I remember watching this at the time. I had no idea who Neil Young was but this song blew my mind. All these years later, I still reckon it's the best live performance ever - as far as one man and his acoustic goes.
Same here. I was only 14 and had no idea who Neil Young was other than he was supposed to appear at the previous years Mandela concert at the same venue but weather conditions meant his domestic flight wasn't able to make his connection with to the cross Atlantic flight to London meaning he missed the gig entirely. Him and Lou Reed were easily the best two turns at the second later concert.
Thanks for uploading this. The two songs he played at this concert (28 years ago!) was the first time I'd ever knowingly heard Neil Young and I was really impressed.
what a great version i have it on VHS and always thought of putting it up on you tube .Neil Youngs live performace that day was stunning. Thanks for getting this out there regards jimmy
One of the best live versions of this great tune i,ve ever seen by Neil Young .Hammersmith 1989 was special but this tops it in my mind as he was not warmed up and just came out rocking .Incredible .Play this really loud for full enjoyment
I saw him at Hammersmith ’89! Small world. We were in the circle, got up for the encores and some staid dudes behind us asking us to sit down, no way man, you don’t understand you should never have come in the first place you’re not a fan…
Neil Young is nowadays sponsored by: water!!!! can you believe? should we sue them (him and water)? someday he would like to have a free sponsorship from air... can you imagine that? a man that play under sponsorship that doe s not value any money? a man that is not interested in earning any much then what his job brings him... how can we can rest on things like this?
Timeless Endless and Forever Young, from South Africa 🇿🇦
This performance blew my mind. Cutting lyrics, awesome percussive guitar playing and a Troubadour of the highest order.

Muito bom Neil yung
thank you for that upload.
Neil Young is more punk with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica than any others with splintered equipment at the conclusion of their set.
Neil Young rocks Jeff Besos' free world now.

Don't Cry No Tears Around Me.
'Free world'?. Neil, can you explain that one? Is that free speech too in the free world?
No. Listen to the lyrics. It’s sarcasm.
@@kellylappin5944 Well then, he's contributing: "hey mister clean, you're dirty now too".
Astonishing!!!
