Loved the video @ProfNCognito! Can't wait for the next video man! So from what I remember, the Pumpjacks are Actually the Units that you see out in Oil Fields on Land like in Texas, California or along various Rivers like the Natchez in Mississippi. The Oil Rigs (Aka Oil Platforms) are What you See over Off-Shore Oil Fields like out in the Gulf. So what you probably need to do First is to build an area where the Rods can be Fed to the Drill Head, then you need to figure something out for the Feeding and Recycling of Slurry, then figure out a way to Distill the Oil to get things like Diesel and Gas as well as to Load them onto Vehicles and/or Ships to transport them to your Various Bases. Also, there's a Drill site just South of the Starter Base close to St. Andrews Hospital.
A couple of things to note. there are more than 4 spots to drill. but you need to purchase survey data to find them. or just drill and hope you get lucky
@@ProfNCognito heading home from delivery route. Really look forward to your videos on this. I feel like you're one of the few people who could explain it as well as it needs to be
Just done a quick test, and an interesting feature of this update beyond drilling is that the diesel furnace can be used to make oil (diesel) fired steam ships and trains. Only did a quick test and it blew up the boiler quick as I was throttling on the diesel and it looks like it needs to throttle on the air (the furnace has its own substantial diesel capacity). The electric furnace too can be connected to a boiler, although I can't see that being as usual for vehicles.
Tutorials are so good, explaining the smallest detail and why it is needed. Shame none of that is in Stormworks. What we get is fog, in the world and in the head. But, hey, it'll be figured out despite all the hand-holding, no doubt! Hmm, what? Me, sarcastic? Never! Except on Sarcday. Which is whenever.
The distiller thing says currently collecting But it collects nothing It needs to be refining something to collect something, it will tell what it's collecting, jet fuel or diesel
I just meant that The distiller always says currently collecting When it's collecting something it will precise it, diesel or jet fuel, depending on height

Yeah I noticed that after I posted this. Good looking out.
I understand your confusion, but so far it seems like everything I had hoped for.
Fingers crossed for hydraulic fracturing next
no im super excited just having trouble understanding what to do with 11 new parts

I'm still trying to put a rig together. Hopefully will have a "dummies guide to drilling" soon.
Spent two weeks making a tanker just for this
nice one!
Is it public?
Yes
@@ProfNCognito oh I meant the ship he was making
@@ProfNCognito btw you know that black small/medium sized tanker in the thumbnail of the update on steam, do anyone know the name of it

Nice!
That's cool!

Lol
Ahh, that's a relief that I'm not the only one not getting how this works
everyone is confused
I have the power of USCSB explanations
I also had the same issue with the missing drill head on land. Find a solution for that?
The distiller thing says currently collecting
But it collects nothing
It needs to be refining something to collect something, it will tell what it's collecting, jet fuel or diesel
not sure i understand your problem?
I just meant that

I've been trying to figure out the oil update since it came out, I still dont understand it.
I should have a tutorial in the next day or so that hopefully helps.
I just finished my tanker last night but I’m going to be so confused how do we make an oil drill?
Everyone is still trying to figure it out. Lol
damn that was fast
This sounds so mind-bendingly dull. I give it 2-3 weeks before no one ever touches it again.
EDIT: Oh god, those parts are ugly.
lol
This is update will be interesting
our savior
ok but do i need the dlc?
I think if you want to drill on the desert lsland you do. But there are the oil rigs and the arctic. Haven't fully looked into this yet.
Your videos are awesome if you continue you'll be up there ☝️🤩🤩
thanks!
I don't understand a damn thing about this update lmao
none of us do yet! lol
Fast, but not fast enough drop!
5th LIKE i guess.
