In Australia a mate of mine who is a boilermaker welder by trade built a mower to race. However he geared down a old Honda 750 4 stroke and remounted it on mower with drive in place. It was allowed entry after inspection by officials. The week before the event no one was game to compete against this monster so they cancelled the open class. It would do a very respectable 70 mph. But was inclined to overshoot the turns. Aussie Jeff

@@BustedKnuckleVideo growing up I never had ATVs but I did have a old mower I’d drive up the hill and hold the clutch in and fly down the hill… good times indeed
I built a bone stock JD116 15mph racing mower. There’s no brakes, there’s steering play, & it’s great. Those 200 series tractors at 18:23 are tanks. Insanely heavy machines. I got my 212 stuck down to the hubs in mud one time, & had to wait for my dad to come home at that time cuz I didn’t have a truck… I was 14 then. Since then it’s been diesel swapped & now it’s 3mph faster, & uses significantly less fuel than the ole worn out gasser did. The old gasser block is fine. Just needs to be rebuilt, but I yanked it before it went boom cuz it burned a lot of oil, & smoked like crazy. 22:00 that tractor has a Yanmar diesel in it.
I want to do this so bad... I've got a John Deere, a Sears a Bolens and an old Speedex tractor sitting in my barn that would make an awesome start for something like this. So cool.
WOW! Let's see those $15,000 zero turns do that. The Smoky mountain hillbilly in me loved that race. Now if big sponsorship aren't allowed in and modification rules restricted to a minimal, I can see this idea becoming very popular. Got to keep it on a level where anyone of us ol country boys can come and race. Keep up the good work ya bunch of hicks. Y'all are my kinda people. Oh, and ya might want to do away with picking the number of laps based on someone's age. I can see that getting out of hand quickly.
