i love the lack of friendship decay in coral island, and i would be super disappointed if they add it in for any reason... it's nice to not be punished for my adhd hyperfixation on some other aspect of the game and forgetting to go into town for weeks lmao

Same here 😅 either 2 presents for everyone every week or no contact for a week, month or more😅
it would be cool if they made it something you can toggle on and off
there's also 31 romancable characters in addition to the 50 or so non romance options, in addition to the map being over twice the size of stardew so it would also be super unfair to expect the player to go talk to everyone every day.
It works in stardew because the cast is only about 30 total with a small map.
This comment just lifted a HUGE weight off my shoulders. I'm so used to friendship decay in these types of games, it becomes more of a list to check off instead of just organic interaction.
reverse confessions/proposals and rival romances would be a huge plus! especially with such a large cast, But I understand they are focusing on other things to work on.
Rivalries and reverse confessions would both be so interesting! They’d really help to elevate this game above others in the same genre.

I'm trying to romance Noah and Mark, but to be honest, Noah and Alice are so for each other that I would love play cupid! Or Leah and Theo, this is after she said she finds him hot and just after went full tsundere and that was enought to wake up my cupid mode! I would love that NPCs we don't date get married to other NPCs, specially if we have children, it would be sad if my children are the only children their age and I would be mad if the current children don't age!
More than romance them I want so much play cupid!
yesss i need rival marriages to come back to the farming sim genre 😢 i hate that story of seasons have been removing it from their remakes. that was the thing that rlly made romancing interesting

Definitely gonna marry Raphael in my first game, but i DEFINITELY need a second in order to marry Semeru, it was love at first sight honestly.
Oh yeah Rafael is a sweetheart! He was actually the most popular male love interest waaay back on the Kickstarter days(2nd place was Kenny and then Scott).
I think for the girl was Eva, but Suki immediately took her place when she was made romanceable due to fan demands lol.

Yes!!! Especially since it'd be interesting to try to romance someone who's technically on Pufferfish's side. She might be fully committed or just really needs the job and stays in it for that, but being with the player character-who is actively trying to save the island through nature, gives her insight and helps her find a way out of the job. That'd be such a delicious story!!!

I'm caught between four characters to vote for. Mark, Kenny, and the blacksmith brothers. Each of them just seem adorable in their own way.
Side-note , romance is optional but if you're after the 100 % there is two achievements related to romance . It's a date which require you to date a NPC and Full house that require you to have 2 children so if you are a trophy hunter keep that in mind :)

I'm glad your relationship with your lover will be dynamic as you progress with them. My personal favorites at the moment are Charles-love my town doctors, Mark-love my gruff, but sweet deep down guys, and Rafael really grew on me as I watched your playthroughs. Quiet guys need some love too!
I personally would like it that if you do have romance with someone and that person had a friend/relative, the friend/relative would comment or act differently around you.
Sometimes I've noticed in games like this, you can be happily married to an npc, but the family barely acknowledges your relationship. They may even ask you if you've met your spouse in some cases... I'd be nice if those the npcs would acknowledge the relationship, maybe changing as well like teasing when you two are just going out, asking about wedding plans when you are engaged, offering to watch kids if you have them. Just things that families and friends really do. It might be just me, I'd like for relationship to change with those close to them, as well as your lover.
The characters are already super responsive to changes in the game so I'd be pretty shocked if they don't implement the things you suggested. It should be fun to see what they all have to say 😊
i was hoping for this too! i have my sights set on wakuu, i like my passionate nerdy guys so i also like scott... so ive been hanging around wakuu's dad and giving him a bunch of fish in case it positively affects my relationship progress with wakuu. similar to the my time as sandrock dynamic, where if you level up friendships with an NPC who has mutual friends with you, those mutuals will also gain bonus relationship points.
God the amount of love and care going into this game is astounding. I wish I had a PC to play this on...
It's coming to consoles too, like Playstation and Xbox. Switch folks will get their chance sometime next year.
It's a world wide release, PC and all consoles will get the game on the 14th, minus Switch

Honestly, Leah surprised me. I was really set for Mark, but talking to Mark is talking to a brick wall. I'm probably going to wind up marrying her or Raj! Listen, seeing Raj lie in the grass reading a book and enjoying the flowers...?! That snatched me up.
I like the idea that you can romance multiple people because it’s hard to pick one. It leaves time to pick who you want to marry based on their personality/story etc.
I chose Ben from the start and stick by that decision. His vibe matches mine. His healing crystals and my tarot cards will work well together. AND as a bonus I get to be Funbucket's mom when I marry Ben!!💍💒
I love Ben! I just really hate the way he walks which is such a weird thing to hate I know. But he’s one of my highest relationships!

