One of the issues for me with keep re-issuing the same album is that we are still waiting for things like ‘Elvis in concert’ to get an FTD release. Also, albums like Elvis is back and moody blue, potluck etc, should be released to the general public as general releases not just hidden away for Elvis fans with big wallets.
I don’t see any problem here, the original pressing will always be the original and different to the repress. I can’t see their value falling, which is probably behind the complaints.
Totally agree repress the hard to get ones , Only ones moaning are the folks who keep them sealed on a shelf , Your never gonna get rich on Elvis lol play and enjoy them , the next one is not a repress some will love it and some will not , I know what it is and I'm looking forward to it love Edward, il be back 😅
The Memphis box, most of, has been remixed by Matt Ross-Spang sans the over dubs. I'm assuming the Sun stuff hasn't touched as it's one track. That's the selling point for me.
I'm all for it too and I'm quite sure we'll see it come to pass for many of them. I too would love to see an FTD LP for Girl Happy. That is an album that never fails to cheer me up. When I was in high school and college and headed to the Jersey shore with my friends, we listened to Springsteen and the other popular music of the day during the trip BUT I ALWAYS started the trip with "Spring Fever" and anxious anticipation of the pretty girls that we'd meet. 😄
Are we still talking about this? LOL! Should they? You know my opinion. Not until they finish the original RCA U.S. LP catalog as FTD had planned. Leave the colored vinyl reisssues to DOL and Wax Time. Until then it IS a money grab.
Great video Mark, really pertinent topic. At the end of the day, it's all a money grab, there's no good reason to restrict the amount of copies the way they do, it's artificially engineering rarity for the sake of it. They don't need to use tactics to generate demand, they'd sell if they pressed double the amount that they do. As for the Memphis set out in August, I'll be getting because we're getting all the tracks newly remixed without overdubs
At this point in time, I really don’t care if FTD re-issues older titles, but what’s the point if you can get the same titles from other companies like Friday Music and Music on Vinyl or other secondary labels on colored vinyl for way, way cheaper? And I’m only speaking about original albums, not exclusive ones. 😊 To each his own. 😊 And I’m only speaking for original album titles not exclusive ones. ❤
I agree. Let everyone have a chance to grab any Elvis music that they desire and it should be there for anyone to have. It's great that they change it up each time they put it out and like you said, you can either grab it. Enjoy it. Have it for your collection and it'll be worth a lot of money in the future. Or you pass on it and let someone else enjoy it. However, with your questions about why not re-release Elvis's back and standing room only. I believe there were a few fires in the impulse Warehouse. Dad, all the FTD records were being distributed from and I believe whatever inventory they had on each album were destroyed and who knows it could be all of the original remastered everything. Maybe they would have to go back in and do it all over again and maybe time and money are not of the essence at this present time? I think at this point they like the idea of the scarcity of what is out there and what prices are going for. So if they did make it available those prices would go way down to almost nothing possibly. That's just my theory. I agree that they should come out with girl. Happy and many other movie titles and the early release. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for making these informative videos. It gets us Elvis fans chatting. We are a close-knit family and we love to share. That's what Elvis is all about
My opinion on it is, release them. There will always be high demand, and if some folks don’t want it, they don’t have to buy it. I’m really wanting to see Girl Happy and Paradise, Hawaiian Style released on vinyl by FTD! It’s coming sooner or later. 👍🏻
I was 18 when the Elvis is back FTD LP was released. I had just gotten into vinyl and had very little money. It sold out and was being flipped for $80 on eBay, a price I’d kill for nowadays. I’m all for it personally. Repress the old ones. There are some selfish collectors out there that forget there are fans like me that exist, with a “too bad “ mentality. Was I supposed to throw a hissy fit when Demon Dayz by Gorillaz was repressed and my original copy went down in value by a couple hundred bucks? These FTD’s at retail are expensive enough. We shouldn’t have to have 500-1000 for the older FTD’s.
Hi, Mark! Yes, I believe that people who have chosen to keep up with all of these FTD’s, Friday Music and whoever, are being ripped off, plain and simple. You’re buying RECORDS; you’re not buying rare coins or gold bullion here; they’re RECORDS. And to be shelling out hundreds of dollars for new vinyl in ludicrous to me.
