecting the cooking capability then absolutely might want to look at a replacement..maybe they sell just the top only..Honestly its up to you..if by buying a new one you mean because its affected the surface so much Maybe look after market and buy a negotiated one for cheap and resurface it ...
@@TheFlatTopKing Camp Chef told my that it happened in the manufacturing process, so they Acknowledged it was a factory defect but wouldn't offer anyway for me to fix it that's all I wanted give me a suggestion on how to fix it and it is 3 rows of 6 in each row little bumps are not high but therere enough that when you scraped the griddle top you scrape off the patina in every spot where there's a bump
Great video. Do you ever try the Eno plancha? It's made of enameled cast iron. A product that comes from France. No need to do seasoning. Very good product!
Love your videos generally . Early on i believe you were using a Camp Chef then you got a sponsor from Pit Boss and changed grills . It is interesting that this video has an under lying preference for Pit Boss . My question would be has your sponsorship effected your preferences.. Just a thought
Exactly! Realized the Waltwins sold out and was disappointed. Makes you question if your getting trustworthy information. But so far the flatopking has continued to use all 3. Have to wait until part 2 and see what he says. Been going back and forth on a Pitboss or a Blackstone for months now while I'm saving up.
@@alexwheeler2383 I have purchase an used the Camp Chef for more than a year . Main reason is that the grill has a cast apron to shield the burners from the wind which was not on the Blackstone. Have used a Blackstone and like it as it is not as hot as my Camp Chef . I don't believe that you will be see the Grill King use metal utensils very often on the Pit Boss . I have ceramic fry pans that have been damaged with metal . Only time will tell. I like his videos but he obviously is pushing his sponsor
Sponsorship is different than a brand ambassador in my opinion. I still cook on my Camp Chef and also have recently purchased a Blackstone on my own dime. I have and still cook on all three. In my conversation with pit boss it was discussed from the start that I wanted the ability to cook on any griddle I wanted to insure honesty in all aspects. I wanted the ability to be versatile with viewers to allow for fair competition. All I have done since day I is just be honest with both the food and reviews. With that being said NO IT DOES NOT SWAY MY OPINION ON ANYTHING GOOD OR BAD. Heck in my last video I made on Whiskey Cinnamon Pancakes I said after cooking them that I didn't like em. I didn't re shoot either.
Looking for a flat top to take in our RV, and might use at home next to our Big Green Egg. Super helpful video to shape our decision. Thanks for the great content!
Great video Neal! For my needs, which were mostly cooking for a family of 4, 5 in future, occasionally cooking for 8-10 if we have a gathering, I decided on a Members Mark (Sams Club in the Northeast) 5 burner rolled still griddle with a hood for 400 bucks, came with soft cover as well. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase! Between you and the Waltwins, I believe I made the perfect purchase for my needs. Cannot wait for nicer weather here in the northeast so I can cook on this thing almost every night. 5 Burner rolled steel griddle with hood and storage for propane tank and soft cover from sams club for $400 plus tax. I believe best bang for your buck.
I’ve seen this at my local Sam’s and have been considering it as well, also been considering the BS with air fryer as I don’t own an air fryer and have heard they are nice to have but don’t have room inside for another appliance. trying to decide if it’s worth the extra expense. Too many choices. Lol
Thanks as always for the informative videos! Love your honest, no-BS approach and perspective. I ultimately bought a Nexgrill 36” 4-burner from BJs (Costco Competitor) that I’ll be putting together this week. Hopefully one day in the future you’ll get your hands on a Nexgrill and can run it through the paces.
You hit all the right points! Great video! I live on Lake Erie and we have CRAZY weather up here. Not only a lot of snow but crazy winds! The wind guards on the Camp Chef are one of the main reasons I went with it. I'm also with you, I prefer pulling the grease toward me instead of pushing it toward my the white aluminum siding on my house lol
Great vid......in the future, eventually when the ceramic coated top wears ......(how long it will last is still in question).....does Pit Boss sell a replacement top for thier griddles so you can just replace the top and not the whole griddle ?? Thanks
Great video, FTK! You went over some great points that I was hoping this series would go over. Looking forward to part two with the pros/cons. I, too, have wondered about the air fryer option on the Blackstone and how much I would really use it, or if it just looks like a great idea in the store. Happy Easter to you and your family!
Good video Neil lots of information in this video my friend ! I hope you and your family have a great Easter Sunday,, I bought a 4 burner blackstone , I thought it was to big at the time... Now it's to small, can't afford a 6 burner campchef but when I can afford a 6 burner I'm gonna get a campchef . thank you guys FRANK FROM MONTANA......
So, as far as i was able to understand your opinion (im german) u told us that ceramic is the best way to go... how thick is this ceramic plate from pit boss ? is it able to store the heat? Mainly im going to do smashed bugers.
It may have sounded like that but that was not the intention..yes this can handle smashburgers with ease...I have plenty of videos with this model...breakfast, burgers and steaks
@@TheFlatTopKing I have a 36" Blackstone and a Campchef Professional SG 90 Griddle to use on my 3 burner camp stove. I am looking for a more portable one to use for tailgating, camping, and on vacations. Looking at the Blackstone Adventure Ready 22" with a hood and a stand.
