Cameron's "can't believe you are actually hijacking my video" face is priceless. He just sat there thinking, I won't summon this demons again. You made my day. Cheers
I have rewatched that exchange with your wife a couple of times now. Very funny. And good to know what the right answer is when it comes to Edward vs Jacob in Twilight.
And believe me she's reminded me of the right answer several times since this all went down. It's been quite the dramatic talking point in our house since.
Awesome video! Really makes me wanna get this VST. I was going though your videos and couldn't find what I'm looking for...Did you ever cover your mic and processing to get that sweet voice we're listening to? Would be cool to learn about that. Thanks !
Definitely try it out! Haven't really covered that as there isn't much to talk about, C214 direct into the interface, highpass to remove rumble, cut out a bit of mids for boxyness, a little high shelf for clarity, a gate, and a compressor to catch any random peaks and that's about it. I just kinda naturally sound like I'm trying to sell you a Chevy.
I was so stoked after watching this video that I went on to buy this synth straight away and AAAaaaallllmost accidentally walked into that iLok plague. Bummer because it looks like a lot of fun.
How do you usually produce/mix the sound of Generate/Pendulate (preferably with stock Bitwig plugins or CPU-light freebies)? I understand the appeal of these plugins (I like how most of the presets sound when you start pushing these Subs 1 & 2, and how you can quite drastically change the timbre of a patch by just automating a knob) but I find their general sound a bit dull and lo-fi... And the quick variations in timbre due to Chaos and Wavefolding (which are somewhat the point of the plugin) makes it a bit hard to consistently EQ some extra sparky sparkles in that sound while not destroying everything. (My rule-o-the-thumb is that when you end up stacking 3 EQs and 5 compressors which you tweak for hours only to realize that "hmmm... it actually does sound worse now" you're probably doing it wrong) My interest in those plugins is mostly for rich mono bass/lead sounds (didn't really investigate polyphony in Generate).
Hello! I like your tutorial series, you have very nice explanation skills and attention to details, so its easy to learn something from your channel. But personally I have no problem with bass or drums, the only thing i always struggling with is to make good D'n'B lead sounds, especially modern neurofunk/mainstream DnB aggressive leads, like in most of Neonlight, Tantrum Desire, Telekinesis, etc. tracks. Or for example "neuro" lead pluck sounds like in some of Gydra, Teddy Killers music etc., hope you got the idea. But when i started to search for tutorials on youtube, google etc. there is tons of videos/text material covering bass, drums, mixing but literally nothing about lead sounds, i even asked Neonlight themselves about that during their 24 hours stream, they told me that its a good question and its too much to cover on stream so they will make a tutorial video on youtube about that, but later they forgot about it or just didn't take it seriously. Would be nice if you can cover this theme in some of your next tutorial videos. I mean, not necessarily exact sounds, but rather some techniques of making them. Thanks!
Lion is cool! I need to give it a deeper spin sometime, bought it on sale and really only called it up once or twice to noodle with some presets and make a couple patches but haven't really given it an honest go yet.
Sounds massive! (no pun intended) I already grabbed Pendulate which is probably the free version of this? I haven't given it a shot yet tbh. Too lazy and only using presets from other synths. Thanks for the demo! :) EDIT: I wrote this comment before reaching the end of the video :D
Definitely don't sleep on Pendulate! It's equally fun but doesn't have quite as many features and modes. Great little synth in it's own right though and with some basic added effects can really make some big monsterous sounds!
Hi. Didn't know that synth. Sounds great und has cool features. I love total randomization :) I will have an eye on this. It could have done LFO more. 2 are very few for such a synth. It somehow reminds me of MOK Waverazor, which actually is a weapon. Cheers and thanks for showing such cool stuff.
There is a bit of EQ to remove rumble, a cut in the mids for boxiness with the mic, and a slight high shelf. Other than that, I just sound like I'm trying to sell you a truck all the time.
I love this plugin! Thanks for the demo; it seems very intuitive. I'm going to have to add this to my list. I'm curious what DAW you're using to create the track. Was that Reason?
Pendulate eats my CPU but that is kind of unavoidable because of how it works. It's so cool though, I'll probably use it here and there with a single instance. Generate is totally worth buying and I will if I find out my computer can handle Pendulate well enough with other plugins running too to not give me that annoying CPU noise. If you have a quality tower PC then you should absolutely look into it. Nothing like it at the same level right now.
Not really no, the way this synth works is something that has never been done before in a VST and is a large part of why it sounds the way it does. The oscillators are based on the double pendulum (www.myphysicslab.com/pendulum/double-pendulum-en.html) which is why it sounds so different.
On a serious note. I cant believe I slept on this. They had it on sale on plugin boutique and passed a few weeks ago. Had I seen your video wouldve grabbed it. Venus im glad for your success. I hope you have a lot more coming your way brother. Great review going to go look this up now.
The real question: Team Edward or Team Generate? 🤔

