    The Genesis SP-E-335 Gas Grill is a special edition model that can't be found at just any retailer. It's an exclusive model available to specialty retailers like Just Grillin Outdoor Living. This grill comes with 9mm thick stainless steel grates and a lid-handle light for illuminated cooking at night. We look at all this and more in this overview video.
    See why we feel the Weber Genesis SP-E-335 Gas Grill is a nice grill. We perform performance tests including testing the burners heat output as well as throwing common food to see how the grill handles it. This is a very in-depth look at the totally redesigned Weber Genesis Sp-E-335 Gas Grill.

    Just had my new SP-E 335 delivered. Wasn't sure how the searing worked and correct position of the searing grate. Looked on line and found my way here. The most thorough review you will find. Even Weber doesn't provide a useful video as this. Kudos and thanks!!

    I’m going to be getting this grill shortly, could you do a How To video on the assembly of this model? There’s very few videos on TH-cam showing how to assemble these Weber grills

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you. I appreciate you asking. I do try and accommodate requests but I don’t see myself having the opportunity to knock a video like that out anytime soon where it would help you in the time frame you need it to.
      The directions should encourage you to download the BILT app. The app uses really good illustrations and audio to walk you through each step of assembly. I’d definitely check that out. The only thing our assembly guy on staff said took a second to figure out was the batteries for the handle light. They just have to be positioned a certain way to slide in and out easily. Everything else he said was pretty straight forward.

    I have just bought this Barbie in Australia, built tough, cooks great, tried to buy the rotisserie for it, as yet not available in Australia as it needs one that fixes to the right side of the Barbie, only left side ones currently available. Come on Weber ship 'em over here, it's summer here. Cheers

      @@haveagreatday1681 I bought this model as it seemed the best choice at the time, had it about 16 months now, love it, but it's not perfect, would prefer the gas bottle fitted outside, as they are heavy when full, making it tricky for me. Still no sign of a rotisserie that fits on the righ side and apparently not in the forseeable future either, so bought a generic one that fits perfectly, works great and about one third of the price of Weber left sided version. Why they changed sides is beyond me, as having the side burner on the right would have been fine. My wife uses the side burner mainly for stir fries, no complaints from me there. I actually have 3 Webers a baby Q, a Q and the Genesis. the baby is awesome if you just want to cook a few sausges or steak for the two of us, as it's so economical to use, the Q i tend to do roast vegies on and the Genesis when the mob turn up for a free lunch. Cheers and good luck.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind words. Weber registers all their products with the BILT app so you can have audio and video diagram step-by-step directions when assembling. It'll take you an hour to hour and a half to put it together. You should be able to manage just fine regardless of handiness.
      You can go to Weber's website and search their dealer locator for stores near you. You're looking for Full Service Specialty Stores. If you're in the Tampa/St. Petersburg/Sarasota area, then we're your source. But I know not everyone watching is in our area. Thanks again.

      So random you comment this and then a few days later (aka yesterday) I had to fill in and assemble this exact grill. It took me 2.5 hours to get it knocked out (opening box, laying out parts, assembly and clean up).
      I used the printed directions. Was somewhat easy to follow but could see a few areas where someone would goof something possibly. Mainly with the wiring, the side burner attachment and the floor of the cart. Other than that it was straight forward. Just takes time.

    • @justgrillin

    We just bought the Weber Genesis SX-325 S LP and we are waiting for it to be delivered. We didn't notice the "LP" on the model number until a day or so after we ordered it. Does the LP mean that the grill will hook to a grill nozzle hooked to our house gas supply or can we buy a bottle of LP cas like we usually do for grills (Or does it mean both?)

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      LP stands for Liquid Propane. It sounds like you should be good based off your last remark of purchasing gas tanks. That's what the majority of people do with these grills. Purchase a 20 lbs LP tank and exchange it for another full tank when it runs out.
      If you have a buried liquid propane tank or larger tank on the side of your house with a gas line, you could certainly connect to that too. That is if it's for sure LP gas.
      However, natural gas is not interchangeable and wouldn't work with an LP grill. We talk with a lot of homeowners that aren't sure what type of gas their home has other than it has a gas line of some sort. It's a common question we get but good question. Hope that helps!