Yup, I reached out to them to get more clarification because so many people commented about the warranty issue, replacement griddle tops if damage occurs, etc.. I honestly felt like the response had a bunch of gray areas, and they said that each and every customer would be taken care of on a case by case basis... so going forward, I adjusted my advice and I actually edited that part out of the video... I always want to be 100% open and honest with you all and I try to give you the most accurate info. I will update everyone as I get more info, but like I said, my integrity and the integrity of the information that I provide to my viewers is my number one priority! (I pinned a new comment to the top of the comments on this video too. )
Speaking of brands... Have you looked at the Nexgrill line? They make a 4 burner stainless that's pretty impressive... Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks for all the great content!!
What is your recommendation for a built in griddle? Would it be possible to convert the campchef or pit boss into a built in version that would work with an outdoor kitchen?
Well I personally do not have experience with that idea...the griddles would be the same but I have not done it.. So some things that go into it... 1. be careful of grease trap...both underneath and back...that way its easy to get to.. 2. how much heat it puts off around the unit.. 3. I am assuming it would have to be straight lined for natural gas ...so the griddle would have to accept that. Lastly we have a group on fb called The Griddle Group on FB and this would be a perfect topic...you would get actual responses from people that have done it...and they will have pics as well
Man now I’m so confused. I just found your channel today as I was researching griddles. Now I’m really confused on the metal utensils. Their website and all I read is no metal use. Ugh! Thanks for your videos.
I am confused as well....I just relay the information given to me by Pit Boss...I have received a lot of comments about this topic. I will try to reach out and get a professional answer in writing...
great information, thanks. I am looking for a flat top to compliment my smoker and this was a good breakdown. Leaning pit boss but still doing more research since I am a little bit out from buying yet
I was a charcoal guy for years. I could cook almost anything on a Weber Kettle. Then I got disabled. It's difficult for me to get up and down the porch steps, especially carrying things like trays, plates, etc. Can't use a charcoal grill on a screened in porch. Can I safely use a gas flat top on my porch?
Yeah its more about proper ventilation than any thing else. Blackstone actually has an indoor model that is similar to the pitboss griddle surface. Could be the perfect solution in your needs
I was all in on the Pitboss, I question the toxins being released with their coatings . I’m sticking with cold rolled steel to stay on the safe side .,
No problem. I think and no for sure that was a thing in the past. That was note from Teflon not ceramic coated. That’s completely different technology. Not saying yes or no just giving all information
Nice thorough break down. I am leaning towards getting a Blackstone since I don’t currently own a flat top. The air fry model seems to check all the boxes. Are you saying that the air fryer function is not worth the extra $200 on the 36” model? How does it work compared to a counter top air fryer?
I dont know that why I was like hey its got something I don't have. I do know if I had to do it again I would not get the same one. The air fryer is just not being used as I thought I would...Which one who knows but its already bought
I mention this on this episode to be exact...th-cam.com/video/cFznXpsAKMc/w-d-xo.html Its my grilled cheese video...I think there is a time and place for everything and I just prefer the butter to mayo on toasted bread..
I like the idea of having grill grates on the camp chef but, I'm really leaning towards the pit boss. Ugh. I have a weber Kettle already. Great video! Thanks.
I havent used the grill nearly as much because of that same idea. I have a weber and prefer the charcoal taste. That to me is like a perceived value...Also in my next video I will explain that although its a gas grill since there is no lid it really dosnt work as well as it should.
I’m a cast iron guy, my teenager has destroyed Every non stick pan we have ever owned. Except the set my wife washed with a green scotchbrite. I’m still not sure if she did that for a new pot and pan set 😂. Anywho, my vote would be for a steel surface, if it gets wrecked, easily cleaned and reseasoned. Just my $.02
If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought a Camp Chef instead of a Blackstone. I find it ironic that a company like Blackstone with poor quality of construction has a very weak and unreceptive customer service department. I finally fixed the issues myself. Another lesson learned the hard way…
EXCELLENT VIDEO.... WOW!!! Fantastic My brother had a Blackstone... loved it... had a cover, thought it was "COVERED" next spring, uncovered it... Totally RUSTED really really bad! Get a HOOD...
I'm curious: Does anyone have any problems with critters? I'm in a suburb near a river, across from farms and some undeveloped land. It's not unusual to see squirrels, 'possums, raccoons, and yes the occasional rat (Geez, how I wish my neighbors wouldn't leave their pets' food out overnight: the rats use the fence lines as an interstate!). I can imagine some of these might snuffle around a recently used, freshly oiled griddle if it's always outside. Anyone have any problems like that
We had a blackstone... always "Seasoned" it... it doesn't take that much OIL... so I don't think the critters will bother it. I used to live up in the mountains... had lots of critters... BEARs... DEER... etc... never had a problem with my grill... unless there was TRASH left out... Never leave trash out... BEARS love it.
I dunno . . . I opened the lid on my grill a while back and found two mice boinking in there. I just found a lot of mouse / rat poop all around my griddle and my grill this morning and they are both clean.
damn.. ive been leaning hard into the camp chef 4 burner and just realized that wont work for me because I plan to sit it next to my pellet grill on my small covered patio, so it wont fit with the left side shelf up that I'll need for the grease tray.

