Vegas was so calm and focused. Florida became frustrated and let their heads get in the way. Vegas had so many outstanding players with outstanding determination. Bruce Cassidy was also a major part in Vegas. CONGRATULATIONS GUYS, YOU DESERVE IT!
Maybe Florida, next season , will realize that the key to winning is to put the puck into the opposite net NOT tripping , slashing , charging , starting fights ect ect thugs always finish last ..Congratulations Vegas ...
@@RangersGirlJackie99 He still helped Vegas finish 1st in the conference setting them up well for the playoffs and gets a cup just like every backup who dresses for the finals.
@@andersalstrup3077 Doesn't matter, those are the rules. There are players who have done more than win five regular season games for a cup winner and had their petitions denied by the NHL.
Moved to Vegas in 86! Seen this City grow. Stanley Cup or not, these boys brought family's together kept us Vegas strong in our low times. Vegas will have their backs win or lose. Congratulations VGK Hats off to Florida! True Warriors.
I'm so happy to see Jonathan Marchessault not only hoist the Cup, but also get a ring because he used to play for the Lightning and I've always had love for him. As for all this hate for the Golden Knights, I don't really get it. There's no way anyone, including even the most optimistic Golden Knights fans, could see what happened in their inaugural season coming. I figured they could make the playoffs in '18, but I never thought that team was a legit Cup contender at the time. The roster mismanagement that helped fuel their rise along with Matt Murray's emergence making Marc-Andre Fleury expendable aren't the Golden Knights' problem. I can't stand how some people think that the NHL handed the Golden Knights what amounts to a golden ticket.
Are you absolutely sure you're not mistaking Marchesault for Jonathan Drouin? March played for Florida, funny enough. Drouin was the one who played for Tampa Bay.
It’s easy to dominate when you didn’t face nearly the amount of adversity as your opponent. Florida had to go through virtually the best 3 teams in the league to get to the finals. Much like last years lightning, the panthers were too banged up to play effectively. Meanwhile there’s always 1 strong team in the west that strolls into the finals beating far worse teams and wins it all. The west is garbage, Vegas is pretty good though.
Oilers fan here. Congrats Vegas. We know that the oil are in tough to get to a cup final. As somebody else pointed out, hockey is a team sport where, unlike basketball, having 2 superstars doesnt guarantee success. It is more about chemistry, teamwork, depth, goaltending, injuries, coaching etc. .again, good job Golden Knights, you earned this!
I'm looking forward to a friendly playoff rivalry between the oilers, because honestly I said when it was oilers vs Vegas that whoever won this series would win the cup. Whether it was the oilers or us, that was the real Stanley cup championship tbh
@@garypeterson5436 I dunno man, this is maybe arrogance to say this, but to me it felt like the Oilers and the Knights were the only teams left that were champions like you said. Sure enough past that series... I don't want to disrespect Dallas too much but you know.
I started watching hockey in 2017. Living in Oklahoma there isn't much to cheer for (wouldn't be caught dead with a Dallas team). I really wanted to be invested in the sport as it was new to me, Vegas was new, figured they needed fans! That first season was wild, picking a new team, learning the game, seeing them go to the end JUST to come up short. I stayed loyal, learned as much as I could, and all these years later it's paid off! Ordering my champs shirt tomorrow! I wanted to thank you for providing analysis that I just wouldn't get on my own, giving a new fan a deeper understanding of the game!
I am from Vegas, was a Kings fan growing up in Vegas as there wasn't any sports period. Just recently moved to Oklahoma In December, figures i move and they go to the Final and when. lol i drove from Ardmore up to Stratford looking to watch the game to no avail. Sat in my Car on the side of the highway Cheering for the Hometown team on an internet cell phone radio app, better than nothing i guess. Been a diehard VGK fan since day one ' Vegas Born". But i will admit when they play The Kings i dont watch the game...
As a Vegas local and a VGK fan, 6 years ago, we weren’t a hockey town, nor did we have any sports team. In a time where our city needed healing, these guys came in to heal our city, doing the unthinkable, and for them to win last night was absolutely amazing.
you could put a team anywhere, if you rig the game with an expansion draft, no taxes and gambling everywhere of course you're gonna win. this league is a joke. "we weren’t a hockey town' you're still not. people follow the team because they win bets.
@@dixonhill1108 you can say what you want. I admit, I wasn’t a hockey fan, and most of the city thought that having a hockey team was a weird idea. But when Oct 1 happened, the Knights came to be the light to our city. The knights mean more to our city, beyond hockey.

@@addesigncntr2708 you missed the playoffs once in 6 years, and off the bat were a contender. you're hockey fans when your team isn't winning. it's like during the world cup, obvious you have a ton of tag alongs.
I respectfully disagree. Vegas has been a hockey town for much longer. We had two minor league teams I am from the East so this was an eye opener. A friend of mine, her son graduated high-school and went to play for University of Denver. "Really?" This was at least four years before the Knights were a twinkle in Foley's eye.
As a Minnesota fan, in the last ten years, I have seen Chicago win the cup twice, the predator make a cup, the blues win, the stars make it to the cup, Colorado win, and now Vegas win. They had to wait six long years and I’ve been waiting 23 while watching my rivals win the cup
When I was younger, I lived in Philadelphia. I was there during the first of the Flyers back to back Stanley Cup wins in the 70s. They haven't won since!
