I listen to plenty of artists Will Downing, Sade, Cleo Soul etc. auto tune has made dreams a reality for some of the younger generation.
Pure talent and grace. You don’t need to take your clothes off all you gotta do is let your vocals and your performance shine, and the audience will always love you.
I would argue that this sounds a little flat at various points and it sounds like she's straining her voice. Some of the notes don't sound as welll-supported as the they did on the studio version. The studio version sounds much smoother
This is an absolutely magnificent live performance without any lip sync and auto tune didn't exist! The biggest female group of the 70's. Absolutely Magnificent
I'll say it again and again. The 60's and 70"s had the best and purest music. Live singing and musicians playing real instruments. You just can't get any better then this. You've got to love the Hutchinson Sisters. RIP Pamela! 🙏🌻💞
Thats the way you do it right there...playing live, with horns, live voices, no lip syncing or modulation. True talent on display back in the 70s, they weren't messing around. Hardly anything nowadays comes close to 70s & 80s music.
They wereTrue talented professionals. This is 1977 and they sound better than today's singers . I sure hope that male and female singing groups make a comeback. I miss good singing. ..I miss r&b.
Rise In Power Pamela Hutchinson your angelic voice will live on forever. My condolences to the Hutchinson Family. The Emotions are legendary. The voices of angels.
WOOOWWW! LOVE THE EMOTIONS!!!! ONE OF THE BADDEST GIRL GROUPS (TOP THREE) EMOTIONS, SUPREMES AND THE MARVELLETS. I FORGOT ABOUT RONNIE SPECTOR.SO MUCH TALENT BACK THEN. NATURAL GOD GIVEN TALENT!! THE MUSICIANS ALSO SUPERB!!!! MUSIC ISN'T THE SAME. YOUNG PEOPLE NEED TO RESEARCH. OLD SCHOOL HAD IT ALL WHEN IT CAME TO 🎶. SINGING, DANCING, PLAYING. PRODUCTION, SONGWRITING JUST TO NAME A FEW!!!!!!
NOW this is what I call LIVE ENTERTAINMENT....FANTASTIC vocals and BEAUTIFUL sisters....GREAT harmony....It doesn't get any better than this!!!....70s BEST MUSIC 💯❤
I love this song! It is one of the songs from my childhood that really makes me smile. I mean, Kodak smile, LOL! I just feel so happy when I hear it! I know...weird.
I was 6yrs. old when this song was out and I use to jump around like crazy along with my older sisters whenever this song played on the radio or 8 track... Those were the days of good times, little crime, and good music!
What a song! What talent! One of the greatest feel good songs of all time. Thats what music in the last 20 years has lost, it doesn't take you to places like this and make you feel this good and just want to get up and dance!
Do you really want to see white people dance? I am European-American and am one of the few who CAN dance but many of my friends have not a single rythmic bone in their bodies! If you watch many performances from the 70's note that the crowds are basically just sitting there. The Hippie flower dancing has left the building and the crowd surfing mosh pit disaster had yet to rear it's ugly head.
Jody R Most of the millions upon millions of white Latin-Americans dance. It has nothing to do with race; it's all about environment. A black girl raised by Polish farmers will not dance
Chavezoid Actually, she very well may have been able to dance, even despite being raised by Polish people. There is a correlation between melanin and rhythm. This is why Black artists like Drake, Deborah Cox, and a host of others who were from White surroundings (they’re both from Canada), still tend to have talent and rhythm. This is why almost all of the popular music worldwide, even in Latin American countries, has African roots.
that's a serious audio attack. I might've stayed quiet if that was the first time seeing this live and didn't know them. Because those harmonies, & clear voices is AWWEEEE INSPIRING. BUT, once the song was over, I would've stood on my feet yelling & applauding. LOVE: THE HUMAN DNA
When will someone in the black entertainment industry honor the Hutchinson Sisters it is long past due. They are featuring girl groups who came on the scene in the 90's but totally forgot about those tight blended harmonies of the Emotions. Those sisters are flawless in their presentation of their art.
Love this song and the album was off the chain! Great performance from Chicago Own! No one sounds like Wanda and little Sheila with squeak in her voice was always a fan of both women voices. For the young folks they are all sisters and one sister left to be replaced by another sister.
My gosh, did they feed the audience alcohol and turkey prior to the Emotions taking the stage? I've seen livelier gatherings in a cemetery… LOVE the Emotions and LOVE this song; easily one of my favorites of all time. As I watched the video I thought, 'Nowadays you'd NEVER see a female group dressed in suits and high-collar shirts like the Emotions' but then I realized something: Nowadays you'd never see a group that can SING like the Emotions, so they gotta make up for their lack of talent in other ways. Too bad, too - I'd listen to a lot more radio i there were a lot more talents akin to the lovely Emotions.
Well that's the thing. To 'fill up' the audience, they go to the local morgue to get a bunch of stiffs. This isn't the first time I have seen that either. Watch some of Donna Summer's early videos and it's the same thing with the audience. As for their outfits...they are horrible. Watch the clip of them on Soul Train and they have some really nice dresses that are MUCH easier on the eyes.
Bunch of stuffy uptight white folks in the audience. Their parents had to live through the Civil Rights movement so they were still bent out of shape about that.
On this day in 1977 {July 23rd} the Emotions' "Best of My Love" regained the #1 spot {for 1 week} on Billboard's R&B chart... It first reached #1 {for 3 weeks} on June 25th, then "Easy" by the Commodores became #1 {for 1 week} and then the girls jumped back into the top spot... They had a similar fate on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; they reached #1 {for 4 weeks} then were replaced by "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" by Andy Gibb for 1 week, then regained #1 for 1 more week...
This song never sounds played out to me. I love family types of gatherings where someone puts this song on and everybody goes in. It definitely reminds me of fun times before the bills came.

You may not know this true fact. The sisters are Chi Town nurtured and as youngsters shared the local talent shows with Yvette Steven's who morphed into the now beloved artist Chaka Khan. Chaka said that sometimes her group would win the loot and other times the Hutchinson Sunbeams would be awarded the loot. I was reading some of these posts and they mentioned Wanda not holding the notes. Well they were touring for I saw them with the Commodores in 1977 when this song was HOT and the album. They wore these same outfits too! Wanda was singing in a higher register unlike her alto she was singing in before. She sounds great here and her newer register grew wider and bigger and she still sounds awesome today. They looked great and too bad Sheila didn't have a solo here, she would've worked it.
The Emotions!!! No auto-tune when they performed, singing was backed with a live band. The good ole' days I'll always cherish.

What a huge hit back in 1977. I think of my teen self with her friends in the 70's, singing and dancing to this song. What a fun time it was.

Jeff Cobb Only one problem...the horns (which imho are the best part of the tune were dubbed in here by synthesizer) Just not the same.
So true.
Probably the most vocally talented group during this time
This song gives me the chills. Thanks EWF and the Emotions. Love and miss y'all.
What real music sounds like, folks! I’ll always cherish this decade! Great memories!
