WATCH THE ROCK with Nicolas cage🍇
Watch The Equalizer 2 please
Susan is the woman Robert McCall went to go get information about Teddy Vivian was Robert's late Wife who Died while he was doing a Mission and Robert Faked his Death to leave the Agency and made a promise at her grave to just live his life...but then all of this happened where Robert could not ignore it and broke his promise to help someone so innocent in need
If Anything you both should Watch the Pilot Episode to The Equalizer 1985 Series it doesn't spoil anything the Pilot Episode just lays down the main important Bases of who Robert is and why he does what he does...Now the series and movie are different when it comes to his personal life.
Back in the 80's people could advertise jobs in the back of Soldier Of Fortune magazine.
Essentially hiring mercenaries.
The magazine stopped this practice after a woman and a guy answering an ad were arrested by the FBI for plotting to kill the woman's husband with a hand grenade. (not kidding it was national news)
Denzel Washington does not disappoint
He's one of the big reasons I really dig Clive Owen, because Owen actually stole scenes from Denzel in Inside Man. Not a small accomplishment.
@@birch5757 Inside man is my fave Spike Lee film. Its not easy compliment but something in that film just is amazing. Definately top 5 heist films for me ever made.
Man on Fire.....enough said
💯
"Equalized" omg I love these two
He faked his death to essentially elope with his wife, from the Agency. While living that life with her, she died. The agency and his handlers, thought he was dead. When he felt the situation had escalated sufficiently, he went back to his handler for information. My assumption, and something kinda insinuated in most CIA/NSA films/books etc... you don't get to choose to leave.
Fun fact about his tactical skills: they were all made by an ex Navy Seal Keith Woulard who was an advisor on the film. When Denzel turns the lights on and off in the bathroom, he does it to effectively keep the Russian guy blind the entire time. His eyes cannot adjust as the lights keep turning on and off so he can't see anything.
I do the same to keep the ghosts blind in my house. They won't get me.
"Man on Fire" is another great Denzel movie. Denzel reunites with his co star Dakota Fanning in that movie in Equalizer 3 coming out later this year.
The original TV show was great. The premise was that Robert is a retired intelligence agent with a mysterious past, who uses the skills from his former career to exact justice on behalf of innocent people who find themselves in dangerous circumstances, while sometimes also dealing with people from his past in covert operations who want to pull him back in or settle old scores.
Me and my mom used to love that show!!
There's also a reboot of the series, starring Queen Latifah, that's pretty good.
Edward Woodward (RIP) was excellent in "The Equalizer" TV show (1985-1989). He won the 1986 Golden Globe Actor for Best Television Drama Actor for this role.
@DonRice I was going to mention this as well.
The reboot is based off the show, not the movies.
What a small world it is. Denzel was offered the role for that 80's show, and he has said he wanted to do it but he was doing St Elsewhere.
What feeling Denzel can convey with single stare might require other actors several sentences. That makes Denzel one of the greatest actors in our time.
Denzel doesn't do sequels, the mere fact that he's now done three of these is testament to how much he loves this character (and the director). I watched the old school TV show, and this is one of the best remakes/reboots ever made. Looking forward to watching the third one, especially since it's a "Man on Fire" reunion.
He also has an interest in doing a marvel movie but they've never asked him to do one , some rumors are that he might be playing professor x
@@antoineporche-rideaux4841 It's a nice idea, although with the current state of Marvel I doubt he'd sign up.
Denzel Washington has mastered the art of knocking you on your ass with just his stare.
The 1974 movie Death Wish is often considered the first vigilante hero movie. Great reaction. Thanks.
This movie and "John Wick" came out the same year. In fact, "The Equalizer" came out in September and "John Wick" in October. Interestingly, people looking back tend to see this film as a failure, and Wick as the winner, yet Equalizer had a box office of almost $200,000,000 while Wick stalled at around $80,000,000. I like both movies. In fact, I'd say this is my favorite Denzel movie, and Wick may be my favorite Keanu movie. "The Equalizer" feels a little more grounded in reality to me, while "John Wick" is an assassin fantasy world, but both premises are great.
That last fight was the perfect example of "i am not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me"
Denzel Washington is a national treasure and one of the greatest actors ever. You guys are going to love the 2nd movie.
