8:46 Is that Angel Hernandez f'in up post season calls back in 2003 ? The man's a menace. Odds are if a bad post season call was made the last 20 years... Angel Hernandez was near by.
As a Red Sox fan, it was two of the best ALCS's in the 2000's, 2003 and 2004, each seven game series. It was physical, tense, and you had brawls, 2003 hurt, Yankees were physical in 2003, and 2004, Red Sox were physical. Baseball needed this, best in Boston, since the Celtics-Lakers in the decade of the 1980's. Red Sox-Yankees, Bruins-Canadians and Celtics-Lakers. Great rivalries, and Red Sox-Yankees is always number 1. I will say, to all the Yankee fans, congrats on what your team has done. I was happy, to see the Red Sox win it all, and it's all done, and over with.
As a Yankee fan, I can say 2003 was a great great high, but it doesn't match up to the low in 2004. 04 hurt a lot more than how good 03 felt. Yankee fans may have been laughing for 90 years and 26 WS, but Boston got the last laugh. Even if the Yankees would (they won't obviously) start a 3 peat championship run this year, I would still feel like Boston will always have that over us
@@str8kronic Disagree. The 04 series is only ONE series. The Yankees won two ALCS against the Red Sox in 1999 and 2003. You figure the Sox had to win at least one.

I agree with that, as 2003 Red Sox had Yankees beat. As a Red Sox fan, it hurt for a long time, but I was counting the days for 2004 to happen, as it was redemption. Worst Collapse of the rivalry was Yankees blowing a 3-0 lead.
If you look down at the bottom ticker, we were down 1-0 in the series. The curse was still alive. 86 years in counting. Generation upon generation came & went without seeing a Red Sox championship. We lost 10-7 but it was much worse than that. They couldn't won that game in similar fashion to Game 3. It's really amazing and mind boggling how we came back in that series.
Whole focus was the Yankees, as the Red Sox never forgot 2003 ALCS, as it was worse since 1986 WS, 1978 AL Playoff game, as it hurt against Yankees and Mets. Red Sox changed it all in 2004, with winning it all.

Yankees fan for life. I hate the sox. But everyone needs to keep it in perspective. Passion is good but when it turns into violence and disrespect it isn’t worth the entertainment anymore.
Anyone else wish the red sox beat the angels in the 2009 alds to meat the yankees? The rivalry that year was great, but it needed that play off intensity to match 2003 and 2004.
superdragon4ever I do. The Yankees would have steamrolled past the Sox in 4 or 5 that year. But the Angels themselves were looking to avenge their previous defeat to the Sox.
You mean a guy who cheated with steroids, was ejected from a ALCS and playoff game he pitched in & threw a shattered bat for 0 reason at Piazza. Clemens is the Urban Meyer of baseball tries to be a bully & when someone stood up to him he immediately got defensive.
It’s hard to believe Damon even made it off of the DL after the collision with Jackson in the ALDS. If that were today he’d be out for the rest of the season
This was the last time that the Sox-Yanks rivalry was great. Shame that the Sox couldn't win that game 7. All those star players from both teams. The 2004 Sox team was a little too happy for my taste and that 2004 ALCS wasn't that exciting for me even if it was a 3-0 comeback because with the exception of games 4 and 5, none of the games were really fun to watch. The 2003 ALCS was more competitive and way more fun to watch. You could feel the energy.
It was really satisfying for me that the Yankees didn't win the 2003 WS because of Red Sox ALCS lose. More satisfying was that pinstripes even didn't went to the WS next year because my team won 4 games in a row with a 0-3 comeback and winning the WS after 86 year drought.
This series was awesome, the only thing that taints it is that the Yankees didn't win the WS and the Red Sox embarrassed them the next year and won the WS. I believe the Yankees spent all their energy on this series and had nothing left for Florida.
@@truthhurts9415 I know you are trying to be condescending and all, but yeah I don't need to Google it, I was alive at the time and watched it live. The Red Sox were just as formidable as the Marlins were. Yankees also had no business getting as far as they did in 2001, but they got very lucky hits in key moments. 2003 Yankees had no heart playing the Marlins, they didn't get those lucky hits. They used all that angst against the RS, it was like winning a heavy weight boxing match. You can hear all the players describe how this series felt. It felt like the WS to them. They left it all out in that ALCS. When they got to the Marlins, they were just flat and uninspired. So, they got dominated. Not saying they would have won, but they should have put up a better fight.
As of 10-05--21 in 4 postseason games vs boston In which the Yankees were facing elimination none of there starting pitchees made it out of the 4th inning or gave up less then 3 runs. Only the combination of mussiana and Rivera In relief and Grady on steimbrenners payroll kept them from being 0-4 in those games.
8:47 Lol good call Angel Hernandez on the Todd Walker HR. Lol not how is that guy a ump he's the RF line ump he says foul & Tim McClelland who was behind the plate saw the ball go clearly off the pole. Hernandez does it every year.
The funny thing was how the Marlins totally smashed the Yankees capped off by Josh Beckett big deal Yankees beat Boston but in 2003 but failed at winning the ultimate goal.
THIS was the series that felt like the bragging rights were the biggest. The fight in Game 3. The back and forth games. The ending in Game 7. Was worth losing the the steroid sox of 04 just to experience this journey.
The intensity of those 2003-2004 ALCS was the best I had ever seen it really helped Boston in 04 cause when they beat the hated Yankees the Cardinals & the World Series were a cakewalk with intensity. Oh & Yankees Suck!!!
A rivalry is not 26 wins Yankees 0 wins Red Sox. That is historically a beat down unprecedented. Glad they got over the hump in 04, but that does not take away 86 years of loss. Some sox fans lived their entire life with no win, no way 04 makes up for that.