      The SP-E-325 is in stock in blue. Waiting on the Black color to come back in stock. It’s on display so definitely worth coming to see in person.
      The 325 is great if you don’t care for the side burner or Crafted System. The only other item you don’t get is the extra side storage cabinet under the left shelf. The performance will be the same otherwise. And you still get the 9mm stainless grates and integrated handle light which is great.

    I'm still deciding on this or the napoleon prestige 500. I like the pull out grease try and lights on the webber, but the napoleon has a dedicate sear zone and rotisserie.. I honestly would give up any options if one really did cook better then the other..

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We're approached multiple times a year to offer Napoleon and we choose not to. We are not fans of the flame thrower ignition system. Weber support is solid and we generally have low warranty claims/issues with their grills. They create a pretty consistent gas grill year after year.
      Napoleon has done some great things to make their grills look really attractive to consumers. We just like the durability and stability we've had from Weber over the years.
      I cook with this grill at least twice a week since they released it. I've never really thought to myself "man I wish it did this or had that."
      I know these comments don't necessarily distinguish between the features you pointed out. But just sharing some of our thoughts overall.

    Do you think there’d be any way to “make” a sear station out of the side burner? Some kind of add on?

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  ปีที่แล้ว

      A work around could be using a cast iron skillet on top of the side burner using the highest heat to sear off inside the pan.
      No add-ons that I'm aware of that would accomplish this.
      Could you rig something? I'm sure it's possible. Would it be safe, worth the hassle and something I'd recommend? No. Not to mention you'd void the warranty of the grill which is one of the great selling points of a Weber.
      I think the grill has pretty adequate heating capabilities to get a decent sear in the main cooking area. Everyone's cooking habits are different so I get why that's an attractive feature to have.
      I wish I could post pictures in comments. I just cooked a peppercorn sirloin steak dinner with green beans in under 20 minutes using the side burner only over the weekend.
      Appreciate the question.

    • @justgrillin

      Really depends. I like the Genesis SX-335 option. It’s a stainless hood/doors with the 7mm stainless steel grates.
      I like the integrated light handle on the special editions a lot too which you don’t get with all of the Smart Grills. The big question to answer is how much you care for the Weber Connect tech on board the grill?

    I’m tempted to buy this model and a set of cast iron grates since everyone says I should. What’s your thoughts? Thanks

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never really heard someone say grates add flavor to the food. The 9mm grates are really heavy duty. They clean up nicely. With the proper care, you’ll have this grill 10+ years. The stainless grates are built to last longer than the cast iron grates. The clients we see replacing their grates almost always exclusively have the cast iron grates.
      Get this model and buy the Crafted dual-sided sear grate if you really want to have a cast iron grate to use. That grate is much better quality than the PECI regular cooking grates.

      The only change for 2023 was they added an E-325 model that comes with the Crafted Frame Kit and Sear Grate.
      The SP-E-335 is very much still available. Weber does not list the special editions for sale on their website. Big box stores do not have access to those models either.

      It does not. The only models that have the lighted control knobs are the EPX-335 and the SPX-435. Both are premium smart grills.

      @@justgrillin thank you! Great content. I appreciate your explanation between the models. Does the EPX -335 and or Spx-435 have a integrated led overhead lighting system in the handle and 9mm grates as well ? I feel I can’t get everything I want in a model that is offered.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@palmettolowlife1996 no. Unfortunately Weber is really making you choose between features more than they usually do in their lineups from previous years. If you want the 9 MM grates, it’s just the two special edition models that come with them: SP-E-325s or the SP-E-335.
      Are you wanting the Weber Connect tech with the grill? If you don’t care one way or other, the model in this video makes most sense. It’s my recommendation in the entire lineup based on features and price point. Save the extra money that you’d use on a lighted knob model and get a Crafted accessory. That flat top looks sweet. I can’t wait until it comes in.

      @@justgrillin - Hi Sam. Do you know if the 9mm grates would fit the EPX-335 if they were purchased as replacement parts or is the grill box not able to accommodate the larger size?

      You probably purchased the E-335 which is the regular model. It’s the same grill minus the lights and stainless steel cooking grates.

