Fun fact: The German name for the 'earth worm' is 'Regenwurm' which literally translates to 'rain worm'. It's literally named like that because you usually see them after a rain storm.
And they call raccoons “laundry bears” because they wash their food before they eat it and it looks like they’re washing clothes.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that it's hemolymph (which, while functionally the same as blood, is technically different), since I think tube worms have an open circulatory system

when i was a toddler, my mother told me this... after a rain, i would go outside, pick up the worms that were on the concrete struggling, kiss them then put them in the dirt... I felt bad watching these worms slowly die on the concrete, so that was my solution, lol....

To anyone on the fence about worms, they barely even scratched the surface of what I think is the most interesting group of worms: Annelids. While earthworms are interesting in their own right with colorful and/or large variants (for colors my favorite is the fried egg worm and for size the longest earthworm measured was 21 feet long), the most interesting annelids are the ones that barely ever get discussed.
While still well known, leeches are more interesting than you'd think. Some are colorful, they can have anywhere between 2 and 10 eyespots, there are terrestrial variants that move by grabbing the surface with their mouth and anus, and some aren't parasitic and instead swallow other worms whole.
Some worms are filter feeders like the Tube Worms mentioned in the video. Most of them feed with feather-like appendages which in some species have eyespots, they are aptly named Feather Worms. Another example are the Christmas Tree Worms that have two filter feeding appendages that resemble christmas trees and have eyes in their gills.
Some of these worms even superficially resemble arthropods (spiders, crabs, bugs, etc), having mandibles, antenna, eyes and/or rudimentary "legs". Some of my favorite examples are the Bobbit Worms which snatch fish and pull them underground, Sea Mice, Ragworms, Bearded Fireworms among many, many others.
I didn't even touch on some of the other interesting groups of this phylum (bristleworms, spoon worms, peanut worms, etc), let alone the other really interesting worms out there like velvet worms, arrow worms, ribbon worms, penis worms, lancelets (close relatives to vertebrates) and so on.
I keep worms as pets, kind of, vermiculture/wormbin :)
Fun fact: years back, we had a cat named Jingle. One day my dad was busy planting in the flowerbed and found an earthworm while Jingle was snooping around the yard, so he decided to see what Jingle would do with it.
Jingle, being Jingle, decided it looked like nice snack - so he ate it.
How about the Alaskan Bull Worm?

That last segment about worms, cleanliness and immune diseases kind of makes sense. I've often said, let your kids go play in the dirt and swamp water. Me and my sister grew up in the woods, playing in the trees and dirt, eating wild thimbleberries and blackberries, catching water creatures with nets from the pond and stuff like that. We rarely get sick. Its the people that religiously disinfect Everything that seem to get sick most often. Their immune systems never get exposed to anything and when something finally makes it past their disinfectant barrier its a strong one and they get sick. Let all the weak viruses in also. Let your body learn how to deal with them. Then when a stronger one comes along, your body has an idea of what to do. You might get the sniffles for a day or 2 but the person disinfecting everything is going to get a full blown flu.

Who knew a worm would cause so much destruction to an underwater city
I raised an absolute massive amount (between 2000-8000 when I had to leave) of European earthworms for about a year-year and a half.
I started doing so to help break down compost, generate rich soil, and to sell them (the soil and worms) gardeners, and to fishers.
I had to travel across country due to a severe family medical emergency, but while there I was in my own accident causing me to lose my job (at first it was supposed to be temporary but after needing 6+ months of recovery it became more 'real') followed by an additional medical and financial emergency with myself, and another medical emergency with my family which really was the absolute last strike to getting my jobs back. Oh and this job was mostly unrelated to the worms - I started dealing with them on the side both as a personal project for my own enjoyment, and to generate a bit of additional income while using my own passions for biology.
I gotta say, I was surprisingly devastated to lose all my little wriggling buddies. I still want to start over and go for it again when I'm able to scrape together enough to afford another medium/large setup. This goal is a bit further away, especially now due to the social distancing and whatnot.
Anyway, worms can be cute lil wriggling guys, I miss ya my friends.
I also miss the small ecosystem that formed around them, including a small family of birds that settled next to my front door. They started out skiddish but after a bit they too became quite friendly, even coming up to me to eat little treats.
It was a pretty enjoyable little situation.
As a fan of fishing (or more importantly relaxing by the water) round worms for the win!

Nothing like going to sleep like listening to a video about worms and ads.
I used to regularly walk home down UK paved streets in the rain in the middle of the night. Most of the streets here had small front gardens with low walls between them and the flagstone-paved footway: When it rained I had to be careful where I trod, because all the snails and slugs would spread out over the wet stones, but they were quite randomly distributed. The earthworms, on the other hand, emerged from the right angle between the vertical walls and paving, and the stretched out to full length at 45 degrees to the wall with only the tip of their tails remaining in their burrows. I used to walk to town and back most nights--about 3 miles each way--and I witnessed this many times. From what SciShow says, I'd imagine that the stretched themselves to full length, both to get a good wash, and to maximise their skin area for absorbing oxygen. The snails, on the other hand were just maximising their grazing while the going was easier with the extra lubrication.

I've eaten tube worms that look just like those. In US Samoa they are a popular delicacy....they call it Pacific caviar, and smear it on rustic crusty bread or pitas with some smoked pork (island boar) sliced thin and sometimes a malage of minced herbs green onions and something green that tasted bright and sour.

Heartworm infections can also be fatal in cats. If you have a cat, your veterinarian can give the cat a topical medication that kills fleas, ticks, and heartworms.

Regarding memory: I read somewhere that an experiment showed that behaviours learned by monarch butterfly caterpillars were retained through metamorphosis and manifested in the butterflies. This despite (as far as we know) the caterpillar body is completely disassembled into a kind of soup in the chrysalis before reforming as a butterfly. How can this be?