The scene at 9:00 is so well done. In the US, 9800 is close to the max amount you can withdraw before attracting attention. Giving them the opportunity to bow out without risk. So he's basically saying, "I'm smarter than I look, are you?"
Close. $9,999 is the most you can withdrawl, anything more and you're required to fill out paperwork and be noticed.
@@darkzer0670 True, but even back then, toeing the line was considered suspiscious so going for 9800 was still smart, unless hes telling the truth and this really is all he had on hand.
Man On Fire, Fallen, Déjà Vu, Courage Under Fire, Malcolm X and Virtuosity! Decent Denzel movies!
Oh yeah! John Q and Unstoppable!
Great list. I would add The Bone Collector to it as well.
Malcolm x wasn't a decent Denzel movie, 1 it's about 1 of the greatest civil rights leader in Malcolm x and 2 Denzel should have won an Oscar for playing Malcolm x
Glory and Crimson Dawn were great films he did with Matthew Broderick, Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, Andre Braugher and Cary Elwes.
Another excellent film featuring Denzel Washington is Unstoppable, where he plays a veteran locomotive engineer trying to stop a runaway train loaded with toxic chemicals. It costars Chris Pine and Rosario Dawson.
Unstoppable is one of my favorite movies. It's not great but it's still a good movie to watch.
That would be awesome if they did a reaction with Unstoppable
FYI: that last scene was an homage to the tv series - in the series Robert put that add in the newspaper classifieds with a phone number for people to call. Awesome reaction guys. :)
I’m glad y’all got to see and liked this. The sequel is, in my opinion, one of those that is just as good as the original, so do look into it if you are inclined.
Fun fact:
This started out as a Home Depot employee safety training film.
You guys were confusing Susan (His friend in the Agency who thought he had died and the person Bill Pullman was talking about) with Robert's wife, who died when he was still in the service.
I'm so happy to see you are reacting to the 'Equalizer' series! I used to watch the original TV series, on which this is based, back in the '80's when I was a teen. I really liked the show then (British actor Edward Woodward played the role of Robert McCall). However, since I've seen the first two 'Equalizer' movies and plan on watching the third installment when it comes out soon, I have to say that Denzel's portrayal of the character is fantastic! I think he made the roll his. Great reaction!
You’re going to love training day he got the Oscar 😊🎉
They actually just followed Denzel Washington around on his average day.
"You think he's gonna do a 'John Wick'?"
This is where John Wick got the idea!
John Wick, NoBody, and Equalizer are what I’d like to call "Secret badass" genre.
Nice reaction and a good movie. The Equalizer was one of my favourite TV shows back in the day. I liked the nod to the TV show in the end because "Odds against you? Need help? Call The Equalizer" was McCall's newspaper ad in the TV show.
The Bone Collector is a good Denzel movie, he plays a paraplegic detective with Sherlock Holmes type intelligence and Angelina Jolie is his arms and legs solving crime from a serial killer, very suspenseful and dramatic. The Accountant starring Ben Affleck is another great action film and another good action franchise is the Jason Bourne movies starring Matt Damon.
Denzel is the 🐐. You did notice that he used many different methods to eliminate people throughout the movie. For me there's a good reason this movie was unique & unlike any other in the genre. Unlike any other movie of this type, he basically did all his work without a gun. He only fired 1 bullet from the bodyguards gun shooting Slavi in the neck. Other than that, he never fired a gun.
The Equalizer is one of my favorite action movie. Denzel Washington is just perfection in whatever movie he's in😊
One of my favorite scenes in Equalizer 2 showcases why Denzel is such an amazing actor. Everytime I watch that scene it gives me chills. His performance was just so powerful.
Thanks for the reaction to this movie! My family and I going through a tough time, as we lost someone very dear to us on Saturday night, as my sister's boyfriend, Marvin, passed away at the hospital following a motorcycle accident. He was 29 years old. You guys be safe out there and I'll see you in the next video.
if you guys haven't seen "Deja Vu" you should.. It's a super interesting murder mystery.. with Denzel.
