It has been a while since I updated you guys on what I do for work here in Longyearbyen, so I thought it was time to sit down and have a chat :) I also talk a little bit about my previous jobs and bring you guys on a photo assignment, as well as test out the new editing software Luminar Neo! The incredible pink skies are also back over Longyearbyen! I will be doing a more in-depth video about how to get a job in Longyearbyen in the near future! I hope you enjoy the video! 🧡

I love to hear the sounds in your video. Like the wind blowing and then you narrate how cold it is. It made me pull out a fluffy throw to cover myself up.
A beautiful sweater, his mum is very talented, as a knitter I know that is a labor of love right there.
Svalbard seems like such an enchanting place to experience nature. Throughout your videos I've seen insanely dramatic views that look like special effects in movies (like the Rayleigh dispersion), and the complete opposite of deeply serene and peaceful moments. My family came to the US from Sweden and Denmark several generations ago, but I watch these videos and feel my blood calling me there. I should experience this in person one day. It just looks amazing.

Oh my goodness Cecilia! The skies are spectacular! It must bring a little respite to the darkness. I’ve been modeling your new morning routine and even though we have daylight, the gray days and shorter days do impact my emotions. Your new routine has really made a difference. I’ve been putting happiness into the little things and I even got a “self care journal “ at my local bookstore and have been doing one or two things they list a day and journaling about them and how I’m putting joy into everything I do. Wow what a difference it’s been in combatting the winter blues. I’ve also been sharing your videos w friends and family and you have no idea how much they love your videos and how much you’ve touched our lives here in NEO (northeastern Ohio). Can’t wait to get to Svalbard and give you (and grim) a hug for all of the wonder and awe you’ve brought back into my life. the sweater is beautiful, when I was in Bergen, bought a typical Norwegian style sweater, and I love it. Neo is very nice, I use another companies program though. what is nice about these programs, they can be worked rather quickly as you mentioned. Every serious amateur should have one.
When you first stepped out of your cabin, the sky was red/orange seriously there could have been an active volcano close bye!!! Such beauty.......we all thought the aurora's were epic, now this too!!! I'm moving :)

Having read that one of the two undersea cables into Svalbard has recently been cut, I was concerned that your data access onto the Internet would be restricted or even blocked. So, I'm very pleased to see your latest video and hope that full connectivity is soon restored. I appreciate how important guaranteed access to the Internet is to your work.
I read that too and that was my first thought as well until I got to the end of the article, some Norwegian minister said it wouldn't affect day to day life of people there cause they have two cables just in case. That's a scary thought though, especially for someone who's livelihood depends on the Internet.
SpaceX Starlink will help provide Internet. It’s developing and we’ll be able to connect all the amazing places in the world like Svalbard!

That is a beautiful sweater, Christopher's Mother is very talented. Grim is still confused at why you speak to the box and not him, lol. Our dog will sit between the camera and us and stare at us like we are crazy talking to the camera.

Where you live there is the most diverse color of skies it is really unbelievable. It almost looks like Mars today.

That program is incredible. I worked for a civil engineering office for 11 years and during my time there this program would have come in SO handy. I had to learn Photoshop, Acrobat and AutoCAD from scratch and thankfully I can somewhat navigate around all those programs, but something like Luminar Neo would have worked so much better when it came to editing graphics to insert into .DWG files.
I noticed the programs that you talked about I too was in civil engineering and surveying engineering early 90s maybe you were in the same Timeframe anyway yeah things have gone a little more cohesive
@@katadam2186 I worked in a civil engineering office from 2004 - 2015. It was a government operation, and they were not using the latest version of their AutoCAD or Photoshop software when I first arrived.
I had never worked in that kind of environment before in my life, but I am very knowledgeable where IT is concerned, so I was able to get their AutoCAD software upgraded to the latest versions. However, the government would not approve further updates to Photoshop and it fell by the wayside.
That was right around 2015, and government decided that my position was not longer needed so they "deleted" it and moved me to my current position working for an Air Force flying squadron. But I loved my time working in the civil engineering office. I learned Photoshop, which I still use at home, I started to learn AutoCAD, which has pretty well been forgotten, but I also got to rescan and reorganize thousands of drawings, reorganized all of the project files, ensured as-built drawings were received and organized correctly, stuff like that.
After I was removed they tried to get me to return, and recently had an opening they wanted me to apply for, but I'm treated very well where I now work and have no desire to leave. But they just hired an AutoCAD major, and I know that person very well, and they are getting a quality employee. In addition, there was no way I was going to return because the person who removed my position in 2015, and could have saved it, is still running the shop and there is no way I'll ever work for him again. I like working where I am, and they still ask for my help from time to time, but no way I'm going back.
Your work is absolutely beautiful! I'm so thankful for talented people like you for enabling me to travel to such beautiful places vicariously through TH-cam.

@@CeciliaBlomdahl Ah, thanks - & yes, that would be so appreciated; I don't know whether you were doing the proper-busy city thing in Stockholm/Göteborg🇸🇪 or if you lived in a more quiet area there, too - but it would be interesting to hear how a more remote setting changes one's everydays & outlook on life; feels like everybody is chasing stressful jobs & higher salaries, and so are drawn to these bigger cities, but you seemed to have found a very nice, balanced way of life in an astonishingly harsh, but beautiful, place.🔮❄ Definitely seems like a better place for mental-health than London atm, haha!
