    I am primarily a film photographer but have become more and more interested in digicams the last few months. I have set myself a challenge to give up film for a whole month and only shoot digicams! In this video I give a little update on the cameras I have been using and some sneak peeks of the photos. More digicam content coming in October!

    G2 previews look fantastic. I've recently been going through old family boxes and found some old film cameras to add to my collection but also digicams. One I'm really enjoying that I found came out in 2009 but is super cool, the fuji fine-is f200exr it's hitting all of my compact needs and it's super small. Kind of making me consider selling off my film compacts tbh.

    I had a G2 way back in the day. It was my first real Mirrorless Digital camera, in fact it was my 1st digital camera. For some reason I traded it off as I moved into the DSLR world but did finally replaced it with a G11. I still have that one so maybe I'll have to break it out again as my walk around camera.

    Hello. Changing the battery to remember the time and settings is very simple; you don’t need to disassemble the camera. remove the battery and on the inner wall of the shaft, on the side of the buttons, you will see a tightly inserted corrugated cover. pull it out and it will slip out - there will be a cr2016 battery inside, they are always sold in stores.

    My oh my I had no idea the Fuji X20 even existed that thing looks amazing! Fuji really is amazing at making their cameras look good. Especially the X series. I have an old X100s-which is similar to the X20 I think, maybe like an older brother or sister of that camera. Also loooove the X-T4, but also only shoot video on it. It's so great for mounting old lenses. Looking forward to the digital adventures Lucy! And hope your 30th is a good one!

    You should definitely check out some of the great crop of fixed focal length, large format sensor digicams out there. Super simple, great lenses + great sensors and super focused (no pun intended) and opinionated as cameras go. Some favorites in this class: Nikon Coolpix A, Ricoh GR, Fuji X100. Would be a fun genre to give a go!

Also have Olympus 5060wz which I bought new. This camera is amazing and I love the pics, also the Macro function. I found my Fuji Finepix Z2 in a drawer and it still works, and is so small. I bought a new Canon M50 MK II and have set it up for macro. But now I carry the G12 everywhere. Great channel.

    Nice channel. I also have a multi battery charger and mine have worked fine. It has not damage any battery. Had it for bout 8 years.
    I am an oldie so I started out shooting on a digicam back in 2003 and I very soon started shooting film! cause I think film looked better.. I just got some digicams, a Nikon CP5000 from the same area as the Canon G2. It is slow and all that but I love it. And some others. Using digicams bring back something I lost along the way in my photography, at least for the moment, and it really make me feel different about my "modern" cameras.

    Never thought old 4megapixel digicams would be sought after again. My first digicam was the G3 - very similar to G2. The photos were just printable in 10x15cm prints - and quite noisy if iso was not at lowerst iso setting. I remember looking recently at photos I took on the G3 on a trip to Rome in 2003 and thinking to myself what a shame it wasnt shot on a 35mm film instead. Any 35mm point&shoot would have produced much nicer looking photos. But that said - I find this digicam “revival” very interesting.Perhaps I will dig up my old G3 and give it another shot just for fun 😀

    Wanted to encourage you to not be afraid to shoot with your X-t4! Idk if you have all of your function buttons mapped out yet, but it makes shooting automatic so you should rarely need to dive into menus while shooting. My x-t3 is one of my most prized possessions and while I don't go out of my way to abuse it I also am not precious with it and it has been in all manner of unfriendly environments. I just occasionally clean the sensor and she's good to go. Biggest downfall is I shoot less film now D:

      @@LucyLumen shoulda clarified, when I said it makes shooting "automatic" I meant it makes it easy to access your manual preferences! I'm sure with your bajillion cameras you know all the photography things. But yes, do it, lotsa fun!

    • @Grumpygrumpo
      @Grumpygrumpo ปีที่แล้ว

      Biggest win for your wallet though. People who dont know shit about digital think its lesser than film when its not; its simply a little different. In a lot of ways, digital is better overall. Film is only better if you like the look of a certain film that youre unable to recreate via post processing. If you don’t have a favorite, digital wins unless u shoot medium or large formats

  • @NPJensen
    @NPJensen ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Aww, so sorry to hear about your Sony Cyber-Shot not working. Those cameras are great. I have one with a 6mp sensor, that I really like.
    But if you know me, you know one camera is never enough. I picked up an Olympus FE-115 and a Samsung S760 (a cheap plastic Cyber-Shot clone if you ask me). They both use AA batteries, so no new chargers! (Yay).
    I did just order a cheap Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 after coming home from work (I blame Ali from One Month Two Cameras for that one😇), so that's yet another charger for my growing collection.
    That being said, I have taken no wow to not shoot film for a whole month - my daily film carry at the moment is my Nikon L35AF with a roll of Fuji Superia 400 😃

    Shooting digital for a month is not much of a challenge though, as most people in the world are shooting digital all the time anyway. 😉 I hope to see more film contents again after this month has ended … hahaha … so many interesting new films out recently, waiting to be tested. As for an example, the new Washi X film, best to developed as slide film.

    Tbf, the Canon G series always were for very serious photographers, just the one step removed from professional.
    When you talk about 'digicams' in your Title, most people would think of cameras like the Ixus, Cybershot etc compacts.
    The G-series Canons are hefty lumps, not remotely fit in your pocket, or what most people would consider as 'point and shoot'.
    Maybe you're being a bit snobby here. A good photographer would appreciate the mass market cameras for what they are, and take it from there. Always good to remember that lots of those Ixus cameras cost upwards of £200 - £300, and that's nearly 20 years ago. For the average Joe, Josephine, and other they were a huge advance over film cameras in terms of usability, and in photo quality comparison with 126 format cameras, Instamatics etc.., light years ahead.

    why not just use your phone?

    • @LucyLumen
      @LucyLumen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are happy with your phone then go for it but i find it hard to use as camera and i just don't enjoy it as much as a dedicated camera. I find it hard to frame and the flash doesn't anywhere near as cool as it does on these digicams! Each to their own though a phone is great if it suits you. Thanks for watching

    Now find yourself a Canon Powershot Pro70 or Pro90 ....

  • @orestes1984
    @orestes1984 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Poweshot G2 were the first cameras that showed the average digital cameras could be an alternative to film. I still have some shots on my Flickr account that showed me how good that camera is. Given that it has a CCD sensor it tends to handle noise a bit better than CMOS sensors. You won't really use it above ISO400 but still that is about the average limitation of film. It has a great lens.
    If you were into different lenses they also had an adapter that allowed you to mount screw on converters and in spite of that it didn't stop with just the Canon ones, you can also get others from Olympus, etc... Although you may have to use a converter to get them to fit, they sell them from China on ebay and it's usually just a couple millimeters difference.
    People rubish screw on lens adapters... but you might like to explore them... They don't lose as much image quality as you would think, and you can get some extra length on the telephoto end which might help you with close ups. There are even diopter lenses which work exactly the same as they would on any other camera giving you a "macro" functionality.
    www.dpreview.com/reviews/canong2/5
    The video is probably the limiting factor of these cameras.... It'll do 320x240 VHS quality video and that's about it... Which was fine for the time when separate video cameras were still a thing, but your XT-4 will do a lot better... as will an 8mm film camera really...