I had to wait 18 years to get a home team in Vegas and 6 more years to see them win. So if u really think about it, I have also waited a long time to see this final. Vegas fans had nothing really before this
@@vegasrenie yea but Philly has also got championships in other sports recently. The eagles are gonna be good for a while. Many people also forget the fact that we got our original team moved bc of the owner getting caught having relations with his employees by his wife, so essentially we’ve been waiting for a cup as long as Toronto has
Buddy, as far as 90s/00s expansion teams go, you and I, as a Preds fan, are in the same boat. Quite frankly, I'm still a little pissed about the new expansion rules that ultimately catered to this juggernaut of a team that has seen the SCF twice in six years and has consistently led its division or the conference in much of that time...all despite firing a coach/GM and possessing the capital to shed quality players with viable replacements. It's a slap in the face to the expansion teams that came before with far less talent, skill, or assets to utilize.
I’ve never looked forward to watching a hockey game before until I just so happened to watch game 1. That block by the goalie from Vegas was absolutely insane. That one play got me into watching the Stanley cup final which I would have never done before.
I'm a Vegas native. Mother is from Boston area. Father is from Arizona.. I grew up not really having a home team, so once Vegas got a hockey team, I was hooked instantly. Beforehand, I rooted for the Bruins (still do), but as soon Vegas started to sell merch I got some. I'm a proud Knights fan and was happy when we got Cassidy as a coach. The man is amazing. This team means the world to Vegas. They came when we had the largest mass shooting in American history. They lifted us up and we're forever lucky to have them. Go Knights Go!
As a Leafs fan who has enjoyed watching Vegas come into the league with such a strong start, I'm glad to see them take the Cup. It doesn't hurt the team largely consists of Canadian players, but it is mostly comprised of heart and soul guys that will leave it all on the ice. Comparing Vegas and Toronto it is so clear how far away we are from winning the championship. Stone > Tavares, Hill > whoever Toronto starts, and playoff Eichel > playoff Matthews. I wish my team could learn from this season and try to build towards something similar. Congratulations Vegas, it's a well earned and well deserved Stanley Cup win!
Great points. It is so obvious, seeing Vegas as a successful template for success, and comparing them player by player with the Leafs? The Leafs got exactly as far as their true composition allowed them to get. The difference and the contrast between the two groups of personnel is enormous. WE saw a winning team this year full of grit, toughness, willingness to buy into a system, and guys with huge heart up and down the lineup fully willing to sacrifice for a greater cause. Toronto does not add up to this at all. Little flashes of individual and personal and selfish stardom, thinking about a big payoff down the line on a different team that can win them a cup - the Eichel move. But hey, I don't hold that against him. Buffalo is a train wreck. That makes Toronto look special. So you have to sell it to a bunch of guys, not a superstar among them, to care about those jersey colors, and do it with pride. That is a tall order to take all the way to a cup. I'm glad Vegas won. I was not at all a Florida fan. Whatever I suspected about them was proven to me at 0.00 of the third period in game 4. Game 5 seemed like divine retribution, after that one.
I think something can be learned from Eichel. I have several friends who are Sabres fans and all they could do was say how happy they were that he was gone. He comes to Vegas, is no longer the focal point, no longer the captain. He just needed to come in and contribute to the rest of the team. He did that. Then he bought a wig and some cheesy looking glasses, and turned the post game locker room into a bonding experience. He was a cancer in Buffalo, because Buffalo was cancerous to him. Are expectations of the "Core Four" too much for the guys in Toronto? Is four too many? That´s something Toronto´s new GM is going to have to figure out...
Hamilton will never get a Pro Hockey team......cuz then Toronto would want one. LOL..its the same old story...why build a team?..the place is packed every night.
As a new fan of Hockey…. And a Vegas resident for 6 years….. the first season of the Knights meant more to the city than anyone outside of the Vegas Valley could ever know. We love our Knights. GKG!
I get what you’re saying but I was in Vegas for the wsop for a week and talked to several fans and barely any of them even knew the names of the players lol. I’m from Edmonton and knew more about the knights then people from Vegas . I mean congrats and all but y’all are fair weather fans lol. Y’all were blessed with an expansion draft that favoured u over previous expansion teams . Where you’re team got to pick from more players then past teams . You guys have no idea what it’s like to suck lol. If the knights were as bad as the coyotes there wouldn’t be any fans ….
Oh yeah, means a lot when you only support a team when its winning. If you don't understand the sport, you guys are cap cheats/tax cheats and cheated with the expansion draft.
@@MrJaymac87you act like all knights fans don't know anything about sports. You know that a lot of knights fans supported other teams before the vgk came to the city? Also, other sports exist. All the while, I was hoping they'll remember the 58 of Route 91. Congrats, VGK. As a Wings fan living here in Vegas I am a bit tinged with jealousy, but really and truly and deliriously happy beyond measure for the whole city. You earned it. Absolutely earned it.
It was disappointingly lopsided, but the Knights deserve it. The whole "rigged" talk is ridiculous on all levels because you know they wouldn't be saying that if it was their favorite team hoisting the Cup. It will be interesting to see who the Knights retain for next season.