No one ever talks about this movie and I don't understand why...it's probably my favorite Denzel movie
Denzel really is one of the greats going. One of my favorite roles of his is the movie, Philadelphia, with Tom Hanks. Hanks gets a lot of the deserving praise, but I love him in his too.
two guns. the equalizer 1 ja 2, man on fire, training day, deja vu, there is SOOOO many good films from Denzel
Edward Woodward played the equalizer in the tv show, i remember because as a child i really liked saying his name Ed wood wood wood 😊
Based on the 1985-1989 TV series of the same name.
Denzel Washington plays a former CIA operative turned vigilante to help those in need of his assistance.
There is a reboot of the series that takes place in the same universe as the movie, where Queen Latifah is the new Equalizer.
Lol the queen latifah shit is lame
the reboot sounds horrible. but then i pity anyone who has to follow after Denzel.
Another great by Denzel is Man on Fire, also definitely worth a look. Denzel builds characters like no one else.
The original show was that Robert was a former intelligence agent with a hidden past, he would use his skills to exact 'justice' for the innocent while often running into folks from his past to do favors or settle old things. And yeah, the former agent trope has been going on since the 50's, it's nothing new, the only thing that has been new is the level of graphic violence, which is why some folks like it so much now.
One of my favorite rolls Denzel played, was in the movie Glory. It's about the 1st African American Army regiment, (Massachusetts 54th) during the Civil War. Morgan Freeman and Matthew Broderick are in it as well.
I agree with your sentiment. The first African American regiment for the U.S. was during the Revolutionary War. The First Rhode Island Regiment. They wore yellow grenadier uniforms and were quite formidable.
Classic TV series becoming films or film franchises and actually being successful is a rarity.
Other than Mission:Impossible, there is The Equalizer.
One individual to even up the odds for the innocent.
Bringing the pain to the bad guys that deserve it.
I loved the classic tv series (1985-1989) with the late Edward Woodward since childhood.
It was revamped into a new original series with Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall/co-producer (since 2021, 3 seasons).
To have this great actor/filmmaker collaboration make something like this is very rare.
Denzel as McCall/co-producer and Antoine Fuqua directing didn't try to copy the show, beat for beat (except for the last shot).
I saw it in the IMAX format and it became Denzel's highest grossing film ever.
Part 2 is a must-watch, even more kick-a** and grossed more than the first.
Part 3 is the final chapter, Summer 2023 and it looks superb.
The Equalizer started as TV series and ran from 1985 to 1989. It also took place in Boson. But the character of Robert McCall was originally a white man who was a former British MI 5 operative who got out of the spy game and became a vigilante for good people who found themselves in dire trouble through no fault of their own. I loved that show. Yes, I'm "that" old. Now, besides Denzel's 3 Equalizer movies, the character has returned to the small screen. In 2021 Queen Latifah stars in the TV series called The Equalizer. She plays Roberta McCall. A former CIA agent who has her own team helping people in trouble. Season 4 of that show begins in January 2024
Denzel Washington is very different to Edward Woodward (in the original 'Equalizer' TV series), but still captures the spirit incredibly well. Classic 'Equalizer' is to first approach the protagonist openly and in a conciliatory manner, seeking a compromise that leaves the victim better off and, usually, the other side .... well, if not always free to carry on elsewhere , then at least with an "out" of some kind.
Then, when this offer is inevitably rejected by the bad guys, he proceeds to take down their entire operation in a very targeted and systematic manner.
Wait you guys haven't seen training day? That's easily his most iconic performance and a great movie.
I was about to reply almost exactly word for word what you said 😂
Great movie and the sequel is fantastic too.👍
This and the equalizer 2 made me such a big fan of denzel
He is my fav action movie actor for sure
This was filmed mostly in my hometown in East Boston Ma. What's strange is 3 movies were filmed on the same block as Robert's apartment. "Blown Away," "Mystic River," and this one... NICE REACTION BTW~
Yes this is such a good movie. Denzel is one of the greatest actors of our time. I cannot think of a bad movie he has ever been in. The original series was pretty good as well. In that series it was mostly done on a psychological level. Although the main character did have a few associates to handle the physical aspect of it all since he was an older actor, Edward Woodward (also a good actor pretty popular to Australian and English audiences), probably most famous for a movie called Breaker Morant (1980). A really good movie based on an actual character from the second Boer War 1899-1902.
He was also the cop (main character) in the original Wicker Man. A younger Woodward.