Stupid move by Grady Little not to take Pedro out after throwing well over 100 pitches. Such a stupid decision, and any manager with a brain knows to go to the bullpen. It does not fucking matter how badly ur pitcher wants to stay in the game, u have to play smart baseball. After he left Pedro in the game and Pedro gave up another hit, that should definitely have been it. Little cost the Sox this game. Had he gone to the BP earlier, maybe the Sox could've won. Horrible baseball managing!!!
All that hype and then they got their asses kicked in the world series. And then 2004. While this may hurt a red sox fan. 2004 will forever haunt the yankees forever.

Yankees fan for life. I hate the sox. But everyone needs to keep it in perspective. Passion is good but when it turns into violence and disrespect it isn’t worth the entertainment anymore.

@@djdefinite1634 lol.
Someone needs to fix the volume of this video. I have to turn my laptop volume to 100% to be able to hear it.
Sure but it meant something, at least to me, to beat the Angels after the 02 and 05 ALDS
As an Angels fan, I would have rather the Angels beat the Yankees
Give me a break with the Zimmer in an ambulance crap. He was back at the park in About 12 hours...
44:37 Bottom Line reads off Game 1 of the 2004 ALCS
This was when it was first aired. I have this taped too on the exact same day.
What rivalry. Sox got lucky once in over 100 years. Yanks have been pounding on them the rest of the time.
I would love to see another pitcher like Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez.
You mean a guy who cheated with steroids, was ejected from a ALCS and playoff game he pitched in & threw a shattered bat for 0 reason at Piazza. Clemens is the Urban Meyer of baseball tries to be a bully & when someone stood up to him he immediately got defensive.
@@patrickgray5633 that’s exactly what I miss. Throwing shattered bats at someone
It’s hard to believe Damon even made it off of the DL after the collision with Jackson in the ALDS. If that were today he’d be out for the rest of the season
Does anyone know the name of the music that starts at 19:30?
this alcs games were better than the ws
Much better! The 03 and 04 ALCS were the greatest baseball series I've ever watched.
8:50 Angel Hernandez at work.
Google the Marlins 2003 World Series roster and get back to me.
@@truthhurts9415
I know you are trying to be condescending and all, but yeah I don't need to Google it, I was alive at the time and watched it live.
Marlins were tough in 2003. Red Sox, I believe would have beat them.
5:44 they got contreas and arod. We got pearce evoldi and ninez somehow we got the better deal
4:08 how about winning a 100 games and losing the division by 8?
The funny thing was how the Marlins totally smashed the Yankees capped off by Josh Beckett big deal Yankees beat Boston but in 2003 but failed at winning the ultimate goal.
Red Sox got payback in 2004.
@sean1672able111 yes in historic fashion.
can someone please tell me the song that is playing during game 6? I have been looking for it forever and still havent found it after all these years
Darude - sandstorm
Detroit needs another WS championship
unless Indians fall apart somehow not until 2019!
Jim Jim, we can beat Cleveland! Just gotta have faith in the Tigers
They actually need another team!
12 :37 lol routine double play ball but they make it sound like jeter made the greatest play ever
THIS was the series that felt like the bragging rights were the biggest. The fight in Game 3. The back and forth games. The ending in Game 7. Was worth losing the the steroid sox of 04 just to experience this journey.
8:50 Angel Hernandez
Tim McClelland was farther away & he saw it Angel Hernandez up close blew it as usual.
Old yankee stadium is so much better than that corporate trash they call home now
