Belize’s currency is pegged to the US dollar. Every time the US turns on the money printing machine, the US dollar and the currencies of all countries that peg to the dollar or use the USD get devalued. THAT is the cause of the inflation. Billions sent to Ukraine by the US causes the price of goods to inflate in Belize, El Salvador, etc.
That's BS. It's all the tourists and expats living there. That always rockets prices sooner or later. The locals got no money for those rental rates. That's happening in Europe too (No $ here).
@@bipl8989 there are other causes too. But also many other countries are printing money just as fast as the US. Most western countries have been printing money like crazy since the start of the whole COVID thing
@@alexdunphy3716 Making too much money in causes inflation. People have money to spend and they spend it no matter what the price is. Everyone just bought airline tickets and went on vacation. Then the complained about high prices, but they paid the high prices. The way to stop inflation is not to spend money. Put it in under the mattress. Prices come down. But if you have too much money and you want something, you buy it, even if prices are high. Complaining and whining about it does nothing. Inflation stops when people don't buy. Nobody wants Florida condos and the prices just dropped 40%. So in any case, what I think you are saying now is that the cause of inflation ... is inflation everywhere. On that, you are right. Everyone has too much money and pays the high prices, which only encourages more inflation.
You are so right I used to live in Belize in the 80 and I learned how to make everything from scratch because they didn't have a bakery, everything came from out of the country, so I used to go to the border to buy groceries once a month to Mexico border, clothing etc and lots of people did that, they even offered me a job in Mexico because I speak Spanish, have not been there since then, but now I bought a house in Mexico 🇲🇽 and I have one in the states also, but Belize is not in my list.
It’s true that some things are more expensive in Belize but I find a lot of things are cheaper than in the US, if you are thinking about living in Belize don’t rent or rent for a short while until you build your own, building is a lot cheaper than in the States and usually don’t come with all the bureaucracy, you may not realize it but inflation has gone crazy in the states also so you can expect the same throughout the world, Belize is not for everyone but if you are the self sustaining type, it’s definitely a good fit for you, especially if you grow your own garden, that will alleviate a lot of the expenses, and if you are not paying rent, makes it even better.
Yes, I agree with you! In fact I'm planning on building in Belize, San Ignacio Cayo where I'm from originally. I think owning your own home and property does sort of ease all the burden of having to rent. Definitely there are many ways to twist it but living in Belize after retirement in the US shouldn't include renting. So plan carefully and make sure you have your own crib before you retire in Belize!
Did you know that my lawyer, the Right Honourable Dean Barrow, Prime Minister of Belize from 2008-2020 and his associate Rodwell Williams were responsible for creating the economic, taxation and tariff systems that Belize currently has. Unless I'm mistaken, they were trying to force the Belizians to bootstrap their economy similar to how the Japanese did it in the 1950s and 60s. At that time the Japanese had put heavy tariffs on imported manufactured goods and little to no tariffs on raw materials. Unfortunately, what worked for the Asians doesn't work for Latin America.
Thank you for this useful report. A man with a vegetable garden is a wealthy man these days. Any idea what are the "greener pastures" - Costa Rica, Mexico, elsewhere? o/
I’m planning on going to Belize to teach people their how to do an online business. After hearing what you said it’s actually probably still a good idea.
We live in Canada and we lead in cost increases in the Western world. When we compare Belize to Canada it is actually not that bad even on Sen Pedro Town.
I was going to return and live in Belize. But I did the numbers and it wasn’t worth it. I rather come home three to four times a year it’s cheaper. Come for 10 to 14 days and leave. You offer great insight. Do your planning and save. E.g. I got my airfare before Xmas for $377 and in March for $407. I skipped Easter Holidays got too crowded. I love Belize but things got too expensive.
I have lived in Belize for 35 years now, inflation rate is a concern for everyone, many have no method of compensation for these costs. Hopefully there are solutions?
Same here in Mexico... rent here in SMA has gone up 30 to 40%... 12 dollars for a medium piece of cheddar ... 12 dollars for a cheap bottle of wine... 10 dollars for a pint of ice cream... cheaper at the local markets.... but everything is 2x more expensive than it was in 2021
Supply & Demand are the leading markers in our global economy. These two indicators form an inverse relationship when plotted on a Cartesian grid. When one goes up, the other one goes down. Attached to Demand are the prices of goods & services. The world's population is increasing at an exponential rate. As the world's population continues to increase, so too, will the price of goods & services increase accordingly. Shit happens. Don't be one to be alarmed by something that has been going on for centuries. Instead, stay ahead of 'the game' and prepare for what is about to happen next.
"People go where they are treated best" -- so eventually they will seek a better life elsewhere ! Greed is a big reason in the US. > S E Asia appears like where people will be going. --- Some Americans and Canadians are finding up to 70% cheaper than the US average cost of living - in various areas of the Philippines - and they also speak English ! Rents are significantly less and food is also. = 86% CHEAPER RENT -&- 53% CHEAPER FOOD have been reported early this year !!! > Location and lifestyle. It appears you 'can' still obtain the budget you require or desire - even with the modest inflation by comparison ? Cambodia is another low cost destination for many. Both countries have expats who report being retired - somewhat comfortably - on $800 -- $1200 / mo. - even in 2024.

