I think it also fits pretty well the human war mentality in Warhammer. Theres a few strong emotions that leads them forward in the face of obvious defeat. This show does justice to Necrons, especially Deathmarks, this one took down a Marine and a Sister alongside multiple Guardsmen and still manages to leave after being ambushed, what a chad

I'm a big Salamanders fan and the Sisters are my favourite 40k faction, so obviously this is fantastic to watch. The loss of Danica pains me tho, especially since she got hit in such treacherous, perfidious way. But there is some comfort to think she passed away protecting His domain. She earned her place by His side. May your light be eternal, Sister.
The deathmark was heavily damaged earlier this episode. It was so damaged that it needed to use its limited energy to rebuild itself. The extensive damage is why the deathmark had trouble teleporting, and why it walked up to the sister.
"I hear an angel..." Instant goosebumps as soon as Sa'kan charges the Deathmark after that. It's just so overwhelming seeing how fast and reactive these hulking tanks of men are.
Damn I adore the deathmark in this, so cool! Part of me wants them to win because necron bias, part of me wants the salamander to win because wooo Sa'kan!
Its nice that, despite their many failings, GW managed to get someone to make a good animation that managed to properly depict space marines not through the overused and overzealous lens of the ultramarines, but through the compassionate eyes of a salamander.
It’s also refreshing for them to explore a xenos race’s lore a little more in one of their animations, as opposed to them just depicting a basic caricature of their faction (ie instead of just showing a horde of Necron warriors with an ominous lord at the back like they’ve done a thousand times before).

I like it. It visually shows that a Salamander's skin color has nothing to do with ethnicity but is a byproduct of Vulkan's geneseed. It would be weird if all Salamanders had afro features, considering they take in people of all ethnicities.

I love the new Necrons. They have so much more personality with their castes, honor codes, noble hierarchy and the like. He considered terminating the civilians, but there is no gain in doing so.
Remember the ridiculous story of the two Astra Militarum scouts who each got a fiefdom over a planet for discovering the STC for a _knife_? Not so ridiculous anymore.
@@047RLthere's this bit of 40k lore where 2 random guardsmen find a single STC (standard template construct) that codifies how to build better knives. Doesn't do anything *fancy* but contains that piece of information - that's it. The Adeptus Mechanicus (basically the Imperium's R&D department) reward the find by gifting them a planet each to rule as they please - just to show how much they value STCs. That particular knife is *likely* the weapon Sa'kan (and Space Marines in general, along with specialist Imperial Guard formations and what-not) have as standard issue equipment for close combat

he was faster with the blade, the only reason he got a jab in is bc of his speed, a big chainsword wouldve slowed him down, and the sound would alert the deathmark too
whats strange is that MArine just hit once and thats all when with a knife fight you need to push with your whole body and stab stab stab as many times as you can.

I'm loving this series so far. We barely see the portrayal of the different kinds of weaponry in the W40K, there's some nasty things like Tyranid weaponry and somewhat hygienic like Necron weaponry. The former reduces your entire being into fleshy mass for the absorbtion of biomass pools and the latter separates your atoms or outright deletes them like the deathmark synaptic disintegrator. Too bad I need a VPN to watch it 😉
I vaguely recall Salamanders are super pernickity about using other Marine's wargear. I seem to remember a section of a book a read years ago in which some Salamanders come to blows with some Marines Malevolent because the MM doctrine is to strip their dead brothers of Usable Gear and the Salamanders insulted them for doing it. (They might have also been trying to strip a dead Salamander for his gear to, don't remember, but even though the Marines Malevolent are dickheads who deserve to get insulted, I do remember siding with them in that moment, since it's all well and good for the salamnders to talk about not salvaging gear when their chapter is made up of craftsmen who always travel with raw materials, so they can repair or remake it in a heartbeat. the MMs had no such luxury.)

@@FutaCatto2considering I haven’t seen the actual episode, I wasn’t sure what happened to the Deathmark, but it too shocked me to see her get shot as well. At least she managed to side with Sa’Kan’s vision of hope for the civilians right before the end.

I think it was waiting on its teleportation field to kick in, but could be the hunter's hubris that led to such a strike to land.
I believe it was the hesitation that got to Deathmark. He could’ve just get into the portal, why turn around?