FTD should treat all Elvis buyers of their products with Golden Gloves!!! We are the people that are the real collectors of Elvis’s records the most dedicated of all his fans. Come on FTD stop the greed I have an idea Sony /RCA start releasing Elvis later stuff all his new fans love 1974-1977 Elvis.
Hello Mark, I think it's a good idea to re-release the first hard-to-get vinyls. It's definitely nice for new fans or beginners. But we shouldn't forget the long-standing, loyal collectors who are waiting for new vinyl releases. Such as Girl Happy, Paradise Hawaiian Style or Harem Holiday and a few others. Because of the re-release of From Elvis Presley Blvd MT last year in black vinyl, there was only one additional new vinyl. Fun in Acapulco. This year, and it's already mid-June, there's only the re-release of Moody Blue. In my opinion, the re-releases would really delay new vinyl releases each year. That could or will really annoy long-time collectors. Not so easy for FTD to solve this problem. Greetings from Germany, Karsten
Hi Mark Hope your doing well. I am one of the ones that missed out on the 1st Ftd's. I just received my Moody Blue Ftd. I hope they keep releasing the older ones but maybe every other Ftd to keep everyone happy. I know you want Girl Happy to come out and I do too but I'm really hoping they release Follow That Dream on Ftd if they can find enough material. Have a good day Mark
You will be really missing out if you pass on the Memphis box, i heard a sample, and it sounds amazing! it will be mixed by MATT ROSS SPANG and that is enough for me to buy it, it is no re-issue or anything like that, an has an amazing cover-art + 2 LP set with highlights of this box, i cannot tell you what to buy, i am only saying you will be missing out.I already have the Moody Blue GOLD release ,i have both Moody Blue vinyl releases 👍
Absolutely they should repress them, and this is coming from someone that has the complete collection (and had to pay over retail to do get them all). There’s a lot of people that missed out at the time (me included), who back in 2009 were not even aware of FTD and who now, simply can’t afford them as they are pretty ridiculous at this point. To make them available to new fans can’t be a bad thing. For those that bought the originals, what they did with Moody Blue is great, i.e. differentiate the repress from the original. Personally, I’d like them to to do it in parallel with new releases, as you say there’s so many unreleased albums I’d like to see make an appearance on FTD vinyl, and I don’t want to wait while they repress and release the first 20 or so! I’m also confused a little as to why Moody Blue? It’s rare, but there are others as you said that are commanding $1000+, why not start with those? Anyway, as always, an enjoyable video Mark 👍🏻
Hi mark I totally agree with you I’ve got all the original FTD vinyl but I would definitely buy the first 6 again especially standing room only ELViS is back good times etc love watching your channel keep up the good work Keith from England
I have come extremely selective as well Mark and I have shifted my focus from FTD (vinyl) to vinyl of all US labels up to 1977. I quit collection FTD vinyls since budget wise. I can get 2 or 3 near mint originals for the price of 1 FTD vinyl nowadays. And with all the multicolored vinyl rereleases FTD is becoming more circus than serious collecting for me. We all make our own choices in the end. I have decided not to spend budget in FTD vinyl anymore, but that's a personal choice. QUESTION: Would you seriously buy all these multicolored rereleases repeatedly (buy every vinyl colour variant), even when you have the original first press of (let's say) Standing Room Only? Simply curious, no judgement 😉I know I buy every label variant I can get my hands on of any original Elvis album pre 1978. 😜
Yes, I will buy the re-releases for two reasons- 1) Since I own all the FTD vinyls, and am a completist, I want the variant. 2) The variants have a colored vinyl and/or a different cover! I think the FTD collection is so well done and meticulously produced, and for me, they’re at the top of the list. 👍🏻
There are some FTD vinyl I would love but they are just unavailable. I’ve only been collecting vinyl again for 2 years after selling all of mine originally when CD’s first came out .. I’d really love to be able to listen to them but I haven’t the opportunity, I’ve been a fan for 45 years but still haven’t heard everything. If they were to re-issue FTD vinyl then perhaps they could do so with a completely different colour centre label and keep it that way for all the re-issues so it’s obvious they are a re-issue
I think it’s a smart business decision by FTD. They see what’s going on in the secondary market with prices. I think this is actually taking care of the fans. Interesting that anyone would think it’s money grab. The money grab is people buying multiple copies and selling these releases at inflated prices. Dig a little bit on the people complaining the loudest and you’ll likely find someone in the business of selling Elvis related items. I don’t believe that the FTD label was created to be a supplement or a replacement for someone’s 401k plan or to be a means of someone making a huge profit in the secondary market. No ones being forced to buy these releases a second time. Just imagine the angst though of collectors wondering if there will be fewer copies of the reissues released than the originals. The other thing I find interesting about the high secondary market prices is that these releases aren’t like a mint Speedway mono album. Most of the FTD albums such as Standing Room Only are probably still in close to mint condition and I’m guessing maybe 25% or more are still sealed. Not sure how many were pressed but I’d guess 3000 to 4000. FTD would be crazy not to reissue the vinyl releases. Even if it meant selling a few thousand copies. The profits from these releases really should be going to FTD. If they really wanted to make fans happy they should look at reissuing some of the CDs of classic albums. Those albums usually contain much more music than the vinyl releases. They also sound as good or better than the vinyl. I know I’m long winded on this but I just don’t get the complaining. Thankfully RCA was wise enough in 1973 to keep pressing copies of Aloha From Hawaii after the first run.