@@ErikamGar how often do tourists get robbed there? Had a friend nice to the outskirts of Mexico City 2 years ago and the next day he went for a run and got robbed by 2 men with a screwdriver.
That happens a lot. Real state agents , TH-camers bump up the costs which eventually drives out the locals. When someone goes on TH-cam and says they have a thousand a month budget for rent the $200/ month places go up to $1000. I've been watching it in MX.
So i have been in belize. Belize needs to stop exporting oil and getting it refined elsewhere and bringing back into the country. That would solve half the problem.
Dude that’s the same all over the world lol . Think what it costs to move n reset up vs other places going through inflation also. Not completely logical
I have concluded that chasing low cost locales is a futile pursuit. A place that has low cost of living has only 2 possible future trajectories. It will either degrade to an unacceptably low standard of living or will start escalating up eventually finding an equilibrium and parity with the places you wanted to escape from. I watched that movie played again and again. Playing cost arbitrage is a losing proposition in longer term (and if your expected life span is short, then why even bother?). Why expose yourself as ATM cash cow for local corrupt politicians. I'd rather focus on setting myself up for a lot of passive income, minimum liability and maximum mobility.
The trick is finding those growing spots, purchasing some property while it's still cheap taking advantage of dollar arbitrage. Also living cheaper here in Brazil allows me to save and invest more 💰 then back in the states. People who bought rental properties in Belize say 5-10 years probably not. complaining.
You are totally right. It's all the tourists and expats living there. That always rockets prices sooner or later. The locals got no money for those rental rates.
Inflation is real here in belize just like everywhere else, but the claim of tourism declining is not accurate at all. Tourism is taking off like never before.
I spoke with someone recently who works in BTB. They claim that overnight stays by tourist are down 30% from pre pandemic levels and that's why the government is scrambling to overtake the new port project because cruise lines may pull out as well if a port built on the mainland is not done. Could be just a rumor but all the numbers we looked at and chatter from the GOB and major cruise lines seem to suggest this. Great comment and kept us know what you hear about this. Thanks
Hold on...yes inflation is everywhere todays reports show tourism is up 30% 2024. More than any other Carribean destination. Inflation yes... tourism is up
Gas has always been high because the government taxes it so high. Also, you can not buy seeds in Belize for planting your own garden. Fruit trees are cheap.
There are places where you can buy seeds. Reimer's has seeds, Brodies has seeds, a couple of the guys at the Saturday market in Belize City have seeds. I have about 200 pepper plant seedlings that I started by planting the seeds I found in ripe peppers.
No seeds at Reimer"s in Belize City. There's a guy shows up there every Saturday with flowers and ornamental plants. I'm thinking of joining him. I have sweet bell pepper plants, cantaloupe plants, honey dew melon plants, rambutan and mango seedlings.