    It looks like the double fire cabinets aren’t both leveled

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. That can happen if the surface the grill is on isn’t level. Typically most decks aren’t and have slight grades for water to run off. High end luxury grills typically add adjustable hinges to correct this. The hinges on this grill aren’t adjustable.

    Actualy you have the hooks installed incorrectly (where you hold the 2” x 16” grate). It is actaully for you to hold the larger grate from inside when you use the Weber Crafted Kitchen Stuff. The hooks should be on the OUTSIDE of grill.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are installed correctly. You appear to have it backwards. Just went to Weber's site and pulled the assembly guide. Step #39 shows this piece inserted. If you look closely at the square divider piece between the hooks it goes on the inside of the cabinet and that's how it is on the grill in this video.
      Does it truly matter? I'm not sure and haven't tested it out. Everything appears correct by what I've seen from the assembly guide and reviewing further illustrations in the owners guide too.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jeff Dickerson It's just poor illustrations. Looking at page #17 closely, the hooks on the outside are thicker than the illustration of the hooks on the inside which is consistent with the physical piece. It's a double-sided piece so that's just what the outside hook looks like in actuality (or at the least the ones that came with our grill). You might not consider it a hook but I think they're just using the term for simplistic reasons.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jeff Dickerson It does not. If you look closely in the video, you can pause it and see that it slightly has a tilted angle towards the back. I don't think it hurts anything cooking wise though? Not sure if yours is much more noticeable than on our grill? Haven't given it much of a thought until now.
      My assumption is that it's probably a mechanical thing to help support the weight of food. I put the 10 lbs of frozen ribs on the front piece to see if it dropped down. If you think about it, they probably have to factor in some give and if the grate starts out flat and then gives, food could be falling forward/off. It's pretty far out there (which I like from a gained space perspective) but the further your get from the main support you have to engineer it in a way to support more weight that far out and perform as advertised. That's just my assumption thinking about it. I don't think it's a manufacturer defect if that's what you're asking.

      @Jeff Dickerson Have to look somewhat closely but nothing major from what I've seen.
      Sorry to hear that. Not sure about your particular case other than what you've now told me. Concealed damage happens from time to time. You'd be surprised sometimes that the damage just comes from something stacked on top that's too heavy or the item just rolls over during its transit. And you'd never know by looking at the packaging. I know these grills are boxed pretty much wall-to-wall.
      I'm a big supporter of buying local and let the local shops like us handle the initial receiving. A local shop usually is getting a dedicated truck coming in so it's less hands touching the appliances versus LTL items that touch a lot of hands increasing the damage risk. Items arriving damaged is up across the board with most vendors. A lot of people are not used to receiving freight which makes it tricky when something comes in and the right to inspect it before accepting it.
      Weber's customer support is always consistent which I like. They are typically responsive and are good at taking care of their customers. Sounds like they got you squared away pretty good.

    WEBER HAS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT. Hopefully you don’t ever need to actually call them. I seem to always have the same issue with these Weber NG grills. Never gets hot enough, for which they are not capable of troubleshooting via their support staff.
    DO NOT BUY IF YOU’RE A STEAKER

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What’s the hottest your grill gets? Sometimes it can be your line/regulator needs an adjustment for the right airflow so the right amount of gas goes to the grill. We’ve also found that sometimes these lines share too many appliances which constricts/limits gas to each appliance.
      Not saying that’s your case but just something we typically encounter if there is an issue.
      Weber’s customer support is much better than most manufacturers. You feel otherwise but they do pick up the phone and try to help. Most manufacturers nowadays make you go through retailers which slows down help.
      You shouldn’t have trouble getting to the temps shown in the video. Sometimes you might need to give the grill a longer heat up time. Also, you can adjust when you put the steak on to get a better sear. For example, if you reverse sear and normally pull the steak internally at 115-120 for medium rare, maybe pull it at 105-110 and leave it on longer til it gets to the internal temp you like to pull the steak off at. Just another thought. Hope this helps.
      Thanks for sharing.

      Kind of but not as its intended. You can’t use the frame kit so you’d have to sit the accessories on your cooking grates for support.