I have 2 camp chef 2 burner explorers. One has the 24 by 32" griddle top And the other one I use as a stand alone For boiling seafood making soups, Canning, Baking bread etc. I am an excellent chef And the only thing I have an ego for is my knives, And that being said Camp Chef in its simplicity and reliability and durability is my choice. I don't buy all the hyped up gadgets To try to impress people, My food will do that.
Thats a great input...I am cooking fried fish and hushpuppies today for easter and will be using my Camp Chef 2 burner explorer as well. It's a great outdoor accessory for anyone who wants to cook outside.
For a grease liner if it is needed I just line mine with tinfoil! I do the same on my Treager! I don't buy liners! Heavy duty tinfoil works just as well!

I have absolutely no interest in owning one of these propane powered flat top griddle whatsoever. Yet, I watched this entire video from start to finish. You are very informative and have a way of holding the interest of even the non interested. Well done, sir. You have talent for this.
Much appreciated..,,, hey you never know till you try. Has changed my world
Your candid attitude of this is how I use the griddle like it or not is awesome. With that, your videos are very informative. Also, your videographer deserves a significant raise. Keep up the great work.
Awesome, thank you! The camera woman is my wife....we will keep that raise a secret...ahhahaha
Pros and Cons. My choice is Blackstone. Fits every category with me. Very versatile. I have also cooked on flat tops for over 20 years in the military.
Hey thanks for your service....absolutely thats what make the world go round....pick and choose base on needs
This is one of the best videos out there. Probably the only one. Thanks we need this to help people make the right choice. I have a Pit Boss 3 burner and a 2 burner Blackstone for camping. Love them both.
Wow, thank you! yeah that seems to be the idea. Alot of people have two just for that reason....
I'm only 1/2 through the video. I love how passionate this man gets about, what some people refer to the little things. I hope this makes sense. Great work on this video. Stay passionate amigo. 🍻
TY......its the little things..
Great tips!
Thanks Steve...I love my camp chef as well
You would pop the breaker with an electric skillet if it’s in a f150
Being able to use metal utensils on the Pit Boss is sure to be a game changer for lots of folks. Great video👍😊
It sure is! Thats why i wanted to wait to reveal the information....
I love it…but I’m still not convinced lol. I’m very nervous about it 😂
My question is, “What changed?” There are a handful of them out there, that have held up, for a few months? While people don’t so much as shake/stir a pan on the surface? So now they have passed the test of time? Pit Boss makes high end stuff. I’m not ripping them. I just wish they would show a bit more integrity in their advertising.
@@jaredbaratono897 once again I completely agree
Thank you!
You are so welcome! Glad it was helpful
YOU SIR!!!!!! Spent A LOT of my beer Money,,,,, just went with the pitboss 3 burner. Keep up the great videos
how do you like it?
I bought a 360° griddle one month ago, almost by mistake and without knowing anything about this product. Now this griddle is working non-stop, gracias! After watching your video I started to think for the next season to buy me a flat top grill like yours and give my beautiful 360° griddle to my father in law, and everybody will be happy 😉😉
What do you think about 360° griddle?
Honestly if its a griddle it cooks.....every single thing out there as goods and bads...there are horror stories and great stores. The best thing is to just be able to cook and enjoy the family while doing it
I have a blackstone range top combo. I use the stove top burners to do my fries or whatever else while smashing burgers or whatever else. I love it. The only issue I have is here in east Texas if you don’t cook on it for a month or 2 expect a lil rust to start showing up, even if you have oiled it after the last use and kept it covered. Outside of that it’s a great griddle 👍🏻
Great to know. Just real quick for more market research...DO you use two different covers. Soft and hard. How do you store it.
Thank you.
Awesome, thank you!
Not saying the Pit boss isn’t good, but it just wasn’t right for how I like to cook.
hey thats exactly what its about...getting the information and making the best decision based on personal needs..thanks for commenting.....
I love your common sense thought about what's relevant for what someone "needs" . Traeger griddle review please.
Working on it. I do have the new Weber with about 3 available videos
Great video
Question though
What top would you recommend for a Lake House that sometimes goes 3-5 months without a visit where the unit would sit out in the eliminates all yr around?
All good points, and they are the same points I went though as I was researching for my griddle. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Kevin.

