This song was so influential to me, back in 1977, one hell of a hot summer in more ways than one, whew, lost alot that summer, I will never forget it though, unbelievable time.
Pure talent and grace. You don’t need to take your clothes off all you gotta do is let your vocals and your performance shine, and the audience will always love you.
I'll say it again and again. The 60's and 70"s had the best and purest music. Live singing and musicians playing real instruments. You just can't get any better then this. You've got to love the Hutchinson Sisters. RIP Pamela! 🙏🌻💞
@@waynedexter We were entertained by artists with voices , of course auto tune didn't exist it was created for these non singing artists of today. My father was a saxophonist with a band and you got your money's worth. Auto tune made it possible for the music of today because without it most wouldn't be in the business. So take that!
@@honeylove7678 You made a generalization, and it’s painful. I know hyperbole and exaggerated is the rule of thumb, especially in the TH-cam comment section. Folks say stuff just based how how it makes them feel and not on reality. If you want a list of current artists that don’t use auto tune just holla
You responded to a statement I made to the Emotions at the Wattstax festival whom I've seen in person, auto tune didn't exist, entertainers back in the day had voices there was no fear of going to a concert and really enjoying it. I listen to plenty of artists Will Downing, Sade, Cleo Soul etc. auto tune has made dreams a reality for some of the younger generation.
This is an absolutely magnificent live performance without any lip sync and auto tune didn't exist! The biggest female group of the 70's. Absolutely Magnificent
I would argue that this sounds a little flat at various points and it sounds like she's straining her voice. Some of the notes don't sound as welll-supported as the they did on the studio version. The studio version sounds much smoother
Rise In Power Pamela Hutchinson your angelic voice will live on forever. My condolences to the Hutchinson Family. The Emotions are legendary. The voices of angels.
They all look just alike too!!! You can tell they are sisters!! I am so happy that GOD blessed me to grow up during this era!! I was in High Schoo in 1977!!
Thats the way you do it right there...playing live, with horns, live voices, no lip syncing or modulation. True talent on display back in the 70s, they weren't messing around. Hardly anything nowadays comes close to 70s & 80s music.
WOOOWWW! LOVE THE EMOTIONS!!!! ONE OF THE BADDEST GIRL GROUPS (TOP THREE) EMOTIONS, SUPREMES AND THE MARVELLETS. I FORGOT ABOUT RONNIE SPECTOR.SO MUCH TALENT BACK THEN. NATURAL GOD GIVEN TALENT!! THE MUSICIANS ALSO SUPERB!!!! MUSIC ISN'T THE SAME. YOUNG PEOPLE NEED TO RESEARCH. OLD SCHOOL HAD IT ALL WHEN IT CAME TO 🎶. SINGING, DANCING, PLAYING. PRODUCTION, SONGWRITING JUST TO NAME A FEW!!!!!!
I was 6yrs. old when this song was out and I use to jump around like crazy along with my older sisters whenever this song played on the radio or 8 track... Those were the days of good times, little crime, and good music!
NOW this is what I call LIVE ENTERTAINMENT....FANTASTIC vocals and BEAUTIFUL sisters....GREAT harmony....It doesn't get any better than this!!!....70s BEST MUSIC 💯❤
What a song! What talent! One of the greatest feel good songs of all time. Thats what music in the last 20 years has lost, it doesn't take you to places like this and make you feel this good and just want to get up and dance!
They wereTrue talented professionals. This is 1977 and they sound better than today's singers . I sure hope that male and female singing groups make a comeback. I miss good singing. ..I miss r&b.
I love this song! It is one of the songs from my childhood that really makes me smile. I mean, Kodak smile, LOL! I just feel so happy when I hear it! I know...weird.
I know this is a deadly old comment, but I’m reaching my 20’s and this instrumental is just.. gorgeous. I miss the clavinet, that needs to be a thing again
Love this song and the album was off the chain! Great performance from Chicago Own! No one sounds like Wanda and little Sheila with squeak in her voice was always a fan of both women voices. For the young folks they are all sisters and one sister left to be replaced by another sister.
This song never sounds played out to me. I love family types of gatherings where someone puts this song on and everybody goes in. It definitely reminds me of fun times before the bills came.
Please SOMEBODY bring the midnight special back. I understand it was during dead air time back then, but hell most of air time is dead now. When you made it to the Midnight special as an Artist... You MADE IT... LOVED THAT SHOW.
Best of my love very, very, good without doubt and best of the disc music marked a lot, it is a harmony without equal, a sensational sharp is as if it were heard angels singing sensational ....
Do you really want to see white people dance? I am European-American and am one of the few who CAN dance but many of my friends have not a single rythmic bone in their bodies! If you watch many performances from the 70's note that the crowds are basically just sitting there. The Hippie flower dancing has left the building and the crowd surfing mosh pit disaster had yet to rear it's ugly head.
Jody R Most of the millions upon millions of white Latin-Americans dance. It has nothing to do with race; it's all about environment. A black girl raised by Polish farmers will not dance
Chavezoid Actually, she very well may have been able to dance, even despite being raised by Polish people. There is a correlation between melanin and rhythm. This is why Black artists like Drake, Deborah Cox, and a host of others who were from White surroundings (they’re both from Canada), still tend to have talent and rhythm. This is why almost all of the popular music worldwide, even in Latin American countries, has African roots.
I salute them im happy they have the capabilities too like the whites the culminating point the blacks made it through best athlete actors singers etc thank you ladies i love it
This song was so influential to me, back in 1977, one hell of a hot summer in more ways than one, whew, lost alot that summer, I will never forget it though, unbelievable time.

You are sooooo right 🎉🎉🎉
The Emotions!!! No auto-tune when they performed, singing was backed with a live band. The good ole' days I'll always cherish.

Cleo Sol would’ve been on that list 😝
What a huge hit back in 1977. I think of my teen self with her friends in the 70's, singing and dancing to this song. What a fun time it was.
This is an absolutely magnificent live performance without any lip sync and auto tune didn't exist!
The biggest female group of the 70's.
Absolutely Magnificent
Damnn they slay on the vocals!!!
Same key, hit all the notes both lead singer and backups. Real talent and tremendous song.

Definitely the biggest song of 1977. #1 twice in different quarters of the year, now that's big!

Wow I never seen these ladies live they were good
And they got the steps down and the voice - excellent!
Ah the Clavinet! The sound of the seventies. These ladies had serious voices. Another great Maurice White song.
Outstanding. One of the best 70s disco songs. This is a nice version of it, too.
Voices... naturally, clear, beauties, original... Real, true...
Probably the most vocally talented group during this time
Man the 70s was just so superior... good music any way you turned...who knew we were living in the best decade of music..then..
Oh shit!!! Fukkin Midnight Special!!! Damn I miss these days! Real voices, real instruments!

This song makes me happy too.
Simple elegance and grace, with the moves to match, I bet todays singers could not sing live and hit those notes.

She sings with such an open, happy force. I really like this upload! What a gift .. thanks for it.

The Emotions was my favorite female singing group back in the 70’s and today they are still is
What talent!!!!!! Awesome........thanks for sharing this gem in these days of auto-tune and "produced" music. Thank you Lord I was raised in the '70s!
Midnight Special was all that! And the performers did LIVE performances, which is what made it so special.
love the funk clav in this version...
En ese programa tenían la opción de bailar en vivo!!!!! que lindos recuerdos!
So much good music in the 1970's love the instrumental in the background. Those under 30 cannot appreciate this.
