Goodness, poor baby! Sounds like neglect at best and abuse at worse. I'm so glad she is with you guys now! It's a miracle she's alive.
Clipping wings to that degree is definitely abuse, birds need to retain some flight feathers in order to balance safely (especially for a bird with a leg problem), no avian vet in their right mind would cut straight through all the flight feathers (some of those feathers were likely blood feathers and would bleed painfully) let alone clip a single feather that far back.

Glad you’ve got her “in time”. I would fix her leg ASAP - Being able to regain balance, no longer having the infection nor the pain (and its associated negative impact on her psyche), should help her heal faster, physically and emotionally.
It’s a shame what they did to the helpless bird. She’s blessed to have you.

I think she needs some time to heal up her respiratory infection, get more comfortable with the area, and gain more strength before it's safe to attempt the procedure, hence why Jessie said that they would wait. I imagine going too soon into the procedure before she at least regains some vital strength could risk killing her.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 Very true! Birds are especially fragile when it comes to going under anesthesia, and can have their hearts stop as well as their breathing with no warning! They're one of the most fragile and delicate creatures you can attempt to put under! I've seen more birds suddenly go into respiratory or heart failure than any other animal in all the animal-ER shows that I've seen- and they're the most likely not to recover.
Getting the respiratory infection cleared up first is VITAL to having her survive a procedure on her leg. They can't really re-break and set it properly while she's awake!
Some people are absolutely disgusting. I'm glad you're their to offset them and pick up their discarded beings.

Yep, but might be the way to go if the sharp end of the bone keeps cutting her leg and getting infected.
Hopefully it'll heal up enough that that stops happening. 🙂 I'm just really glad she's with animal wonders now.
It does sound like a nightmare! It'll probably be under anesthesia though, so slightly less horrible than the first time.

It breaks my heart to hear how badly she's been treated, and what terrible condition she was in when she came to Animal Wonders. Poor thing must have been in so much pain. Now that she's in a safe place and getting the treatment she needs, she already looks so much happier! Those tail waggles don't lie! ^_^
toucans are such sweet birds and never deserve that type of pain! I hope she gets perfectly healthy and happy!!

I loved the way Zeema looked at you when you tried to offer her the meal worm..as if to say "Your giving that to me" or 'Eww that is an awful thing and I do not like food that squirms" Very cute. Zeema is so cute. I have seen full grown Toucans at a bird store but not a baby one. I am so glad she will be well taken care of now... Thanks so much Jessi..!

I must admit, it's been quite a while since I watched one of your videos. Not sure why, but that's besides my point.
Two things; I'd forgotten how beautifully admirable your ethics are at Animal Wonders. The respect and love you show every animal that you feature is truly heartwarming. Secondly, as cliché as it sounds, I've determined that Jessi is much like a fine wine, she really does get better with age. Maybe I've just got a soft spot for gingers but wow, you're looking great Jessi!