My top 3 romanceables have always been Theo, Pablo, and Wakuu (in that order). I'm part of the disappointed group that Agung isn't dateable because he was tied for second in my heart when info about him was first coming out. Semeru just isn't comparable imo, so I hope that later we might get another male merfolk dateable character (rn the only viable merfolk dateables for me are the ladies).

I really hope the hang out/dating mechanics are similar to the ones on My Time at Portia. Their dating mechanics are so nice, the way we can just ask people out and then we'll have options to where we're taking them and what activities we have lined up to do with them.
When you went through all the date-ables one by one I was imagining some coral island matchmaker character going though a laminated folder trying to arrange the farmer's marriage lmao
Nina will absolutely be my first marriage choice on my main game while Wakuu will be my marriage partner on my secondary file.
I'm hoping they let us date Axel! Like please!
All the dateables were already chosen so I'm afraid you're out of luck. 😅

Unfortunately it would be a tiny tiny tiiiiiiiiiiiiny chance of it happening. Before Geoffrey McCullum, err I mean Axel were added to the game, Early Access folks were like barging for Derek(the construction dude, that literally look like Derek Hale from TW) to be romanceable. Alas, we weren't loud enough.
So sadly, both Derek and Axel are officially Strangers(basically minor npc, unable to be friended or gifted).
For now.
At least for 1.0. There's always a possibility of adding more love interests post 1.0, as Stairway games are pretty open to players input. Like with Suki, she wasn't meant to be romanceable but due to OVERWHELMING players demand, she got promoted to Love Interest.
One can only hope. He makes me giggle like a school girl. Haha
Definitely multiple save files top marriage candidates are Lily, Denali, Princess Miranjani, Rafael and Mark - will have to be besties with Zarah now due to pet choice!

Oooooh that's so good to know that you can give lockets to multiple people to see their romance events before you have to commit! I need to scope out Noah, Surya, and Rafael at the bare minimum, and probably also Raj and Theo, and maybe also Kenny, Semeru, and Wakuu before I can make a choice, lol.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the full release ever since i discovered this channel, i havent touched the game yet. What is the quality of the currently available heart events like? One of my main gripes with SDV was how short and basic its heart events felt, i would love to experience a lot more in depth dialogue and actual dialogue options. What are your (spoiler free) experiences?

I cant wait for 1.0 I'm going to have a brand new computer JUST in time for the release and going to be able to play a hi res coral game for the first time ever. I love my current computer, it helped a lot, but it 15 years old and gamer pc or not, it juts cant keep up anymore lol Really can't wait to be able to play in high settings, especially Coral Island which is such a beautiful game. Plus i haven't touched my save file in months (mostly because my poor current pc can't handle the summer heat + gaming) and I've been craving playing this game, so finding out that 1.0 is here AND having enough savings for a new PC? End of the year gift from me to me lol. Now I'm rewatching your videos to wait until next week and i really, really want to play again 😊

For now I've set my eyes on Kenny, although I'm a bit hesitant because I haven't decided yet what to make of him still living with his parents.
From the ladies I could possibly see myself with Lily or Millie, and from the gentlemen another choice would be Rafael, but at this point I also see a chance for Scott and maybe Mark.
Many dateable characters still live with their parents/relatives besides him, and also keep in mind that the pressure to move out upon reaching adulthood is very culturally western.

Also, they show the birthdays with a little present in the menu screen with all the townspeople.
Actually my first candidate is semeru and when I encounter him in the story line i was like fell in love with him soooo much but.. because it take me so long to complete cleaning ocean so i date with my second candidate theo.. actually we not married but it make me thinking so hard about choosing between both of them 😢😢 but in this file i promise to myself that i will married theo because i come this far and for semeru i’ll open new file for him 😂❤
I discovered if you give them something they really love for they birthday you can get two hearts! This happened with Theo and Valentina when I gave them fish tacos as a birthday's gift. Mark also loved the shiitake mushroom for his birthday's gift!

Hi, I recently learned about coral Island and found your channel, but Im so use to playing on my Nintendo DS that is been a bit difficult getting used to playing on my pc. So far, I love the game, but Im having difficulty with my tools. How do you unequip tools? Two months late but yes, I married Theo after updating my house and upstairs is his room! And on the left and right are two rooms for kids once I update my house! So if you play SDV it's like that :3
