I have been a Holmes fan for most of my life, ever since I read The Hound of the Baskervilles as a teen. One thing I could always count on with Holmes was a great plot that required actual thinking to follow & zero sex, foul language or gore.
So the victim of this crime drank a bottle of wine that was delivered to him anonymously, despite him not knowing who sent it, or where it came from, or knowing anything about it. Seriously? this guy deserved to be poisoned. This story of a murder committed by accident is very interesting and well worth listening to.
Milton Keynes did not exist in 1890s it actually became reality in 1967…. Also your books start the same a railway route. North American accents do not sound well reading English Victorian novels…..

"The guy"? I don't recall hearing that slang in Queen's English of the era.
It also seemed odd when Holmes began addressing the murderer by her first name.
Much better voice escaping the previous Americanization.