I’ll always have 2016 to hold on to, even though we lost to the Pens in 6 games. I never say it is rigged at all, because it sure as hell isn’t. You never know at all, it’s unpredictable.
Not a fan or any NHL team. KHL is a better product. NHL's inept officiating is American Football NFL levels of bad. Vegas got a lot of calls going their way.
North American sports fans are generally forget that pro sports is a BUSINESS. There's no rule against a sports team fixing a game outcome if they really wanted to. I'm Not saying the NHL fixed it here for Vegas. But to say all 4 of North America's major sports leagues wouldn't fix an outcome once in awhile or at all is extremely naive. Especially when we remember the 1919 world series, the 2002 NBA western conference finals. All it takes is a few referees (company employees) to make a few calls here, a no call there.... And it can tip the scales in a team's favor.
I'm a Buffalo fan since 1971 made it the the finals twice and lost. I have loved Vegas since they got into the league. Eichel is my favorite player I'm so happy he got to hoist the Cup after all he went through in Buffalo.
How can you hate on Vegas? This is hockey is to be played...tough, fast, unrelenting forecheck and pressure, precise passing, true teamwork! It was incredible to watch!
Because they handed the NHL $500million in exchange for a playoff team (Cup finals actually) right out of the gate….something no other expansion team in history was given. George McPhee did a great job and I respect that they remain a top organization but I’m not going to fault somebody for feeling resentment towards them given that it’s an undeniable fact they were given preferential treatment like no other expansion team in sports history.
@@axe2grind244sour grapes. Vegas took the NHL establishment cast offs and built a team. Tragedy brought them together with a singular focus and they likely over achieved in year one. As predicted in year six the Knights dominated and won the Cup! #GoKnightsGo!!!
@axe2grind244 this is such revisionist history BS it's absurd. Nobody thought they were gonna be anything but rock bottom after the draft. Multiple sports people said they'd be 31st in the league. Now it's they drafted a playoff ready team, lol. It's just pathetic now.
Vegas was the team that finally made Bob look normal. They figured Bob out and alongside that, Officiating not allowing Panthers to borderline murder their opposition, managed to show how Panthers were carried this far by both Bob and Chuck. Always winning with one goal difference, winning into overtime, etc. Sure, they went 4-1 and 4-0 on the East, but that REALLY doesn't translate how lucky and dominated they were throughout the playoffs. The better team actually won this time and I'm happy for Vegas. Side note: Goudas and Chuck being dealt what they have been dealing felt like revenge. Would love to see Chuck not actually get injured on that CLEAN HIT, but it is what it is
I'm a Canes fan, but Panthers are my 2nd team. I knew Panthers wouldn't win the final series considering how close it was against a horribly injured Hurricanes team. Non of the major commentators really know what the Hurricanes playstyle looks like when they are normal, and Canes really padded the stats of Bob by shooting muffins from the blue line. I thought Vegas in 5 or a sweep.
By all the analytics, Carolina was actually the better team throughout their series against Florida. But the last time I checked, whoever scores the most goals always wins, statistics aside. Translate: Bob had to stand on his head to get Florida to the finals and he did exactly that, I think it may have been expecting too much for him to carry that level of play into the finals and indeed his play faltered against Vegas leading to Florida's defeat
I'm a die hard Kings fan who lives in Vegas, so I call it like I see it. Vegas was the best team. Just so the rest of you know, Vegas is a hockey town. This is the franchise this city is behind. If you're a hockey fan, you should embrace this. The city handled last night with class, and people were having fun. I don't like the Knights for obvious reasons, but the team, and the city earned this. Another team to hate, and worry about only helps the sport. They've set the bar on entertaining fans inside, and out of the arena. If you hit the burbs here in Vegas you see Knight gear all over, all year long. From Corporate, to small business owners, from 1 year old to 80 year old, it's everywhere. Good for Vegas, good for hockey. It's hard around here to not smile as a hockey fan seeing so many embrace the team and wear the merch. If you're a hockey fan, this is what it's all about.
As a Knights fan I appreciate your unbiased views on our team and the game. I look forward to your commentary next season when VGK REPEATS!!!! GO KNIGHTS GO!!! #StanleyCupChampions
As soon as it was announced that Vegas was getting a team I was immediately on board, then their inaugural season they didn't finish the magic. Then this year happened and they did it. So stoked for the city, so stoked for the Misfits. Go Knights!
corporate bullshit hockey club. the criminality behind the creation of this team will be a smear on hockey forever. of all the people who attend regular season vegas night games, only 237 actually lived in or near vegas. most people in this comment section loving vegas only jumped on board the ban wagon when they were given an all star team from day one. worse than national tom brady fans.
Good for Bruce, from a Bruins fan. Panthers were definitely physically down and out in this series, injuries galore. Also big thanks to this channel for bringing the best breakdown videos of the NHL on the entire site. No other channel is like this one, and I can't wait to see what future videos brings.
