The open ceiling wouldn't have been as easy to keep clean in a bathroom anyway. If it had been a game room or something, I still think the open ceiling would have looked better.

What beams? Those were dimensional lumber, spaced 16" apart... not typically left exposed like timber beams. It would have looked funny if left exposed

I’d have kept the ceiling open as well. They could’ve sprayed closed-cell foam against the roof sheathing and left it open. I my would’ve looked SO MUCH better IMHO.
