Hi, i have the model Acer 1715 and it wont turn OFF by the button, just stays in standby. Runs great and with signal , you get perfect picture and green light but whether signal or not, i cant turn it off?? tried the power button for 1 second ,3,10 and nothing. i pulled it apart and checked continuity from buttons to the cable at the logic board, so it must be fault there. Is the start circuit permanently "on" or something screwed up? No bulging caps ect and nothing obvious. Thanks
I would have to troubleshoot something like that, testing with a multi-meter on continuity to see if the button shows shorted, then work my way along its path.
@@Crazylogix007 haha, its worse! All the continuity i did and i even just shorted the pins on the main board bypassing the little front board buttons and still nothing. If i press the Left and power buttons together, i can now turn it on and off!! Weird! Resistance at the connector on the main board is the same for all the buttons so theres no connecting short ect. I guessing the Chip that they feed into is corrupted as the buttons dont connect and are separate except when they enter the chip. I happy with that now as i can make it work and serviced it with new caps and its already from 2005, so like a bad Bios, its probably bit stuffed yet works every time, so best to leave it till wont turn on. The scallar chip and all signals are making a great picture and i got it for free, so good spare when i need it. Have lots of others i need to repair that are newer, so when something works , best to leave it even if its not quite "specs"