Vegas is the only reason I'm paying attention to hockey. I'm born and raised in Louisiana. We don't do hockey down here. When vegas got a team 6 years ago and I saw them make it to the finals, I decided I'd root for them. I didn't watch any game that year and haven't watched any until this year during the playoffs. For some reason I watched the end of the college championship game and thought it was exciting. So when the NHL playoffs started and I saw vegas was in it, I decided to watch. I even watched other teams play. Hockey is way more exciting than I thought it would be. I'm glad vegas won and now I'm a fan for life. They dominated the whole playoffs and especially the finals. If they won in 7 games and most were close with a ton of bad calls, then maybe I'd listen to people crying, but when they dominate 3 of 5 games and the only game they lose was by allowing a tying goal with a little over 1 minute left and then lose in overtime, yeah I don't want to hear it. Florida had no chance. It should have been a sweep. Congrats vegas. You deserve it.
Your analysis is spot on. While the Panthers earned a trip to the final, they were unable to adjust to Vegas style of play. Thus a dominant series that was a joy to watch, although quite one sided.
Honestly I find it rather cool that they got their first cup in 6 years after being founded. It's a story kinda similar to the Avs tbh. The Avs never won a cup when they were the Quebec Nordiques but right after they moved to Denver, they won their first in franchise history.
This is a complete team from top to bottom. No true superstars perhaps, but so much quality and a winners’ mentality. Florida was given way more help than the Knights in the playoffs. They just didn’t retaliate and let the dirty Panthers dig their own grave. Though as you rightly say, Vegas were much the best throughout the playoffs. Florida dud beat three of the top 5 teams, but Edmonton and Dallas were legitimate Cup contenders too. Congrats, Golden Knights.
As a Sens fan: Stone wasn't a misfit we/the team didn't want. Eugene Melnyk didn't want to pay him for a long term contract like he was worth, so he got traded, and frankly, it was just a huge gut punch to a lot of fans. But I'm proud of Stoner going on and captaining a team to a championship. Always knew he'd stay great wherever he was, I'm just a bit sad its not in Ottawa.
The VGK mean a lot to Las Vegas. Not only because they won the Stanley Cup, but for what they represented to our city after the October 1 mass shooting. I, for one, appreciate our “misfits” for their talent as well as their heart! 💛💛💛 #VegasStrong
@@DTT420 different scenarios. The VGK team started playing as the first born-in-LV pro team right after the hotel shooting spree. It was a point where the community could come together.

I remember the "supergroup" roster Detroit put together in 2001-2002 including Chelios, Hull, and Hasek. Illitch didn't even try to hide it - it was widely known he wanted another cup, and he would get whoever he needed to do it. The salary cap came into place during the 2005-06 season, so we're surprised that, almost 20 years later, a team has figured out and used a workaround? I'm no Knights fan, but good on them for getting it done, and with several of the league's left-behinds. I mean, you can't blame them; the Bruins were predicted to be the Chosen Ones all season, and they got ousted in the first round. It's hockey, stuff happens.
im a vegas local and a knights fan. when i saw florida beat boston i was rooting for them while watching the eastern conference games. sadly that had to stop once they started playing vegas. was neat to see them rally back against the best team in the regular season and move on.
Florida should hold their heads high, regardless of how the final went. Your boys battled all the way to the end and were just to spent. So much respect for them and the fan base
Yep. FLA had an amazing run these playoffs. They took out the three top teams in the East and made it look pretty stinking easy. I just wonder if they lost just enough of the edge during the long layoff between the ECF and the Stanley Cup Final. We’ll never know.
European here. I'm more the Blackhawks fan since early 90s - I watched the playoffs and in nearly all stages Vegas was the better team. Florida just came in luckily, meeting a bad Dallas team with no ideas. Vegas was winning also when they lost games ^^ No heads down, just pure power and force. They earned it.

You have to be proud of your team, the panthers had sensational series against Boston, Toronto and Carolina, maybe it’s not the last final for the panthers, the team is good!😊👍🏼
As a Bruins fan I'll be honest, I'm actually glad Florida knocked them out, because losing in the finals to the coach you just fired would've been about the most painful experience ever.

I got to go to the first game against Winnipeg (lol). I said before last night's game that I think they'd need to replace the roof before next season starts.
I was outside the arena ontop of the NYNY garage when Stone scored, the crowd was electric all through out the game, The crowd was at its lowdest etheir during stones hat trick or The Diying seconds.
I come from Binghamton, NY (where coincidentally Stone started his pro career). I've seen minor league hockey for nearly 20 years and seen a lot of these guys begin their careers. The bottom line is this: Florida got cocky and let their frustrations out. Vegas got into their psyche with skill and patience. That will DOOM a team. I've seen it so many times in the minors and that's what it looked like for Florida. They looked like a frustrated AHL team. The Panthers have themselves to blame and Vegas was poised and ready. The better team won. And I'm super proud to see Stone and the Knights lift that trophy. ❤️
Wow! Thank you for the information about our beloved Captain Mark Stone! I retired from Lourdes Hospital and moved here three years ago from Binghamton. My son has always been into hockey, but me not so much until this Season started. I am absolutely hooked and love our VGK! Well deserved win of Lord Stanley
Not sure which "NHL Fans" you hang out with, but if there're "not ready" to hear that a clearly better team won instead of absolutely insane conspiracies, I don't think they'll EVER be lol. Makes me think of people from the Tor bubble who think that they have a team good enough to win the cup each year. Complete madness. ;
People need to give credit where credit is deserved they brought Vegas together after route 91 they showed up to every city event and people can hate all they want but VGK played lights out hockey and it’s hard to argue that when you look at stats and either way Vegas doesn’t care what people have to say cause the cup is in Vegas
As panthers fan, this hurt. But Vegas outpaced and outplayed us every step of the way and they have waaay more depth. Injuries aside that’s an excuse and you guys earned that trophy. Good game knights, hopefully we meet again or we make a good playoff run again soon.
