8:50 Angel Hernandez at work.
The Yankees MVP for this series was Grady Little I was at that game 7, all I remember was watching the ball fly in the air by that Aaron Boone homerun and just everyone going berserk. And I missed school the next day cuz me and my dad got home so late from that game. Good times
Should be a new Curse. Of George Streinbrenner. Yes, he deserved to be hated. But Yankees have not BEEN to a World Series since 2009 and George died June 2010, the folliwing year While Red Sox and Astros have been to alot of them since (each won Two World Series). Evne the Royals and Rangers have been to World Series TWICE.
Bring me back…
24:34 love that theme song. Encouraging me to have faith for my Yankee team.
i love this story when Yankness put the Redsox to shame but it was a great series to watch
37:54 boone moping i nt he dugout is perfect foreshadowing for his yankee managerial career 😂
😲😲 it 20years where did time go. Was still in military 🪖🪖🪖🪖🎖️🎖️ 🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️ getting ready for IRAQI Freedom WAR. Family was Alive well. Now Retired from Corps in 2009 Family has Pass on now it just me at 55 I have Osteoporosis beginning of MS. See u Soon family.
The funny thing was how the Marlins totally smashed the Yankees capped off by Josh Beckett big deal Yankees beat Boston but in 2003 but failed at winning the ultimate goal.
Red Sox got payback in 2004.
@sean1672able111 yes in historic fashion.
8:44 can someone explain to me how Angel Hernandez is still employed he’s the RF umpire he blows the Todd Walker clear HR that Tim McClelland whose behind the plate saw & rules correctly that is unforgivable that Hernandez is employed by MLB.
I don't think the Yankees and the Red Box and the Yankees and Red Sox fans will never Like each other they'll always Hate each other 2 of the high schools Central and Stevens in my city Rapid City are rivals too just like the Yankees and Red Sox Central and Stevens high school Dislike each other
8:50 do my eyes deceive me? Is that angel hernandez blowing a call? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 But for my money. The best series ever played. Even the 04 series the genesis, the foundation was laid here. In 04 the Yankees up 3-0 thought they had it in the bag, a lot of it due to THIS series. They thought the curse was real. For the Red Sox 04 was about more than 86 years. It was about redemption for the year before. Without this series the comeback in 04 doesn’t happen. Imo the greatest series ever played.
I'm a New York fan and I have to say the 03 and 04 ALCS were both great series and also many great players and a lot of hall of famers between the red sox and yankees and I have respect for the red sox and yankees players that played in both series and I have respect for red sox nation and their fans
As a Red Sox fan, thanks.
@@sean1672able111 Your welcome
@@sean1672able111 You’re welcome
@chadbaughman401 going to be a while tell the rivalry is renewed. Red Sox have to rebuild immediately.
Esa fue la mejor leccion a los yankes
Roger Clemens has annoyed me for so long going back when he was a Red Sox. Who the hell gets thrown out of a playoff game for threatening to kill a umpire & his kids, who throws a broken bat at a opposing player & claims he thought it was the ball????? Clemens is a total asshole!!!!
8:46 Is that Angel Hernandez f'in up post season calls back in 2003 ? The man's a menace. Odds are if a bad post season call was made the last 20 years... Angel Hernandez was near by.
nothing like it in sports at that time, it was intense
Anybody know where I can get Jon Millers call with better sound? It’s so much better than Joe Bucks call.
Better than rangers Devils 1994
I’ve literally been searching for this for 15 years. Thank you!!
As of 10-05--21 in 4 postseason games vs boston In which the Yankees were facing elimination none of there starting pitchees made it out of the 4th inning or gave up less then 3 runs. Only the combination of mussiana and Rivera In relief and Grady on steimbrenners payroll kept them from being 0-4 in those games.
Give me a break with the Zimmer in an ambulance crap. He was back at the park in About 12 hours...
'Like the hall of famer he is' Oh poor ignorant aaron...
Clemens made sure he didn't hit manny but did enough to set him off. And Jeter whispering in rogers ear right before hmmm...
Challenger the bald eagle trying to decapitate Jeter is classic
18 years later Ben and Jen are back together but the Sox have turned the tables on the yankees...
You have to be either a Yankees or Red Sox fan to really undersrand how deep this rivalry is and understand the importance of the games when these two teams meet.
@45:38 He's chanting "Yankees suck", while wearing a Yankees jersey?! He must've been drunk! LMAO
The Yankees beat them in 2003 but lost to them in 2004 and Boston got lucky went to the world series 2004 2007 & 2013
Luck was on our side in 2004, but as a Red Sox fan, they did it. Added championships in 2007, 2013 and 2018.
@@sean1672able111 yes and as a Yankee fan I have to admit they did great and beat everyone they played against winning all 4 world series it was the red soxs time to reign and reign they did
@@eddieq2189 thanks buddy. I've dealt with bully yankee fans, who would brag about championships, as I got tired of it. Red Sox won for all the Red Sox greats and especially Red Sox fans.
