Putting the THUNDER in Thunderbird... 😎
My first little league baseball coach had a black T-bird like this beauty.
He'd take as many of the team that could fit to get burgers after we won.Skeeter.😊
Great collection! They are All my favorites, the Pontiacs and the T-Bird brought back memories of the Good Ole Days..
Certainly put the Thunder in that Bird !
Now that's a Sleeper ,nice Thunderbird
A friend of mine and I built a 1960 Chevy Belair 2 door, pea soup green. We put a 425 (or more) HP dual quad 409 in it. That was a sleeper!
The 427 2-4 BBL SOHC engine is a factory HP MONSTER!
The only engine I would put in this car would be a prepped 351 Cleveland, Jerico 4speed trans, 3:23:1 9" rear & a Hotchkis suspension.
Very nice cars. Very nice collection. However that Thunderbird that is very old school sleeper. I mean it's cruising around exhaust going through the full exhaust system. Nice kind of quiet compliant cruise down the road. You pull up to a red light and there's some jack wagon with his Coyote. Engined mustang and he's sitting there revving it up a little bit and you just look over it. Glance over at him and right before the light shortly before the light turns green you open up the electric cutouts and that lets him know that that's unbeard is way more than what it looks and he's got definitely got a race on his hands
So, it's a 59 T-bird that was originally an FE motored car , probably a 332 but maybe a 352 motor. Both the 332 and the latter 427 are FE blocks and share the same mountings so any mid block would bolt right in that car. It was definitely not original to the car as they are 5 years apart. My step dad had a 58 with the 332 in it, super cool cars.
I new a fella had two ford's with the cammers in them. Jim Dove he made the engines. One was a 56 T Bird the other 64 fairlane.
Also a spad what I think is a 6 2 Pontiac. It's definitely a Pontiac but I'm thinking it's a '62 Catalina or Grand Prix. Saw that up there on the rack over there near the corner of the shop. Again very very cool. Those cars are just very long on style. They have so much style. They're just dripping with style but they've got a 421 or even a 389. They're just drunk with torque. What a wonderful combination
Stacey David placed a Ford 347 stroker in a first generation Mazda Miata. That car is a road course racing Corvette eater.
The engine is worth much more than the car
If you can afford a Holman Moody cammer. Pretty sure you can find a few$$ for better brakes
Yep, go like hell and stop like nil. Bad combo, but at least they're watching for that when driving it.
Listen to the solid lifters!
No lifters. The valve train is is all under the valve cover hence "overhead cam" It does have a massive timing chain going up to the heads.
@@loach392 shimmed buckets?
@@SimiPair Early engines had shims, later had adjustable rocker arms.
Where are you at in Elkhart lake WI You guys are having to much fun up there
lol in the late 60s? somebody put a cammer in a 57 tbird- it was called the Boomin bird. I think it made hot rod mag?
Wouldn't it have been nice to get one of these back in the day?
it be be nice to get in one today!!
Gonna take both feet to stop that beast. Nice job..! Personally I'd have dropped the SOHC in to the Meeotter. :)
Sacko motor. Good Lord..lol
What a novel idea, installing a Ford motor in a Ford product.
Is it a 392 ???????
Thunderbird OE engine was a 352. This SOHC engine is a 427.
The OE Thunderbird engine was a 352. The SOHC engine is a 427. Both are considered FE engines which is why it dropped right in.
Fantastic, but ask your friend to stand back more, because I had fan come apart on me about 40 years ago,be safe
Looks and sounds mean an nasty
