A belt drive would have been great, I see the Shotgun as Royal Enfield's Sportster, so why not? But at least Royal Enfield still know how to make a center stand, most other manufacturers seem to have forgotten.
I agree, I was going to buy a new SM650, but for a bit less got a very low miles C50T suzuki... the shaft drive was the winner. Had the Enfield been belt drive??
This is a lovely bike. The price is amazing. Royal Enfield is doing some terrific marketing research. They are giving people all over the world a motorcycle that can put a smile on anyone's face. Quality, finish, value and dependability. They are building Brand Loyalty, and I would like to have one.
I have to say I am getting a bit tired of RE just repackaging the same old engines and chassis over and over again. It's about time that they developed some larger capacity bikes (I know they recently brought out a larger capacity Himalayan) rather than just relying on two main engines. It is all rather boring for one of the largest motorcycle producers in the world.
Thorough review as always Mark, I think Royal Enfield can be forgiven for the relatively heavy weight of the Super Meteor as it’s a cruiser, but the Shotgun I’m not so sure ? Not everyone wants a retro but if you want a Shotgun there’s a heavy penalty to pay in weight 🇬🇧
so for all you folks asking for negatives- low ground clearance/ low tank capacity/ simple insteumentation/ suspension needs tiffening to be more comfortqble/ - BUT you see all these are very subjective and some or other bike is better or not ao good in all these, what matters most to RE is the the way you feel when you take this out for a spin and it delivers that fun for sure at an incredible value, for those who own a RE 350, this is a very good upgrade to twin cylinder fun with a comfortqble and good looking ride😊😊

Looks like the foot pegs are a bit further forward than the Interceptor's. That is good because the Interceptor pegs are kind of in the way when sitting with both feet on the ground. Any other noticeable differences between the two bikes?
I picked up on that too. I would need a test ride to see what I think of the Shotgun, but the Intercepter felt like a top heavy sled when sitting on both. I dismissed it straight out.
Nice review Mark. As an older rider I appreciate the machinery here. Problem I saw was it's weight. Same as my old Triumph Sprint GT SE, with full panniers and top box! Center stand is good. Also reminds me of a Bonneville I had with Air/oil cooling. It's £1600 more than the Triumph Speed 400, which is still top of my wish list. Cheers and safe riding.
Hi David yes the new triumph 400 is brilliant....I will say though that even though the shotgun is 240 kg wet ...it really doesn't feel it Best wishes mark
Great review Mark as usual but in this colour not the best but I can’t get my head round the rear mudguard 😮 It spoils the look 👀 obviously it would look better with a single seat in my opinion 😊😊 Atb phil
Thank you for the close-up shots! Most reviews do beauty shots, no actual close-up footage so those who can’t see them yet, get to glimpse at the finish of the bike.
As an owner of a Classic 350 I feel like this is the closest thing to a Classic 650 that we're gonna get. Given the styling, I understand all the comparisons to the Super Meteor but really it seems more like an upgraded Classic to me (minus that cool Classic dash), with the mid controls and that bobber-style single seat.
Bet that exhaust will be a rust magnet . looks so so , but that exhaust and seat need replacing looks a bit messy . Not for me though . service intervals are a bit low as well , 6,000 miles till a service valves need doing as well .
Dear Mark, you are the best bike TH-cam reviewer I've ever watched. Not focusing on technical specs but on riding sensaions with honesty and a delightful britiish spirit. I'm 52, trying to get my license. I want to become a rider for those sensations you describe so well. You convinced me to consider this bike to be my first bike (and maybe my only bike). When I'll pass my license exam of course. Many thanks from the orher side of the Channel.
That removable metalwork at the back all looked a bit messy TBH but I love the fact that you can do two up, or one and some bags or a bobber in one bike, how good is that?
Hi Mark Well done another excellent review, what a beautiful looking machine, nice colour and so nice to see a bike with a main stand for chain maintenance. Very impressive bike . Many thanks Dean
I live in Cambodia, though, I am from the Isle of Wight. Just ordered one of these and they are $6500 USD here, so an amazing price. I have watched quite a few videos about the shotgun and this for me was the best. Cannot wait for it to be delivered!
240KG??? Is that with the rider?? 🤣where does all that weight come from?! And it's not overly blessed with power/torque to punt it along? However it sounds nice and it seems to ride well too. Cheers Mark 👍

