Most of them in this performance are now no longer with us… Kool is the last man standing! Rest In Peace and Power to all fallen heroes in Kool And The Gang ! ✊🏾🙏❤️🎶🎶
MOST of those brothers in this phenomenal band, has passed on now...they had a GREAT comeback in LATE 1979. with Ladies Night. and went into the 80's dominated the record sales. and the charts.
To me, the *funky, jazzy* Kool & The Gang, right here, will always be *the best* era of the band. I do like a lot of the later, more pop-oriented music with J.T. too, but from '69 to '76 or so, this band made so many great albums, with some of the *best funk and jazz* , to ever be put on records by anyone! I have all of those classic albums, and my favorite is probably '74's "Light of Worlds."
This was amazing. I grew up listening to them, but with James "JT" Taylor as the lead singer. So sad only Robert "Kool" Bell is the only original band member still alive. I'm so happy to see them inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I hope Kool and JT both are there to accept the award 👍🏾💯.
They say if you remember the ‘70’s, then you weren’t really there. I was only 9 when this hit so I remember it vividly. There was an unusually deep freedom of expression in the arts that launched in the ‘60’s but dispersed further from about 1969-79. If you listen to all genres created during that period you’ll be there.
These are real musicians. They read music and know how to play a musical instrument. No pre-recorded drum machine, no synthesized samples. People who actually sing instead of talking.
I know I always say this in response to their vids,,,😂 they were FANTASTIC in concert a few years ago. EVERYONE was dancing along!!! GET DOWN ~ GET IT ON!!! 🎉😻
Yes this is very cliche, but Kool and the Gang is the coolest band ever. They wrote the grooves of my youth and were monster musicians. They still resonate today in the heart of this hillbilly from Virginia.
Our harpsichord....tuba.....Irish fiddle....djembe......piccolo yodler and dog whistle player is Mr. Itza Wonder....as the name implies how incredibly fully loaded in number of band members a group had
Kool always looked like a little boy. His bass was bigger than he was. For about ten years, this band couldn't miss, especially after they added J.T.. Dennis Thomas' daughter was on The Cosby Show and Family Matters. The Bell brothers became Muslim and that was the end of this band.
Incorrect. The Islamic years gave us "Light Of Worlds".. "Spirit Of The Boogie". The Summer Madness era was when they were studying and dropping knowledge. When Ricky West left and Disco arrived..the sound shifted.
@@unique74muzik Ricky was the heart of the group. You dont see any singular photos of him easy except for when he's with the band. But you gotta search deep.
Miles Davis used to actually turn his back to the audience, a good bit, during his concerts in the '60s and '70s. Some people took it as disrespect, but he was just more into getting deep into the groove, musically, than smiling and hamming it up for an audience. Kool & The Gang definitely got more poppy in the '80s, but I like them better here.
@@Auntkekebaby A musician doesn't have to be smiling widely just to have stage presence, but also, imagine having an obnoxious and over enthusiastic and overexcited talk show host making a bunch of bad jokes and wasting your time with meaningless subjects instead of letting you perform. The Jackson 5 dealed with that the most. Michael and his brothers weren't even allowed to say what they felt like saying, instead they had to reply from what their father and their rehearsers told them to say. Basically reading from a script. It wasn't even genuine most of the time.
I was born in 1960 and grew up when this was actually happening. I thought to myself, wow, we’re really evolving as a society and all people of all races have something beautiful to contribute. Then Obama became president and I thought to myself, wow, America really has become the shining city on the hill it professes to be. Then along came Trump and was elected president, and suddenly all my naivety was shattered, and I saw this country for what it really is and has always been, just another hateful, racist, oppressive, authoritarian country that put on a pretty good facade for about 30~40 years.
Funk was always better than Disco. 🥰
Would you be my best friend?

JT, the singer, who joined a few years later is alive and well. He catapulted their fame following a lull.
50 years later, and it is still timeless.
Oh, yeah! That bass line and trumpet 🔥🔥🔥 One of my favorite songs from this band.
back when R&B and Funk was real music
Except it didn't last long after first album , they went pop
How can you possibly not love music?
Real musicians, actually playing their instruments and singing live. Absolutely killing it! 👍🏼
They knew how to cover all the parts and still sing and have a good time!
Right On! Thanks.
They're dancing! Nice.