@@EdBball99 I always find it exciting to see a brand new NHL cup holder, plus, Vegas is already a party city, imagine how much harder the city will party now with Lord Stanley in tow.
As lifelong Las Vegan, I thought getting a pro team was the pinnacle. But winning the cup and being there to see it live was one of the coolest moments of my life.
You can't talk about this without the context that Vegas was almost 14mil over cap cause of LTIR shenanigans, assisting their depth throughout the playoffs even if the ones suiting up are under cap. You also need to account for Panthers being in an off year with multiple injuries and dead cap space. Next year was supposed to be the Cats year; the fact they made it this far this year with their cap situation and lack of depth is a miracle.
Everybody needs to find the excuse...sociologists have well documented this. The 3 who shared the Nobel prize called it "phase-1", which is the emotional that doesn't progress to the intellectual-"phase-2". It's essentially adults stuck in childhood adolescence. It's also why you are you and won't become a Bill Foley.
Florida dominated three excellent teams in the playoffs with their fierce forecheck and physically punishing system. They took the focus away from winning to surviving for their opponents. It didn’t work with Vegas who played Florida’s system better than them. Congratulations to the Golden Knights. CMN.
First, I'd like to extend a paw to Florida, they had a remarkable playoff run. Even as a fan of the Golden Knights from their inogural season, i can understand the hate. There have been some players like Marc-Andre Fleury and Max Pacioretty who were done dirty by management, and I'll agree that the Hague goal should have been called back last night. However, some calls go your way, and some don't, Vegas VS San Jose in 2019 anyone? In this series Vegas was truly the better team. Their forward depth was unmatched, their D-core is arguably the best 6-man unit in the NHl. Aiden Hill was quite the Cinderella story, and the Knights simply were able to do what no other team could this post seaosn, make Bob look human. Teams taking advantage of the salary cap is a fault of the league structure. When cap circumvention tactics are allowed, teams take advantage of it, just like tampa Bay did before Vegas. Vegas started out as the expansion franchise hero, now they've lived long eough to be the villian.
I thought overall the playoffs were amazingly entertaining. Remember when all the experts unanimously said it would be Edmonton vs Boston in the Finals? We had a lot of great upset series. The only thing that would have made it better is if Seattle could have lasted one more round to face Vegas. Florida's run was just epic, even if they did fizzle out after a 10 day layoff.
Vegas was hated before any of those things you mentioned though. But because people are embarrassed to admit that they didn't like Vegas from the start, they move the goal posts and say "well we hate them because of salary cap stuff and because of the gold helmets." Yes, you loved Vegas up until that point. I absolutely believe you.
I remember seeing a lot of support for them in year 1 when they started doing really well unexpectedly, because it was cool to see the underdog do well. Evidently that got old for people real fast when they started routinely outperforming every existing team, then add in the flashiness, gold helmets, trading fleury without telling him etc and it's just icing on the cake for people to solidify why they hate the team that is just better than theirs
They also hate us because this team got a lot of people such as myself into the actual sport of hockey here in Vegas. The goal post like you said keeps moving. But we knew what we had was special since day 1 here in Vegas. Let them hate, I honestly welcome it.
I liked Vegas the first year; I know they got the most beneficial expansion roster selection in the history of the sport but I liked the idea of an expansion team doing so well their first season. I started to get annoyed with Vegas because of the Vegas fans acting like they were a original 6 team or something; like hockey had been in vegas for 50 years and they paid their dues. That got annoying. When they pulled the crap they did with Fleury, trading him to Chicago without telling him, I thought was a garbage move by the management. But what finally did it for me was when they got that 5 minute major in the conference finals against the sharks. When the GM sent an official letter to the NHL bitching like a little girl about that and the vegas fans acted like they were robbed. I decided then it was a crap organization and a crap hockey town. So fuck them. The NHL caters to the money towns. It is the reason why Chicago got the number 1 draft pick with Bedard (if you think that was chance I got a bridge to sell you), I am Hawks fan but even I can see that. Vegas gets an edge from the league because of money. More money to be made in Vegas on hockey then west of fort lauderdale.
@@patrickthomas2119 I mean, its not like hockey was never in Vegas before hand. We had the Thunder and the Wranglers. Both of those teams were doing well until their venues tripled the cost for the team to use them.
Treating it like a business is what is diffrent now. When Vegas let Fluery go people were pissed, but it was a business move and people got over it. All sport teams go through the same thing. Loyalty or winning. I dont agree with it, but that is what it comes down to. The owner is a business man first and a fan second.
Florida rode Bobrovsky the whole way and once his hot streak was gone, the team was done for. Florida doesn't get out of the first round without his tremendous play.
