We’re doing a poll on our patreon right now! www.patreon.com/posts/89139270 Vote for whether we watch: - Summertime Rendering - 86 - To Your Eternity Go decide what we watch right now! The poll ends soon!
86 and Summertime Rendering are both really good choices (I don't know about To Your Eternity, I haven't see it). I would probably vote for 86 if it was on a TH-cam community poll.
With Fruits Basket, it's not really about romance. There is some but it's not the main point. This is a story about trauma and the different ways people deal with it. The spark not only lasts, it gets REALLY HUGE. This is an amazing story.
I’d argue there’s not really focus on romance until the third season, and the hints and lead up to it in the second. But first season is definitely more getting to know the cast and befriending them.
First of the many heartfelt moments in the show. They execute it so well with the proper music and visuals. Wow loved the discussion in this one, I agree consistent character writing is one of the strongest points of the show, the characters clicks so well. Wait till more characters shows up, it just gets better
I love how Fruits Basket's "title" becomes clear early on. It's about belonging and with all that's going on in the show it becomes even more clear how important it is.
Fruits Basket characters are so relatable and heroic in a realistic way, so any of them can be a role model depending of what the viewers are trying to achieve in their own lives and their personalities and background... you find yourself rooting for them, admiring them, feeling bad for them, defending them... like you would with real life friends I first read the manga and watched the first anime about 20 years ago but still have the same feeling about it and it only gets better...Natsuki Takaya deserves all the praise
Without any spoilers I'll say Fruits basket starts off with more of that classic romance feel, but later gets much more into a character driven show with very deep themes
This episode was so amazing when i first watched it and i like how Yuki and Kyo were hearing the whole time and showed up to take her back such a well directed episode.
this is one of my favorite episodes in the entire series, it really sets the main theme of the story and the message the autor wanted to send, there is a reason the story is called fruits basket after all.
That whole soul thing is why I find the Mortal Kombat video game series or the anime Vandread so interesting. They were obviously not designed initially to be character focused, but kinda stumbled into it along the way. The storytelling is a bit messy as the creators pivoted into caring about it more, but it's just interesting to see something build out of rule of cool (MK) or a gag ecchi premise (Vandread) into something actually somewhat interesting storywise.
Man i didn't want this show to end, so i can watch it every day. And it is fulfilling. Everything main trio went through matters and reinforces their characters. Was a bit disappointed at first over certain character's endgame. He would hype you up, like he's really cooking something, a dark horse of the show, but then turns out nothing really happens. And it's just his villain behavior that makes you feel this way. And there is at least one place when i felt like drama was forced, crafted too conveniently, double dipping in one drama moment.
It's so funny to me that you think the spark in Naruto went out in Boruto. I love watching the show and I'm catching up after a long pause. Not everything is great but Naruto had so much let down moments... That's wy I stop reading it before the end and why it's my second time stoping One Piece. But yeah, I can agree, their is passion put into Furuba x) This is how the first volume ended and I think it's a nice way to set up the situation for future situation. Her family stuff has already be dealed with so now, she can fully enjoy her stay at the Soma's and help as many as she can, while still dealing with her own trauma. And things can get dark, it's mostly a slow burn, the feeling that something bad is going on in the shadow and can come get bite them anytime if they're not careful. I love how this episode explain why her grandfather was like "you can go live with a friend for a little while if you want" because he knows how his daughter and her kids are. That explains a lot about Tohru's father character as well, but that's a discussion for another time. It's just too bad this part of the family is never developed in the show, or her mother side for that matter. It would have been a nice touch for Tohru to interact more with them, to understand her own parents better instead of that picture she has in her head. Especially since it happens way more on the Soma part of the family. They're barely in the shows and it's a shame. Tohru is more complex that people expect because she know what isolation and loss feels like but she's doing her best to keep that hidden from people. She pretends everything is fine and smile while not allowing herself to be happy, because she doesn't want to appear as cocky for the good things she already has. And that's a powerful message : no matter if other people have problems, yours matters too, no matter how small.
I think you would like Golden Times (if you haven't watched it already), because character never (not I remember of) feel out of character in this show, and the comedy parts doesn't feel out of place too.

“Some shows are just moments between the butterflies scenes “
Fruits basket: *We don’t do that here sir*
Fruits Basket is not really a romance imo, or at least it isn’t it’s main genre. It’s a lot more of a drama
Omg i just found out y'all are doing this show I'm so excited!!

My favorite episode is epiaode 9. Just because of the introduction

You really should watch more shoujo, cause this was a gross simplification