That shot of ruth in a redsox uniform at the end? Today it should be a reminder hes a redsox legend...not a curse.
Challenger the bald eagle trying to decapitate Jeter is classic
The intensity of those 2003-2004 ALCS was the best I had ever seen it really helped Boston in 04 cause when they beat the hated Yankees the Cardinals & the World Series were a cakewalk with intensity. Oh & Yankees Suck!!!
Heh have 2004 alcs game one score running on the bottom
It will be a long long long time before the Yankees are anything but a wild card team that chokes in the post season again.
18 years later Ben and Jen are back together but the Sox have turned the tables on the yankees...
If only Pedro was a Yankee and Clemens was a Red Sox
Esa fue la mejor leccion a los yankes
Mariano Rivera # 42 ⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾
3:58 yeah nettles especially when your fucking gm is running his mouth DO DAMAGE
Mmm my favorite part is aaron Boone making clemens to be a hero when he knows he is a joke.
Pedro and Manny were human garbage
Clemens made sure he didn't hit manny but did enough to set him off. And Jeter whispering in rogers ear right before hmmm...
A rivalry is not 26 wins Yankees 0 wins Red Sox. That is historically a beat down unprecedented. Glad they got over the hump in 04, but that does not take away 86 years of loss. Some sox fans lived their entire life with no win, no way 04 makes up for that.
Sure it does.
@@notoriouseagle1074 yea, the outlook of historical loosers.
2004 eliminated it all. Worst collapse in the history of the rivalry was yankees blowing a 3-0 lead, which was fabulous.

As a Yankee fan, u are 100% right. 04 hurts way more than 03, and even 09 feels good
It sucks. As a Yankee fan we wont ever he able to get over it. But 27 titles helps.
The yankees haven't ever been the same since 2001, because that's when they went downhill for them.
@@inutero10but 2004 will haunt yankee fans forever and ever. As a Red Sox fan, always knew they would win a championship. 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2018, always proud of it, with the 9 Time Champions. Red Sox will get more championships. I do see the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry gone.

boston sportsfan96 funny thing how he's like fans who forget he started so much crap in his career A's 1990 threatening to kill a umpire, Yanks Jays he almost got taken deep then next pitch he drills Scott Brosius benches empty, then he drills Piazza & if that's not enough he throws the bat at him. Yet he starts nothing ever screw his steroid using ass.

Why does Grady Little sound like Forest Gump?
the ONLY Red Sox I can respect is Dustin Pedroia
Nobody cares
Apparently you do if you have to say something about my comment

damien hunter As a Red Sox fan who feels the same about every Yankee fan opinion, fuck you
Should be a new Curse. Of George Streinbrenner. Yes, he deserved to be hated. But Yankees have not BEEN to a World Series since 2009 and George died June 2010, the folliwing year While Red Sox and Astros have been to alot of them since (each won Two World Series). Evne the Royals and Rangers have been to World Series TWICE.

1:42 wow thats convient...so the 5 titles the sox won when the yankees sucked dont count? Or the 1904 pennent that the yankees choked away on a wild pitch?
Red Sox
33:58 now the gosts haunt the yankees
Yankees are a much better team
The Yankees beat them in 2003 but lost to them in 2004 and Boston got lucky went to the world series 2004 2007 & 2013
Luck was on our side in 2004, but as a Red Sox fan, they did it. Added championships in 2007, 2013 and 2018.
@@sean1672able111 yes and as a Yankee fan I have to admit they did great and beat everyone they played against winning all 4 world series it was the red soxs time to reign and reign they did