Personally, I think Twilight sucked and Vampires reached their zenith with Underworld and Kate Beckinsale... but your wife is hilarious.
Yup, I have this one
Venus could u send me raspberry pi 400?

Sound and features aside, I will buy anything with a "chaotic generator" that's just unabashedly awesome.
Go buy/steal all FreakShow Industries plugins:)
this guy should voice batman
And play Gordon.
Your wife busting in was just priceless!!
I laughed so hard! I'm showing this to my wife when she is back home in a little bit. Awesome video as usual Cameron.
Sick sound design machine and sick demo track. Well done!
Awesome demo! We love Generate. Really a perfect synth for the Morph.

A great source of information for music composers. Keep it up!
Love how you explain HOW things are. Not just the WHAT, which is important. thanks for what ya do man, see you around!
Wow it looks like we can make beautiful sounds really easily.
You always make me want to get some coffee
Exactly one year later from this video, I bought Generate. Thanks Cameron and Venus Theory.
Newfangled Audio definitely has some very cool plugs.
I've wanted to check them out for a while now. I hear great things.
Cool synth I’m a fan of the West coast sound icon……it’s warmer there , more chilled which as a person from the Uk really appeals . Nice 👏🦄🙏🎩🙏🏿👍
Awwww, the wife thing was so cute.
Dat was cool! Nice demo 👍 love pendulate and really enjoyed what you did with it's bigger brother Generate
Sound Dope !
Hello.. Witch voice processor did u use on your voice... I like, like a broadcast processor.. Thanks.
You have a very nice voice! If you're not doing voice overs, you should be. It sounds almost too perfect to be real!!! 😁👍👍👍

New to your channel. Great stuff. You're voice is incredible.
Randomisers on synths, is too much fun!
When you randomize, can that be saved as a new user preset?
amazing track and genius way of shopwing bitiwig play the song. Great camera angle annimation :)

Only mono for the little brother pendulate?
Correct - however, definitely worth checking out to hear a bit of what Generate is capable of!
The visual effect looks awesome during the track demonstration, how do you do that?
Heyo! I edit using Davinci Resolve, that effect is done in Fusion where I turn it into a 3D environment with a 'camera' moving around
@@VenusTheory dope! Thanks
Thank you for this! =)
This is awesome! Try Unfiltered audio's Lion. I like the diffent reverbs in that synth. Especially the "Deep reverb".

He's using Bitwig. :)
@@SmileyFabian Thanks very much Fabian; I appreciate you letting me know!
This is probably a dumb question, but what DAW is he using in this video? I'd like to check that out (along with the VST....)
No dumb questions here, we're all here to learn. DAW is Bitwig Studio 3 - highly recommend it, super powerful as a DAW and as a sound design platform.
West side fo life!
can it noodle with existing sounds as passthrough?
At the moment no, but who knows what future updates might add!

How many Generate instances in real time during your awesome demo track recording ? Im asking about cpu needs 😜
