The fact that Raul Julia was losing his battle with cancer, but still did this movie because his kids loved the game, brings tears to my eyes. That man is a legend. He gave that role everything it should be. Legend.
yep, he was literally dying as he did this role as M. Bison (which honestly his actual dying state, made him look so good as bison), and gave it his very all (his literal last n dying performance), and all for his own kids, as they loved the street fighter game so much (I actually think this is a really good movie, especially for a fighting video game, this movie and mortal kombat movie, the original MK 1 movie --- I've not seen the 2021 movie yet, are both really good fighting video game movies, I really don't at all understand why people think this is a bad movie, it's good, yes it's campy-corny, but it's still good, and then add in dying raul as M. bison, as cream on top of the cake, laughs) (I think I really only knew of Raul through this movie and of course with the addams family movies, but I don't think I've seen any other movies with him in them)

Zangief is a treasure. Raul Julia is definitely MVP, but Zangief had a STRONG second place showing for comedy in that film. His ridiculous timing on his humor was divine. Love Zangief in this

Hawk is Gregg Rainwater, who is actually part Native American, and the dude who played Vega is Jay Tavare who is part Native American, part Spanish. The dude is 50 years old and is still shredded. Kenya Sawada did try out for Ryu, turns out, they liked him so much that made a character for him in the movie, and even kept his name. This movie is beautiful.

Then some of the fights ended up being too violent for ratings (like fights with Vega's claws) and had to be cut altogether. Production on this movie was such a disaster but Raul Julia just makes it amazing.

Ever since I first saw this as a kid, whenever this movie comes up I summarize it in two words: Raul Julia. Plus, Ming Na had to get her start somewhere.
The story was, that Raul Julia, given a script that offered no real backstory for his character, came up with a backstory on his own to provide motivation for his acting. If memory serves, he came up with the idea that in Bison was the sun of a major South American drug lord who is raised in European military academies. That's how great an actor and what a consummate professional he was. Even when making a Bee movie for his kid, he still did everything he could to give the best performance possible
I liked it as a kid and as time has gone on it to me has stayed great. This and the first MK movie are just awesome. Also lets take a min to appreciate that they didnt make Kylie take her pants off to wear the game costume. It was the 90s and its just shocking that they held back. This movie was smarter than I think it gets credit for.

I love SF the movie. I remember when it came out, I remember the toys, I remember finally getting to see it on VHS and loving it. I also remember the arcade game that no one played when I would go to putt-putt (miniature golf that had an arcade, it was the bomb-dot-com back in the 90s. super saturday!). This is probably the best of the "let's capitalize on a franchise but get everything completely wrong" line of video game adaptations. It's so ridiculous and ham it's a joy to watch. And, obviously, Raul Julia absolutely owns this movie, chews up the stage every second he's on screen.

I liked it as a kid and as time has gone on it to me has stayed great. This and the first MK movie are just awesome. Also lets take a min to appreciate that they didnt make Kylie take her pants off to wear the game costume. It was the 90s and its just shocking that they held back. This movie was smarter than I think it gets credit for.

For being such a terrible movie, M. Bison has one of my favorite lines ever in a movie oddly enough.

Raul Julia, RIP, was the absolute best part of the movie. Just the fact that as sick as he was and did that for his kid was amazing.

I love SF the movie. I remember when it came out, I remember the toys, I remember finally getting to see it on VHS and loving it. I also remember the arcade game that no one played when I would go to putt-putt (miniature golf that had an arcade, it was the bomb-dot-com back in the 90s. super saturday!). I wish I could be 9 again....

This is probably the best of the "let's capitalize on a franchise but get everything completely wrong" line of video game adaptations. It's so ridiculous and ham it's a joy to watch. And, obviously, Raul Julia absolutely owns this movie, chews up the stage every second he's on screen.

I saw it recently. I can´t hate it. Had i watched this film when i was a kid, right now it would have a nostalgic sentiment. It feels like the best power rangers film never made.

as someone who grew up with this movie the cheese is just right if you watch it don't take it seriously and you'll have a great time especially all the scenes with Raul Julia that man is a legend and this performance it one of his best

The film makers had a script. Capcom began to mandate more and more characters appear in the movie. So the movie went through several rewrites to inject in all the characters Capcom mandated.