As a Habs fan from Province of Quebec, hoping for a hockey team in Quebec City, I'm not envious at all with this Stanley Cup win. Las Vegas fans showed love from the start and the organization have been very professionnal. The team kept up growing and improving as a group, without superstar (except for Eichel). One could say that few teams did the bad choices not protecting Marchessault or Theodore, but who know, maybe they would have blossomed with less ice time in their previous teams?. Bringing great impact players like Stone and Pietrangelo was very smart as well. Stone was the best Ottawa player in playoff. So, I like this organization a lot, and Las Vegas is one of the most vidited city in USA, so fans from everywhere can watch a game there as well against other teams. And based on this Stanley cup final, it seems like Kraken was maybe the second best team in play-off this spring because they gave Las Vegas a hard time. So, building your team with great, talented and dedicated players seem to be better than built around one or two super-talented players (Edmonton).
Of course 5 different goalies all season and holding on to 1st place home ice advantage was hardly mentioned. Bettman’s plan was using Hill, the backup goalie to beat Edmonton and Dallas and to win the Finals? Brilliant!
Gary Bettman and the refs scored all those goals for the Knights, and they also played defense and goalie too! 😂😂😂. So f’in ridiculous, it’s nauseating at this point. Jealous fans will say whatever they have to, to make themselves feel better. Vegas Golden Knights 2023 Stanley Cup Champions!
Born and raised in Vegas we can’t be more happy for our knights winning the cup were a city that came from nothing to now being champs we extremely grateful for our hockey team because they don’t just Bring hockey to the city but a sense of community to us all
😂😂😂 True! Because I worked at the County at the time, I knew about the Knights before they first put their skates on ice in the Fortress. They were wonderful and amazing with the community after 1 October. Vegas fell in love with the Knights and it hasn't dimmed a bit!
Flat out the truth!!! Good for Vegas they def are the Stanley cup team for this season and came to win (but should've been the AVs ... which we all can say about whoever is your fav team) ... The reality is that this final should have had the knights and the bruins ... but, the NHL "rigged" it for the Panthers to come and make a fool of themselves. Rigging can go either way because plain truth is that the Panthers should never have made it this far. Congrats to the Golden Knights, you've earned this one! Go AVs!!!
I don't get this complaint about the league "fixing" the outcome. Sure, you can have bad referees; but, Vegas was so dominant in that series that they shut down the Panthers. In game 5, second period, while Florida had a strong start to the period, there were two shifts where Vegas hemmed in the Panthers that they couldn't change (period of the long change) while Vegas was able to swap out their players. Both times, that lead to Vegas goals. That's not on the refs - that's on the Panthers. Congrats Vegas on claiming Lord Stanley's mug. You deserve it.
Stone's goal was the plan on how to beat Bob. Wait until Bob commits then shoot high. Secretly, I was hoping the CS for our Captain. Great for Marchey though of course. The natural hat trick against EDM was huge!
I think Cassidy making sure each forward line had a good duo was a great strategy. Eichel/ Marchy, Stone/ Stephenson and Karlsson/ Smith gives three lines of legit skill coming at you. Allows the third player on those lines to really excel. It showed against a team like Edmonton, who couldn't compete without McDavid and Draisaitl on the ice. Obviously not easy to get so many good players, but it eased the burden on top stars and depth players alike
Very well said!! I was initially disappointed in my team (Winnipeg Jets) & rightfully so... but knowing now that they lost (so swiftly in the 1st round) to the Stanley Cup champions I'll gladly admit; there's no shame in that. Great breakdown
As a Knights fan, I'm sorry that your team might go through a rebuild. One of the best fanbases in hockey and you guys deserve more. I hope it all works out for you guys
@rainman88 thanks I appreciate it. It's been a rough couple of years but I'm optimistic about a rebuild anyways. Alot of new young talent on that Moose squad just waiting to metaphorically take the reigns! Congrats to Vegas bro
@@jizzaymz I appreciate it. It's honestly better to be terrible for a few years than be middle of the pack. I hope you guys get the next McDavid or Crosby and dominate, unless it's against the knights of course
I am right with you "6 long years" is laughable compared to other teams. I as well am a Caps fan and glad we got the cup in '18 rather than them congrats to vegas on the cup.
Can people just be happy for the winners… every year after the finals the fans of different teams are fighting in the comment section of every corner of the internet. As habs fan and a hockey lover… both team during the series played with everything they had and left it all on the ice. The players were scoring like crazy and they were stepping up their game. that was beautiful. 💕
What I don’t understand about the “rigged” comments constantly being made is…if it truly was “rigged,” wouldn’t VGK have won it all during their first season? It makes no sense. It’s disappointing to see their hard work discredited.
I been a Vegas fan since their first season and i am so proud of them. Florida would of been nice to win but Vegas was the better team this year. Way to go Vegas and Florida, come back and do it again and win next time!
@@MattAlbie it would be great but I don't see it happen. Watching him move around the net I don't see a hint of the athleticism required to be a great goalie. He simply doesn't have the talent! That's why I can't believe Holland made such a huge commitment to him?????? Maybe I'm wrong but time will tell. Cheers 👍 Also Bob let in 9 goals in game 5 and got pulled multiple times. Not really that great!