Thank you for your service! And great info! I’m getting ready to buy 1 of these just not sure which one yet!
Well...i have an updated one as well if interested
in colder weather the grill gets cold and hard to heat big volume you may need a heat shield to save gas and jkeepm a higher temp. if it rains- a lid is the cover everyone will need.
Thank you again for your videos. Do you have any infortion or video coming soon regarding the new Weber Slate that is coming out soon. I have watched a few videos talking about not rusting and do not need to season. I have not yet purchased a griddle yet, waiting to see what is coming up next.
Great set up
Maybe one big question is GrillGrate. 🖖🕊️
Never tried em.....would be dishonest if I gave an option...
@@TheFlatTopKing Yes, was a leading question to maybe you would try them. Then, a consideration for later video.

The Boss would be my choice because it's preseasoned and I really like it's grease trap. Excellent video 👑.
Well thanks Jennifer...if you still have questions reach out and see if we can help
GBO
Much appreciated and brother that was the first one absolutely.....GBO GBO GBO!!!!
Good vid! I just ordered the pit boss sierra for a first griddle. now with the news of metal utensils on the pit boss, let's goooo!
A Million thanks for your honest and unbiased video. 👍🏾

Great timing on this. Was going to comment on one of your videos asking your opinion, but now I’m getting it. Anxious for part 2 so maybe I can finally make a decision 🤞🏻Thanks for all your videos!
Hope you enjoy it! Yeah part 2 is going to dive deep in both thoughts and parts....from the wheels to the covers.

I appreciate your response and love your husbands videos until I heard the Pit Boss endorsement .
Outstanding video shipmate. Metal utensils on the pit boss! That's it, brother. Mama is ordering me my pit boss as we speak.
Sounds good!
I'm legit buying one Friday or Sunday. Thanks Cadre, tremendous video. 👏

Great video.
Do you ever try the Eno plancha?
It's made of enameled cast iron. A product that comes from France. No need to do seasoning. Very good product!
No I have not...have not had much success over time with enameled cast iron....I wouldnt buy it based on my experience
Love your videos generally . Early on i believe you were using a Camp Chef then you got a sponsor from Pit Boss and changed grills . It is interesting that this video has an under lying preference for Pit Boss . My question would be has your sponsorship effected your preferences.. Just a thought
Thats the main reason I unsubscribed and refuse to watch the Waltwins anymore. They immediately went corporate line when the pit boss showed up.
Anything specific you want me to cover...I want to put out the best and alot of my stuff comes from input from you guys and gals

Yup, I reached out to them to get more clarification because so many people commented about the warranty issue, replacement griddle tops if damage occurs, etc.. Not a bad way to go
I like the 3 burner version of blackstone. 3 burners give more versatility when cooking. 2 is not enough.
Good points..
Question ? On your Camp Chef griddle have you ever put your Blackstone lid on to cook ... like to melt cheese or is it not tuff enough 🤔
I have not. At first I was really skeptical but now it make me interested. I have always been worried it would damage the Blackstone griddle top

Can I safely use a gas flat top on my porch?
I use my griddles and grills in my garage all the time if that helps ya. Just keep a couple doors cracked open.