That invisible man book was propably a reference to the TV series "gemini man".
An 70's show were a man had a digital watch and by starting its countdown, it made the real him go invisible, "he just goes, beep".
But Whenever McCall started his digital watch, you could hear the "beep" sound, to make the real him "visible" for a while.
OMG yes... I remember that show. You are so right.
The original Equalizer TV show starred Edward Woodward and ran from 1985-1989. The thing I remember about that show was that he drove a Jaguar. Obviously, the show wasn't as intense as the movie, but it was a good show. Great reaction. I think you'll really like the second one. I'm looking forward to number 3 coming soon to a reaction channel near you.
He's like John Wick with less gun play. This is one of his best. He has so many though. He's my favorite actor.
So on a positive note, I like to say this. Denzel Washington comes from the city of Mount Vernon, New York. It is the same city that I grew up in. He makes us very proud to represent the city of Mount Vernon, New York. He never takes for granted where he's from. He always represents the city. We have a lot of talent from the city of mount vernon in different genres, whether it's actors, musicians, professional athletes, but denzel stands above them all. He makes us so proud.
His movie "Man on fire" is also worth your time. Denzel plays a good "dad" character even when he is single. The TV series "Equalizer" in 1985 was a weekly show centered about a retired CIA agent who this one seems to be based on. The 2008 series by the same name was Leverage and it was a team of crooks who were helping people being wronged by the power players in society. The 2021series staring Queen Lativa was pretty good and basically the same type of stories. All three series were fun but all were different. Good reaction to this one. Thanks.
A recent movie of Denzel is called “The little things” it’s a 2021 film, I loved it, if you haven’t watched it, I recommend it 😊
I don't recall if it was the Equalizer or another show, but I seem to recall Robert charging one future favor for the job. The favor, if he ever came to collect, would have to be honored.
Home Depot's slogan: 'You can do it. We can help' Nice reaction guys. I really enjoyed your incites and reactions. Cool
Awesome reaction guys!
Equalizer II is also really good, so I hope you'll watch that one. Man on Fire is another Denzel film where he pays a bad ass, so you might want to check that one out too. If you haven't seen The Bourne series with Matt Damon it's also similar with the "ex-assassin forced out of retirement" trope, though it's given a bit of a twist and all of the films in the series with Matt Damon are good.
You guys absolutely have to watch Training Day. It's a totally different role for Denzel but he was perfect in it. I'd go so far as to say that the success of the film was due to Denzel's charisma. Without him in that role I think the movie would have been an utter failure that was quickly forgotten instead of the tense thriller that it turned out to be.
In Equalizer 3 post credit scene, we will see him get a call from The High Table.
At least that's what I hope
Wouldn’t that be awesome!!!!!
I saw this film in the theater. It was a very good experience. Great reaction! 👍🏿
FUN FACT: The tattoos on a Russian Mobster each have a specific meaning in the hierarchy of the Mob. The number and type of tats that the main antagonist has indicates that he is an accomplished "special operator."
Fight wise the 2nd one has some pretty good choreography and the story is just as good if not better than the first. Totally a must watch
"you didn't remember.. the titans?!" 😂😂
This movie was based on a television series from the 80s that then spun off another series with Queen Latifah as "Robin" McCall.
Man on Fire another great movie by Denzel
The second one is every bit as good. Crazy good just like this one.
You guys were having sooo much fun watching this.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
Awesome reaction, can’t wait for you both to do The Equalizer 2….
Watch Glory if you want another good Denzel movie.
There is a 3rd Equalizer coming out in September. And there's a reboot Equalizer TV show going into it's 3rd season starring Queen Latifah, Denzel character name is Robert McCall and Queen Latifah is Robyn McCall.
There are a ton of good Denzel Washington movies out there, a lot of those directed by Tony Scott (like "Man on Fire", "Dejá Vu", "The Taking of Pelham 123" and "Unstoppable").
I am still waiting for someone to react to "Virtuosity" though, a sci-fi thriller from the 90s, with Denzel and Russell Crowe before his famous role in "Gladiator". Also starring a very young Kaley Cuoco (from "Big Bang Theory").