I was at the tail gate party and man what an epic experience. Their fans are quite knowledgeable about the game. As a Flyers fan I could only wish we could build a cup contender but Danny Briere gives me hope! Keep up the great work! My favourite part of the playoffs was when the Leaf fans were yelling: “ WE WANT FLORIDA! “ Even the Vegas fans were yelling it at the tailgate last night !
As a franchise, we did not have to wait long at all. However, as a city and community we have had to wait 33 years since our last championship (UNLVBB). Vegas was used as leverage in other sports for teams to get stadium deals and then finally we got the Knights. I understand the hate/jealousy but I'm on cloud nine right now! Go Knights Go!
BINGO. How many times were we told, Vegas will never get a professional sports team? How many times did a team float the Idea of moving to Vegas just so they could get a better deal where they were for a new stadium. Fans outside of Vegas dont realize this, but it was heart breaking to be a pawn for so many teams. Its why the Raiders still arent truly liked here because Vegas was the pawn for a new stadium, and Oakland called their bluff. Its the same for the A's Oakland called their bluff and now they want 400 million for Nevada to be their 2nd place winner.
@@Hated_Sien Yes absolutely. Take your billionaire charity case elsewhere. There was a whole god damned book and movie about how shitty and cheap your team is run.
Said so perfectly. I’m a Vegas fan so I’m happy, but to many people take to many things out of context if you really watch the full games it make sense and yes I agree there were calls missed both sides
people are forgetting that Vegas have always been contenders, always been strong and always sold to improve. Florida only started to become a team to watch 2 years ago, last year they added Tkachuk and although that may have been the “missing piece ” to a lot of people, it didnt turn out that way. He showed his lack of control and experience post season and after that you were left with that “team to watch ” again Vegas who have consistently been dominant. Its babyish to not acknowledge Vegas' result, if it were any other team, you would. The problem is that a lot of people didnt like Vegas coming in and drafting well, didnt like Vegas having a team of “not so great” players who then did better than their team. Then people didnt like Vegas getting to the final year 1 for the same reason. Caps beat them and everyone said “ahhh, FU Vegas” because it was great having Ovi lift the cup, and the Caps are “more deserving” because theyve failed to lift it for longer. But then Vegas made the play offs every year since. Until they didnt, then it was “wahhh, FU Vegas” again. Now they win everything with 6 of the original “nothing”players, ONE superstar, a Vet defenceman and a 4th round pick keeper trade from ARI and people are still bum hurt about it. They're worse than your team, but theyve done better, shouldn't matter if theyve only been here a second.
The Bruins are actually fortunate they lost to the Panthers in the 1st round by not delaying the inevitable, as they would also have been smoked by this Vegas team if they had gotten to the Finals. Boston had scorers and talent, but not enough grit. A great regular season team but these days you have to be geared for the playoffs. Lacking enough grit and tenacity caused them to lose to the Blues in their last Finals appearance. Bruce Cassidy and his team showed that the best revenge is winning, while others whine.
This series was so fun to watch! Vegas with their fantastic gameplay and outlandish stadium celebrations. Panthers with their general ferocity and outlandish shenanigans. At the end of the day, even though I decided to root for the panthers after my team got knocked out round 1, I'm really happy for the Golden Knights and their incredible hockey play proves just how deserving they are to be holding the Stanley Cup! The Avs will win it back someday and until then game on!
You are an incredible writer, understander, producer and video maker. I have to tell you -- it's TOP NOTCH. Truly stellar -- keep it up. You'll grow bigger than you could have hoped for next year. Congrats
I'm so sick of traditional hockey market elitists thinking that every championship that isn't in a northern market is bad for the sport. Hockey is thriving in the Sun Belt, which is a good thing, because that means that the game is growing. That's what we should want as hockey fans. This Stanley Cup is now the first ever Stanley Cup won by a desert market. This is amazing for the sport. Vegas is everything Arizona should've been.
@@hockeyaddict7007 I’m not saying you’re wrong but I will say that me and my family have been watching the panthers since ‘07 (and my dad since ‘95) without missing a single game
Also more kids are playing hockey in Vegas every year and this adds to the fanbase long term. Right now we are out of ice for youth hockey because of the demand. There are plans to build more rinks but we are out of ice at 7 sheets.
@@hockeyaddict7007 This happens with most fanbases in general. Nobody wants to spend hundreds of dollars of tickets just to waste several hours of their limited free time watching a dumpster fire rip their heart out every night. When the Blackhawks were bad, the fans also disappeared, and nobody batted an eye. But when a southern market does the same thing, every suddenly loses their minds. Remember when everyone said that Carolina should while completely ignoring that they won a Cup in that same building with a sold out crowd less than 20 years ago? That unsurprisingly, aged like milk.
as well, panthers decided to play a hard hitting game, they said that repeatedly. Had no problem going out there making the hits. It takes a toll on the players, esp well they have ramped it up during the playoffs. Certain incidents cause injuries, but the way they play leads to a proclivity towards injury no doubt. So they run the risk of being without players if they have to play a longer series. Its a calculated risk. And it didnt work, and they were outplayed by a smarter team better team. btw Vegas isnt my team but they played well.
