J.S.Bach - Suite n.1 BWV1007 (for cello solo) on double bass

First of the six suites for cello solo, this master work and well know piece for cello solo, is here interpreted on double bass by Giancarlo Pavan.
The present performace was recorded in a very special places at the foot of Dolomites group of Pale di S.Martino: the ancient church of S.Vittore (sec.XI) in Tonadico.

Giancarlo Pavan plays an bohemian double bass (1800-1850) and use a beatiful late baroque bow made by A.Lanaro in Padova, Italia.

BRAVO MAESTRO, Il colore barocco si sente molto bene senza essere una noiosa versione musicologica. Il timbro del tuo basso è molto dolce, ma penso che con alcuni corde che imitano il budello possa avvicinarsi ancora di più agli strumenti dell'epoca ,qualcosa di più nasale e "carnoso".....