Friday and everything is Kool & The Gang 😎
This was 20 years before Pulp Fiction! Koolest!

My nephew loved this song, he was only three, he would call me from Ohio to sing this to me.❤🎉🎉
My son just turned 5 and he's obsessed with it as well! The hits are hits for a reason, I guess 🙂
Kool and the Gang " Wild and Peaceful", with this cut on it, was the first album I ever bought. I was in third grade. LOL!
What a great band! Tight!!!
Prime 70s funk from Jersey's own Kool and The Gang!❤✌✊
also known in New Jersey as the Jazziacs. before Kool & the gang.
Cultural history. This should have a million likes by now.
it will my friend, give it a little time. they just posted it.

The 70s seem like a fun time to be alive
Seem?? U must have missed out! Sorry kiddo
@@yancyjenkinssr1824 I did 😢
It was!🙂 I was a few days away from my 15th birthday when this originally aired.
Way more freedom back then for sure!

What a treat to watch this tune performed live. Thank you Thank you!
So glad it wasn't lip synched.
We could use some of this Good Ol' Funk from back in the day! Great dance music! 💃
Happy Friday 🥳 Thank you for sharing! 💖
This reminds me of the time I hit the dance floor every Saturday night at my local disco 😅Happy funky Friday, cheers 🍻💃
@GerardFrenchy59 We did a lot of that back in the day! 💃 Cheers 🥂
Very touching and heartfelt lyrics, so deep!
Soooooo good! Saw them last year and they are still on point😎👍🏻👍🏻
Kool looks like a kid! So young.
he does, doesn't he. 🤣🤣 but what a GREAT musician he was, being so YOUNG.
I've never seen Kool so young. And I never realized how cute he was.
Amazing that Kool is the only band member alive of this founding lineup. RIP to the other members, you will all live on thru your music.
Two for one on the same stage!!🔥 Ricky West era 🙏
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this SONG!!!
24/7 Spyz do a cover of this. Love them, too.
Funky to the max!! 🎉😎🔥💜

Sadly there are not funk bands anymore. Bands that sang and played their own instruments.
They had to back then - no other way!
Robert kool Bell jumped out the window in Mr Cavanaughs algebra class. I was there 1965
Bobby Womack had to get some of that funk (bongos) before he left the stage! 😂🔥
Jam on it 🎉❤❤❤❤
Solid✊
love me some Kool & the Gang my wife bought a greatest hits box set for me I wore it out
I know I always say this in response to their vids,,,😂 they were FANTASTIC in concert a few years ago. EVERYONE was dancing along!!! GET DOWN ~ GET IT ON!!! 🎉😻
Black music is a shadow of what it used to be, For those of us who grew up in the 70s, this stuff put out nowadays isn’t even close
A-Friggin-Men!
Gran temazo de los inolvidables kool & the gang
💯🎶
Agreed and white music isn’t any better. 😢
That would be any form of music under corporations.

Playing at the Westgate Resort Las Vegas this weekend!

Right On Brother 🫵🏾
Hosted by Bobby Womack
They don’t have a leader when performing so you really get to see each guy’s unique talents.
❤ Diversas formações ao longo do tempo , porém com o mesmo entusiasmo

Some bad cats.
Irresistible groove.
Man oh man !
More cowbell! As a fan of bass guitar I didn’t realize Kool is the bassist.
Dig that Guild Stratford X-350~!...
I never knew Kool was barely bigger than his bass.
That brother was short like Kendrick Lamar. He always looked 5 foot 8 to me.
Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
Would never have guessed Kool was the little guy.
Albert "Kool" Bell - yeah, I knew that answer...
¡Great Funk band! I love it🎉
Please, can someone tell when this presentation was?
July, 12th 1974.

Song at 1:50.
It's only a 5 minute video. We'll figure it out.
If you don't know who the guy is introducing them and playing percussion just go back listening to auto tune mumble rap
Idk if I should have seen Kool and the Gang in their prime… they kinda looking like they weren’t really wanting to be there :/

Some musicians are not great stage folks. Some have both, stage presence and chops. It doesn't bother me because the music is great.