Nice thorough break down. I am leaning towards getting a Blackstone since I don’t currently own a flat top. The air fry model seems to check all the boxes. Are you saying that the air fryer function is not worth the extra $200 on the 36” model? How does it work compared to a counter top air fryer?

Its my grilled cheese video...I think there is a time and place for everything and I just prefer the butter to mayo on toasted bread..
@@TheFlatTopKing Awesome. Appreciate the reply. Looking forward to more videos. Keep 'em coming.
Good information and delivery brother. 👊
Appreciate that
Great video my friend. Great in detail Explanation.
Thanks Alex
I’m a cast iron guy, my teenager has destroyed Every non stick pan we have ever owned. Except the set my wife washed with a green scotchbrite. I’m still not sure if she did that for a new pot and pan set 😂. Anywho, my vote would be for a steel surface, if it gets wrecked, easily cleaned and reseasoned. Just my $.02
very well said...with todays technology who know how long it will last...they have been on the market for over a year now and still going strong...
WOW!!!
Fantastic
My brother had a Blackstone... loved it... had a cover, thought it was "COVERED"
next spring, uncovered it... Totally RUSTED really really bad!
Get a HOOD...
Absolutely.....
Loved this. Now to talk hubby into a bigger flat top 😂
You got this! Just keep cooking that great food and tell him its an investment into his health.....ahahahha
Man u are awesome!!! Thank u for all the time.
No problem 👍 Thank you for commenting
Nothing a .22 won't handle
@@kkttss1928 Ha; yeah, I wish I wasn't in town, where I'm legally discouraged from plinking at critters. Squirrels in the sous-vide!
I dunno . .
I do have another video with updated new griddles if you haven’t seen it.
Very informative episode Brotha!! I still am looking for a new griddle, just havent made up my mind on which one. Cant wait for part 2. Happy Easter Y’all, Cheers 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
I got ya on this next one...Any questions you want anwsered
@@TheFlatTopKing id like to hear all your pro’s and con’s about each. I like your style of cooking and all the twists you incorporate. Your definitely a “MAD SCIENTIST” Brotha 😉👌. I am interested in your Pitboss, and now that you say can use metal utensils on it might be a contender. Im using a Cast iron flattop on a Camp chef explorer 2 burner stove but want an Official flat top. I think with the pitboss, my wife would be able to use it (less maintenance it seems). Personally id like to get a Camp chef or Blackstone like yours, but with this episode it made me rethink my wants. Appreciate any insights you give. Budget is around 3-500. im looking more functionality and comfort than the name brands, and since i’ll be doing most the cooking id like to see the pros-cons. again excellent episode. ive seen your Camp chef and Blackstone and would love to own 1 to Throwdown like you do 👊🏼😎🤙🏼!
I know everyone asks, but id like to know which of your 3 would you choose for ease of use/cooking abilities for the budget. Ive seen you use all 3 as well as your grill. Either way cant wait for the next episode 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
@@mikedelacruz3135 i got yeah. Ill work on it.

Is there a big difference in a 12,000 btu and a 15,000 btu burner when buying a griddle ?
Not on the top end heat....warming up and recovery you can tell but thats being picky...the average will not
Well I just bought the Blackstone 28” air fry yesterday.
Awesome news....
Heavy duty tinfoil works just as well!
great tip
I recently bought a char grill flat top! It was unseasoned! Had no problem seasoning it, just takes some time! I've had it for a couple of weeks now, we've made a bunch of different food including, tenderloin tips and scallops, smash burgers, corned beef hash and eggs, toast! Love everything so far! Easy cleanup and fast cooking! Love your videos! Keep them coming!
Thank you for this video! Currently trying to decide between the Blackstone 22” adventure ready or the Camp Chef 14 pro for camping. You brought up some really interesting points! We’ve recently been leaning towards camp chef because of all the options, but I didn’t even think about the fact that there is no hood! I know it’s not the camp chef you have, but have you come across after market hoods for the single or double 14” camp chef griddles?
Honestly no clue. Since i dont have one i dont look. I can tell ya that if you join our fb group called the griddle group, we have a TON of different griddle users from alot of different models for different reasons.
@@TheFlatTopKing thank you so much for your quick response! I will definitely join! We are a bit overwhelmed with all of the options and our first camping trip is just a couple of weeks away! Your Amazon links are fantastic too! Thank you!
