Great video! Short and to the point. I just did a strut on my Caravan today, but unfortunately the nut on the sway bar link was SUPER tough to get out. I tried the vise grip idea, but I couldn't get it tight enough. Eventually got it, though. After I got the SBL off I noticed it has parallel flat spots on the back side where a wrench can go to prevent turning. Live and learn.
would it have been cheaper to get another spring from the junkyard and compress it with a loaner tool, remove the hold down nut and install the new spring on your old strut assembly?
In this video you seemed to have no problem removing and reinstalling sway bar link to strut. When I did mine I had to pry on sway bar to remove and install link. I compared new links and struts to old parts. Perfect match. What did I overlook? Thanks.
Did you have jackstands on both sides or just on side? Doing this job with one jackstand each time/side can put some tension on removing & installing your links. Please note in this video, both sides were off the ground relieving the tension on the links.
@@baron7024 i learned this myself as a mobile-mechanic..practiced on a couple at a pick-a-parts..easy to remove. Actual job, tension problem..next job after, 2 jackstands, job went smoothly. I believe this is for all cars. Have a great day!
I took it back . the guy test drove it and said he dosent understand why the stearing wheel is crooked but the alignment seems fine. Even when I drive the van it seems ok. No pull to the left or right. Hmm
Thanks Ron! As a 5 star shade tree mechanic, I always appreciate a little recon before I dive into a project. You made a great video there.
You bet!

Not sure depends on the situation.
Looks easy, but I bet your experience in working on cars helps make it look easy.
Just a backyard mechanic (: I do it because I want to save money. thanks for watching.

Got one from the junkyard for only $40
I had my front struts replaced on my 06 dodge caravan but now the stearing wheel goes to the left when I'm driving straight.
Sounds like they did not do an alignment on it, take it back and ask.

How do you take it off if the top rod nut snapped off?
MMM... have not had that problem.... Yet
compress the spring