I think this is a good looking bike and look forward to seeing what the custom scene does with it. My main gripe is the silencers, bike is a bit more modern looking and a pair of gently upswept peashooters could look great, in black of course… those massive cigars give the bike a weighty appearance. Not in the market for a new bike, already have a modern and classic Triumph, but this would be on the list if I was! Great review, also helps you’re not 6’ + so it’s a real world review for me 😅
Very nice looking bike Mark, I wonder how it is that Royal Enfield have got these into the country for review.... yet they haven't managed to get new customers the Himalayan 450 they ordered at the end of last year. Great review mate.
That's a fair comment on the 450 Himalayan, I've Been informed that they may not be delivered before end April 24 .......not even demo bikes available as yet 😢
@Grumpysprout yes, my dealer informed me last week that deliveries will now indeed start at the end of April 24. All dealers at that time will also get a display bike and 5 bikes for stock.
If I was about to buy this motorcycle this collor would definitely be my option. It fits so well with its classic design and it reminds me about the military herritage of this legendary brand.

Like to the looks and the price, but... That weight! Yeah I know, built like a tank! I owned a triumph street twin 9OO for 3 years, good bike, but wanted something lighter to throw around a bit, got got a trident 660. Anyway, the street twin weighed 216kg, 23 kg less than the shotgun, with 64 bhp and 59lb torque. Which, is a big difference when riding. An 850 version version of the shotgun, would have me buying one, I hope they make one. Thanks for the video.
Unimpressed by the Shotgun so different from the prototype from 2022, that had a more chunky look, big wide fuel tank, solid steel wheels unique paint job it looked like a real bobber, this is just a Royal Enfield "bitza" (bitza this and bitza that). It's just made from parts out of the spare parts bin, let's paint the engine and exhaust of 650 meteor black and stick a petrol tank from the hunter on there, 9k bosh job done. And let's be honest you can get a hundred other bikes for 9k and they are closer to €13k here in Finland.

He's gone to the trouble of preparing this content for our viewing pleasure, whilst we luxuriate on our backsides in the warmth supping our coffee.
These are general overviews and interpretations of what the bike is like. They're HIS interpretations.
If this machine, or any others he's looked are of interest, then it's your responsibility to get up off your arse and book a test ride for yourself.
Simple really. 😁
Perfect thanks mark ... really appreciate that
Best wishes
@@markpulling12 No worries, Mark. You keep 'em coming. 👍
Mark,is this engine power enough to give thrills?
Oh yes it's pretty quick :) 😀
I need to try one though I'm conscious that a Guzzi V7 can be had for similar money
An excellent review. R.E. are really stepping up the quality.
Many thanks 👍 I appreciate that
Cheers mark
And the price
the more you look at it - the better it gets ,,,,, fit and finish looks great and is all important in this horrid wet climate ,,
you say 795 mm for seat height. My SM650 is 740mm . Or did i hear you incorrectly.
795 mm yes correct that's what it says online ....your SM is quite a bit lower cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Wow. Just checked and you are spot on. Been short in leg i am glad i got the SM650. Goes to show that you can learn summat new every day.
I love this bike especially with the rear seat off.
Great looking, very 1940s, a few decals I'd remove but that's just me.
Great rear mudguard, very classic, no tail tidy nonsense 🙄
Centre stand , fantastic.
Air filter, easy access 😎
I agree Mark 5 Star Bike.
Thanks Mike it's superb to ride
Cheers mark
