Hi Mark, great to see a new and informative video from you again, I have been following you around the various TH-cam content that you are involved with, and I must say what a nice polite young man you are, I am a 78 year old now and have been retired for over 18 years, I like the way you wait for others to have a say, perhaps Fat Sam could learn manners from you, maybe it just a southern thing. Very best regards from Ray in North East Wales..
Great video Mark, nice twalkthrough of a first fix and what you guys do at that stage. I've not done a full rewire for 10 months now and I miss it a little. As long as the house is empty 😉👍.
Another quality video mate, nice and insightful on the works of a domestic rewire. Looks like a pretty nice job to be fair. Well due an upgrade looking at the intake and board. Tidy work as always fella 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
@@electrician247 You’re welcome fella, it’s odd isn’t it, I spend my days doing exactly this then come on line to watch others do it too 🤣 Always good to see how other people approach jobs and do things, tips and tricks and also know you’re not the only one out there getting covered in dust all day! Nice one mark no one doubts your ability and the value you add to the UK electrical industry long may it continue. In essence what your talking about is applying a risk-based rather than compliance based approach you assume nothing is wrong on the testing side but you all the lashing and potential for future problems early detection and warning saves lives in the long run. It’s something the industry needs to take account of so fully agree with you. This risk based approach is something coming through both trade and non- trade industries. Though understanding what a risk-based approach means does take a very different mindset and understanding and needs to be taught. What coffee are you drinking you do know the freeze dried variety has insects grounded in 😱 that’s why we (the missus) moved to grinding beans ourself. Though as a Yorkie it’s still tea for me….not great tea here in the US we can get British tea now in US but cost 3-4 times.
Your right its nice to do a bit of all parts of the trade it means your lads are all rounders can be put in any situation ,the company I started with did everything from domestic to industrial and fire/security system, great video 👍
Great job! Oval instead of capping and an S-type RCD are sure signs of above-average work! Do you think the existing wiring is original? I'd have expected VIR singles in steel conduit rather than T&E, considering there's steel conduit running to one of the old switches.
@@electrician247 Totally makes sense considering the random placement of sockets on the skirting boards and - as you found later on - maze of junction boxes under the floors!
Thanks for the very informative video - really appreciated. Mark, would it be possible for a review of the Milwaukee cable clip gun in one of your tool reviews? It would be nice to see that in action. Thanks again for your efforts. A question about running cables to lights - on a new installation would it be against regs if the CPC was cut rather than terminated safely? I have seen that in a brand new install and was wondering if it would pass?
Thanks for the comment, very kind. The dewalt stapler is great on new build. I think I demo it in part two! CPCs need to be terminated and connected. Cutting back is not the way to do it.
Great video again Mark, Don't mind doing rewires which are unoccupied like that. It is a good point regarding RCBO's with solid neutral and switched. Do you find having a suspended joist ground floor makes it easier?
Good video Mark. Haven't done a rewire for about 6 months, do about 2 a year. Not sure if you know but if you're using a GoPro you can adjust the settings to anti-flicker Was there any Asbestos there? I go for 35mm where I can as well. Quite a clean place for a 1st fix
Just using my phone (note 20 ultra) No asbestos on this one. Wall paper on the ceilings, client had full test due to strange lagging in loft. We keep it clean, hate working in unnecessary mess and dust. Have a backlog of videos lol. Another 5 rewires and about 10 EV installs if I decide to spam youtube. 2 commercial jobs if I can get permission to release them from building owners. All good fun mainly.

I arent worried about them at all. The line tails on the spd is what worries me. Same as old split load board with line tails. Because of the TT I think its better to have an upfront 100mA time delayed rcd. Probably out of habbit but feels safer to me. Certainly doesnt make it less safe and cost implications are tiny.
What consumer unit did you go for mate ? I’ve got a tt wire coming up normally use sbs boards as there double pole rcbos but looking for something different

No I dont think its original tbh. Probably the 2nd hit sometime in the 70s. Either way owner wanted new. Thanks mate.

I think so mate. Shorter chases on DS sockets.
You could tell Matthew he's getting his pay docked if he carries on giving you grief for skiving 😆😆😆
With it being TT do you not call the DNO to ask if PME is available? I always do and 9/10 times they come and change it.

I’m not sure why you are worried about rcbo N tails in a CU. In the unlikely event they touch bare metal, what danger would it present?

Crabtree starbreaker and rcbos . Seperate enclosure for the S type RCD.

I would agree mate. Matthew prefers this way on 35mm boxes. Not sure why but I guess we are all different!

Very common to have them in floor voids. We found it in the end. Wasnt in the floor void, all revealed in part two.

Fair enough.