@@FaezineIn an earlier scene (that's not on youtube) you can see his teleportation failing due to battle damage. He wasn't expecting to be able to teleport to begin with and his mistake was walking out into the open thinking Sakan was dead.
This series talked me into buying a box of Necron Immortals despite me being a Tyranid player. That Death Mark looks so badass.

I like it. It visually shows that a Salamander's skin color has nothing to do with ethnicity but is a byproduct of Vulkan's geneseed. It would be weird if all Salamanders had afro features, considering they take in people of all ethnicities.

Good God Emperor I keep forgetting that the world of WH 40k is not a happy one, Imagine going through your character development then suddenly you're gunned down shit was brutal.
But I love the realism in this one. Being a hero doesn´t mean you can´t die at any second like every ordinary soldier, just because you hold a heroic speech or comfort civilians.
@@unnamed1613 Well, it is the kind "the story was never about you in the first place..." type of scenario. Rare because it's hard to pull off well but it can be enjoyable if done right. I think the last time I saw it happen was with the newest Blade Runner.
Litrally game of trones We spent 2-3 chapters writing bout that prince with a spear and then in next chapter he is brutally killed by The Mountain etc etc.

I love the new Necrons. They have so much more personality with their castes, honor codes, noble hierarchy and the like. He considered terminating the civilians, but there is no gain in doing so.

@@047RLthere's this bit of 40k lore where 2 random guardsmen find a single STC (standard template construct) that codifies how to build better knives. Doesn't do anything *fancy* but contains that piece of information - that's it.
The Adeptus Mechanicus (basically the Imperium's R&D department) reward the find by gifting them a planet each to rule as they please - just to show how much they value STCs.
That particular knife is *likely* the weapon Sa'kan (and Space Marines in general, along with specialist Imperial Guard formations and what-not) have as standard issue equipment for close combat
@@j.bat.8235 I see any kill done by a Space Marine with a knife as a tribute to that story. But killing a Necron, who is built with some of the toughest material ever produced in the galaxy, is on a new level.

I love how they made the Salamander look like a totally unique, new, futuristic "race". His facial features on top of the grey skin look so cool

Damn he shoulda kept that Saw revving and slice it in two... but then again its Necrodermis so its probably rough to cut through, as evident with the Destroyer before
he was faster with the blade, the only reason he got a jab in is bc of his speed, a big chainsword wouldve slowed him down, and the sound would alert the deathmark too
He kept that chainblade inside the destroyer to stop it from regenerating.
He used his combat knife, not the chain sword

The Deathmark got to react second with his lower initiative. But his strength, toughness and armor are formidable in melee.
whats strange is that MArine just hit once and thats all when with a knife fight you need to push with your whole body and stab stab stab as many times as you can.

Deathmarks attack when the target is vulnerable.
They will never shoot if the target is aware.
all she knows is that it's a Xenos, I doubt she even knows what kind of Xenos outside of it being Necron.

I'm loving this series so far.
We barely see the portrayal of the different kinds of weaponry in the W40K, there's some nasty things like Tyranid weaponry and somewhat hygienic like Necron weaponry.
The former reduces your entire being into fleshy mass for the absorbtion of biomass pools and the latter separates your atoms or outright deletes them like the deathmark synaptic disintegrator.
Too bad I need a VPN to watch it 😉

I vaguely recall Salamanders are super pernickity about using other Marine's wargear. I seem to remember a section of a book a read years ago in which some Salamanders come to blows with some Marines Malevolent because the MM doctrine is to strip their dead brothers of Usable Gear and the Salamanders insulted them for doing it.
(They might have also been trying to strip a dead Salamander for his gear to, don't remember, but even though the Marines Malevolent are dickheads who deserve to get insulted, I do remember siding with them in that moment, since it's all well and good for the salamnders to talk about not salvaging gear when their chapter is made up of craftsmen who always travel with raw materials, so they can repair or remake it in a heartbeat. the MMs had no such luxury.)

Nocturne is so cool. Other Space Marine home planets get all the attention. Like, Baal is such an irradiated wasteland, or Macragge is a meritocratic utopia. Hell, Caliban gets more attention and it’s a debris field.

He was heavily damaged earlier and forced to regenerate but it was done imperfectly. His teleporter started malfunctioning and became unreliable as a result.

Its the sign of the Imperial Aquila, the double headed eagle. It can be used as a sign for greeting, saying goodbye, and ultimately respect to another person.