I remember when expansion teams would be crap for years. Now they dominate the league right out of the gate. The difference is the caliber of players being available to draft. They aren’t built out of AHL players anymore.

Yea as a knights fan I love seeing a good sport and not a salty person cause they lost
And at least the leafs got past the first round lol

By the time they played Vegas, they were riddled with injuries. But that’s just apart of the sport
By all the analytics, Carolina was actually the better team throughout their series against Florida. But the last time I checked, whoever scores the most goals always wins, statistics aside.
Vegas: WE WAITED 6 LONG YEARS FOR THIS.
Vancouver: 😭 it’s been over 50.
Fr complaining about 6 years the most deluded thing I’ve ever heard
Every Canadian team is on a 30+ year drought and all original 6 teams have had to wait 20+ years for a cup- a bruins fan.

Well that and they had some major injuries. And never discount the amount of time off the Panthers had.
Shows how much you know hockey. Must have been nice to play a 14th place team to get to the final. Silver platter
I just moved to Vegas in Jan. Didn’t miss a game since the all star break. Great team!
Honestly I find it rather cool that they got their first cup in 6 years after being founded. It's a story kinda similar to the Avs tbh. The Avs never won a cup when they were the Quebec Nordiques but right after they moved to Denver, they won their first in franchise history.
Golden Knights proved to be the NHL Kings by the quality and character of their play.
Congratulations! 😊
As a Vegas fan here in Vegas... we don't care if no one likes us, we're too busy having fun
I'm stoked that Vegas won and I'm not even a Vegas fan. just hate the state of Florida and enjoy seeing new teams win
Proud Vegas fan since day one🔥. Thank you guys for this amazing journey.👏🙏
Relatable
This is a complete team from top to bottom. No true superstars perhaps, but so much quality and a winners’ mentality.
Florida was given way more help than the Knights in the playoffs. They just didn’t retaliate and let the dirty Panthers dig their own grave. Though as you rightly say, Vegas were much the best throughout the playoffs. Florida dud beat three of the top 5 teams, but Edmonton and Dallas were legitimate Cup contenders too.
Congrats, Golden Knights.
I don’t get how anyone could say it’s rigged, 9-3? Like you can’t even make that up
As a Sens fan: Stone wasn't a misfit we/the team didn't want.

Perfect comment👌
That's extremely insensitive to the parkland school shooting that happened 5 miles from the panthers stadium.
@@DTT420 different scenarios. The VGK team started playing as the first born-in-LV pro team right after the hotel shooting spree. It was a point where the community could come together.
Reminder, the people saying it is rigged have hated Vegas since Year 2 or are Panthers band-wagon fans. No intelligent person is calling it rigged because they actually watch the Knights play as you said, "like a well oiled machine."
I flew thousands of miles to see this game live and it did not disappoint
Panthers gave me an incredible 3 series of play and we simply were outmatched
im a vegas local and a knights fan. when i saw florida beat boston i was rooting for them while watching the eastern conference games. sadly that had to stop once they started playing vegas. was neat to see them rally back against the best team in the regular season and move on.
They had an unbelievable run. Sometimes you get beat by the better team
& that’s it.
Florida should hold their heads high, regardless of how the final went. Your boys battled all the way to the end and were just to spent. So much respect for them and the fan base
Vegas deserved to win for sure, however I feel like injuries massively hurt Florida. However, that’s just how the sport works
Favorite moment - the joy on Stone’s face when he got hat trick

Makes me think of people from the Tor bubble who think that they have a team good enough to win the cup each year. Complete madness. ;
I'm not a Vegas fan but I'm pretty happy to see them getting Lord Stanley.
Why?
They are a well rounded TEAM...bigger,faster and stronger than anyone else.
@@patrickthomas2119Lol bro
Brilliant!
"Bettman's plan"....haha love the sarcasm!
How do you rig a game of chance? When you shoot you dont know if the puck is going to go past the goaltender or not.

Go AVs!!!
Just wanted to say that I’ve loved your vids this season. Easily became one of my fav TH-camrs. Can’t wait for more content!

Aa a Dallas Stars fan in NYC, since 1993, I'm relieved we lost to the eventual champion. Vegas was too good!

As a franchise, we did not have to wait long at all. However, as a city and community we have had to wait 33 years since our last championship (UNLVBB).
Florida had 3 heavily injured players and we just couldn’t hold on
The Bruins are actually fortunate they lost to the Panthers in the 1st round by not delaying the inevitable, as they would also have been smoked by this Vegas team if they had gotten to the Finals.

Awesome commentary, thank you for being honest and fair. Go Knights Go🎉
I really appreciate the recognition of iffy calls, while at the same time showing how strong Vegas really was.
The teamwork was BEAUTIFUL and they were just soooo kick ass and so much better than every other team. They deserved it INCREDIBLY, no competition!❤
Bergeron called it from the start. He said and Quote. "If Vegas hires Cassidy they're going to win the cup." Thanks for the Congrats
4:31 uhhhhhhh those original organizations literally couldn't protect them unlike previous expansion drafts?
Mark Stone another great Canadian player who got it done. 🤗😎
I remember when expansion teams would be crap for years. Now they dominate the league right out of the gate. The difference is the caliber of players being available to draft. They aren’t built out of AHL players anymore.