@@sean1672able111 Thanks Buddy I appreciate your reply I've never been that type of Yankee fan I've always respected teams that work they're way to world championships & pennants ,wild cards slots and go from there no matter what team that is Yankees are what they are history clearly has it marked down for the record books in my opinion there's no need to throw it in people's faces that's disrespectful and unprofessional
@@eddieq2189 your welcome. I've dealt with rude Red Sox fans and Yankee fans. I'm proud of the Red Sox finally winning the championships
Yankees suck? when they have the most World Series? Okay Boston has won 4 in the past 2 decades and the Yankees 1 during those 4 Red Sox titles. But the Yankees won 4 in 5 years. I think the Yankees are the better team all around.
@breadandcircuses8127 Hahahaha. Not a fanboy. I'm a Brewers fan.
@@DIDDYKONG916 but yankees suffered worst collapse in the history of the rivalry. Who cares about the yankees?
Yankees / Red Sox games are really World Series games of the alcs!!! And if you don’t win that series it’s devastating 😂
A rivalry is not 26 wins Yankees 0 wins Red Sox. That is historically a beat down unprecedented. Glad they got over the hump in 04, but that does not take away 86 years of loss. Some sox fans lived their entire life with no win, no way 04 makes up for that.
Sure it does.
@@notoriouseagle1074 yea, the outlook of historical loosers.
2004 eliminated it all. Worst collapse in the history of the rivalry was yankees blowing a 3-0 lead, which was fabulous.
Yankees fan for life. I hate the sox. But everyone needs to keep it in perspective. Passion is good but when it turns into violence and disrespect it isn’t worth the entertainment anymore.
Shutup
@@djdefinite1634 lol.
As a Chicago fan, I enjoy this rivalry.
I would love to see another pitcher like Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez.
You mean a guy who cheated with steroids, was ejected from a ALCS and playoff game he pitched in & threw a shattered bat for 0 reason at Piazza. Clemens is the Urban Meyer of baseball tries to be a bully & when someone stood up to him he immediately got defensive.
@@patrickgray5633 that’s exactly what I miss. Throwing shattered bats at someone
Notice how at the bottom of the screen the scores of the 2004 ALCS are just quietly scrolling by....two stories in one video. Both incredibly huge.
The intensity of those 2003-2004 ALCS was the best I had ever seen it really helped Boston in 04 cause when they beat the hated Yankees the Cardinals & the World Series were a cakewalk with intensity. Oh & Yankees Suck!!!
This series was awesome, the only thing that taints it is that the Yankees didn't win the WS and the Red Sox embarrassed them the next year and won the WS. I believe the Yankees spent all their energy on this series and had nothing left for Florida.
Google the Marlins 2003 World Series roster and get back to me.
@@truthhurts9415 I know you are trying to be condescending and all, but yeah I don't need to Google it, I was alive at the time and watched it live. The Red Sox were just as formidable as the Marlins were. Yankees also had no business getting as far as they did in 2001, but they got very lucky hits in key moments. 2003 Yankees had no heart playing the Marlins, they didn't get those lucky hits. They used all that angst against the RS, it was like winning a heavy weight boxing match. You can hear all the players describe how this series felt. It felt like the WS to them. They left it all out in that ALCS. When they got to the Marlins, they were just flat and uninspired. So, they got dominated. Not saying they would have won, but they should have put up a better fight.
Marlins were tough in 2003. Red Sox, I believe would have beat them.
Old yankee stadium is so much better than that corporate trash they call home now
Those battles had such intensity when the Red Sox got to the series in 04 it was such a breeze St Louis was like a fly hitting a windshield.
8:50 Angel Hernandez
Tim McClelland was farther away & he saw it Angel Hernandez up close blew it as usual.
When Boone hit that homer I went bonkers. Happy to have him at the helm now.
But Dent and Boone can be laughed off, as Red Sox got revenge in 2004 ALCS.
It’s hard to believe Damon even made it off of the DL after the collision with Jackson in the ALDS. If that were today he’d be out for the rest of the season
The 2003 ALCS Was like watching baseball's version of Ali and Frazier...
8:47 Lol good call Angel Hernandez on the Todd Walker HR. Lol not how is that guy a ump he's the RF line ump he says foul & Tim McClelland who was behind the plate saw the ball go clearly off the pole. Hernandez does it every year.
33:58 now the gosts haunt the yankees
That shot of ruth in a redsox uniform at the end? Today it should be a reminder hes a redsox legend...not a curse.
'georgie juiced one' interesting chpice of words johm
2t:15 againa routine play by jeter and the media blows him
'h8m being in his last season' lol boone your a boob. So thankful your the yankee manager and u suck at basketball