Magnificent seven too
bases for 1980's tv show was People in need found him through a newspaper classified ad: "Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer:
Some of my favorite Denzel roles:
John Creasy in "man on fire"
Rubin Carter in "The Hurricane"
Herman Boone in "remember the Titans"
Robert McCall in "The Equalizer"
The wife was always dead during this. You confused the one guy speaking about his own wife who Denzel was there to get info from.
Your "pre-actions" were especially fantastic. Very perceptive and humorous.
I also bring my own tea bags from home. That's where my similarity to the Equalizer ends.
Man on Fire might be my favorite movie of his. It's crazy good. I highly recommend it.
The music he plays in the store is "Midnight Train to Georgia", by Gladys Knight and the Pips. That's the group and song he was referencing when the kids in the store asked him what he used to do.
At the beginning of the movie Denzel explains he used to be one of the Pips from the group Gladys Night and The Pips. The song played in HomeMart near the end is from Gladys Night and The Pips.
At the beginning Denzel says he was once one of the Pips from a music group.
At the end when the power came back on at home depot, the song that played on the PA system was from Gladys Knight and The Pips.
The guy with the mustache at the end that he kills plays Paz Viszla in Mandalorian
Denzel is a masterclass!! Very much enjoyed your reaction!!
I'm SO glad that You Guys got around to Reacting to this Movie!
I think my favourite line in the Equalizer was when Ralphie was telling McCall he made the weight and he sees his hand and asked what happened, and McCall says “Hit it on something stupid.”
Ya’ll gotta watch Denzel in the suspense/thriller “Sphere”!
You’d probably also like the remake of the Equalizer TV show starring Queen Latifah. It’s going on season 5.
Movies like The Qualizer, John Wick, Taken, The Punisher, V for Vendetta, and even The Fast & Furious franchise are referred to as “Vigilante Action”.
And then his slogan became, "Call me, beep me, if you wanna reach me."
thank you guys and I love you both too
Yes there was an old TV show called The Equalizer. It was good for it's time. Nice stream guys!
As a teen in my early 20's i used to watch the original TV series on CBS from 1985 to 1989. Robert McCall was played by a british actor name Edward Woodward. And of course now played by Denzel Washington (Robert McCall) a former special service commando. Cant wait for the 4th one to come out.
Sorry i meant the 3rd one which is coming out on September 1, 2023
Can’t wait for you to watch the sequel!!! Love this series
Denzel's Equalizer was released before each of the movies mentioned in the reaction. It is the OG of the lot.
Denzel Washington in "Glory" should be required for anyone learning about the Civil War and he won an Oscar for his leading role.
Denzel is a great Actor as well as a decent and humble human being. He’s absolutely 💯 Great in everything role he’s played. 👍🏽✨🌟
The Equalizer is one of the best action movies out there. Denzel Washington is really cool although I prefer this compared to Part 2 because the end was very satisfying here! Thanks for your reaction!
His wife never thought that he died. They both lived after he "retired" but she died after. That's why Susan told him to "go be him" to be the person he is and not the person was with his wife.
This one was a very fun movie to watch and I'm glad that you both dug on it. :) Really did like this one.
Virtuosity and Fallen are two great Denzel movies honestly I don't think he's ever made a bad movie
The 80s Equalizer on TV was played by Edward Woodward, an English man. Yup, the TV series was from across the pond. They kept the character's name though - Robert McCall. No craigslist but there were newspaper ads. Equalizer equalizes the odds.
Equalizer in the TV show was basically a one-man A Team...he has OCD and does everything by the numbers to contol the environment...which people with OCD do...repeating certain actions over and over
this was shot in East Boston and South Boston. His shoes are New Balance as they're a Massachusetts sneaker company and their HQ/factory is here in Watertown and also Fenway.
Man on Fire...gotta watch that one. One of the best Denzel roles ever.
This is one of my favourite films
For funsies - the music he plays over the store's PA at the end is Midnight Train to Georgia .. by Gladys Knights & The Pips (His 'former job' as the "one on the right!" ) :P
And chap with marvellous moustache who had the run in with a mirror shard.. dealt with by both John Wick and Robert McCall! (In JW1 nightclub scene, slammed on table by beard and 2-tapped.)
The sick thing about that nail gun he's using at the end. It's a Nail Driver. It uses .22 caliber blanks to fire nails. So it's twice as powerful.