I really don’t think that’s there primary reason for reissuing these releases. They have listened to fans who missed these when originally released. It’s the individuals choice if they buy it again. Collectors should just be happy they didn’t make these reissues exactly the same as the originals. That would have overnight crashed the price gouging in the secondary market. Ok I’m messing with the hardcore collectors a bit but what if it turns out these reissues are released in smaller numbers than the originals? Maybe at some level FTD is changing it up because they know that in addition to people who missed it the first time many collectors will buy again. Either way if profits are going to be made , better it’s FTD.
Hi Mark, I to are being very selective about future albums. I mentioned the That's Alright Mama box set to come out but the price is crazy. I to am expecting my copy of the Gold vinyl to go with my Moody Blue copy from a few years ago. The Standing Room Only album which I own and Ed mentioned I never thought would demand such crazy prices. I would like to see the gatefold reproduction of his Christmas Album. Keep the conversation going.
Thanks for watching! 👍🏻 It’s always great to see all of your comments, thoughts, and you think will work better going forward. I agree on many things you mentioned!
@@markselvisforeveryonechann1153 I have tried to pass on stuff myself but it is kind of addictive and you have to have it. I am actually 5 FTD soundboards behind because of purchasing other items such as Blue Hawaii making of set and the sessions, it has set me back a little but I will catch up.
💯% agree, it's becoming flooded. I got mine out of Graceland, and I did a review @kymoon99. Tyvm brother ⚡️⚡️yes re release so it will get a chance for us to enjoy those takes as well.

I agree, the opportunity for the new generation to buy these FTDs
It will give more people the opportunity to purchase and collect Elvis at a reasonable price. Nice video my friend love from the UK ♥ 🇬🇧
I don’t see any problem here, the original pressing will always be the original and different to the repress. I can’t see their value falling, which is probably behind the complaints.
Yep- the values on the first pressings should stay fairly steady. 👍🏻
Hi Mark some time buy look back some music you have Ftd on cds all good fun keep up cool video
I agree.
I just got the new moody Blue. I would also buy the standing room only.
Couldn’t agree more with you Mark, I’ve got no problem with them re releasing them, especially on different coloured vinyl
Hi Mark, cause I missed the first 10 except jailhouse rock I would like straight up copies, same covers and black vinyl

Re-Release it all. I don't think there is any plan to reissue every FTD in Color Vinyl. Its just these 2 Albums.
Hey Mark I just found out California Holiday is the next Ftd
I got some intel a couple months ago that this might be the next release! 👍🏻
You wouldn't know the release day would you?
Idunno what the ppl with the original releases are whinging about. Wont the value of the originals go up if FTD re release everything.
I was wondering the same thing...
The demand is there to repress the FTD vinyl, it makes sense to me. No way will you pass on the memphis set Mark. I'll believe it when I see it 😂
I’m definitely getting the Memphis lp set. I’m 50/50 on the cd set. It’s actually cheaper than I thought it’d be. 👍🏻