The global supply of all $USD has increased by 50% in the last four years. USA has pretty much hit the 'death-debt-spiral' since covid and the deficit spending of US government is now far out-pacing the 'revenue'/taxes collected. After deficit spending, there's only $500B left to pay down the $35T debt of which >$1T is annual compounding interest. So the yearly 'debt payment' isn't even half of the 'growing' interest. It doesn't matter what 'rates' The Fed mandates, Uncle Sam will continue to 'borrow from the future' (debt) because politicians live in the present and never have to pay back the debt, are never held accountable, and have legal immunity to insider trading, subsidized govt programs/zombie programs, and have a financial incentive to protect their money printer that helps them steal 'real things' from the world without having to work for them. The $USD is the King government currency and has been turned into a weapon against the poor of the world. International leaders take on $USD debt through the IMF and do even worse to their own people (in most cases). The US gets cheap resources and slave labor. The 3rd world 'leaders' get rich. The people collect the debt and inflation. Because the majority of people want $USD over their shitty currency, the game continues, giving life to a currency that the few can print practically for free who then have first dibs in buying real things...the nice things, too, driving up costs for everyone else. This is why many people (mostly boomers) have turned real estate into a business, which is now fucking over GenZ, globally. GenZ is the exit liquidity for the boomers, btw. Villa Kings control multiple properties, creating a renter class of people and driving up prices by creating scarcity. This is a global problem. Government currency is broken. When currency isn't scarce, everything else will be. When 'money' is scarce to create, everything else can be in abundance as technology's natural state is deflationary (makes everything more affordable as tech increases production capabilities and frees human time). Government currency isn't money. It's a medium of exchange vehicle that leaks value over time due to debt financing (increasing the supply of currency units so it takes more of them to buy stuff). Government currency is a form of communist theft - hidden from public view. It is a weapon against private property (it forces people to constantly take on risk and borrow against their assets to outpace the money printer, signing over their ownership in the process.) Gold failed as money because rocks don't travel through digital networks, take armies to move/guard, massive forges to verify, and isn't divisible enough to use in daily life as tech makes everything more and more inexpensive. Gold gave birth to Fiat government currency. You can't even flee your country with gold. It gets confiscated at the border. And in a SHTF scenario, bullets will be better currency. Want the solution to inflation? Find the money that's hardest to inflate, that has no central point of failure, is absolutely set in its supply so that it can properly measure financial value (like what money is supposed to do.) The metric system is set in measuring weight (gold weight...cough) and distance. Why is government currency not set in measuring financial value? Well, bitcoin, not crypto (scammy shit), is set in supply - a first for humanity - and can't be killed. Stay on government currency, deal with government currency problems. Bitcoin is here to stay. Governments are getting behind it, and so are the wealthy elite for their own self-survival. Stay on bows and arrows, or adopt gunpowder. Good luck all.
From 2025 - 2030 thirty percent of all baby boomers in the United States of America will have retired. That's somewhere in the realm of 20-30 million people. Paying off all of those Social Security Pensions will bankrupt the US. In 2035 the first Gen Zers will be retiring and that will add another 20 million people to the Social security rolls. That means there will be 40-50 million people who will not be working steady jobs, will be drawing social security and unemployment benefits in the US and will leave a shortfall of 100 million workers (American families aren't having kids these days). The US economy will be so fuckked. Wages and inflation will soar through the roof and the US banking system and the US currency will be worth nothing. The same thing will happen in China and the EU and is already happening in Japan and South Korea.
@rastamon5969 to be honest I'm not sure, from what I'm hearing it's bad everywhere right now. Almost like we are all waiting for the bottom to drop out.
Exactly this
@@alexdunphy3716 So then Mr Genius, why is it happening in countries that do not use $$$

@jaxflRealtor great comment 👍 thanks for Watching the video 😁
Yes, I agree with you! In fact I'm planning on building in Belize, San Ignacio Cayo where I'm from originally. I think owning your own home and property does sort of ease all the burden of having to rent. Definitely there are many ways to twist it but living in Belize after retirement in the US shouldn't include renting. So plan carefully and make sure you have your own crib before you retire in Belize!
@PrinceMichaels great advice.... thanks for watching and commenting 🙂

Thanks

On the contrary. He's spot on and is 100% correct on everything he's mentioned in this video!
Thanks Kamala and Joe. Their policies affect the world.
It is a weapon against private property (it forces people to constantly take on risk and borrow against their assets to outpace the money printer, signing over their ownership in the process.)
Gold failed as money because rocks don't travel through digital networks, take armies to move/guard, massive forges to verify, and isn't divisible enough to use in daily life as tech makes everything more and more inexpensive.
If you had to do it over, which country is looking good right now. Where would you go. Im considering Mexico
