    Just wondering regarding SPDs on TT systems, not so much to do with the short tails but should they be RCD’d on TT anyway as in essence they are a varistor sitting between Line and the TT Earth? Do they do different types of SPD for TN-S, TN-CS and TT? I have seen SPD’s incorporated into isolator switches - I think it is Wylex REC2SPD but I’m unsure if these are suitable for TT should the SPD fail and short L-E.

      534.4.6 discusses fault protection even in the event of an SPD failure. In a TT system the installation of SPDs downstream of an R.C.D. can be made. (see figure 16A2 of Appendix 16). 534.4.7 says that where any SPD is positioned on the load side of an R.C.D. an R.C.D. having an immunity to surge currents of at least 3kA 8/20 shall be used. Type S R.C.D.s in accordance with BS EN 61008-1 and 61009-1 satisfy this requirement

      You can use spds up stream of RCDs in TT but they have to be setup as shown in this article. Its an old one but explains it well imo. Thanks for getting involved in the comments! electrical-engineering-portal.com/surge-protective-devices-spds-rcd

      That’s brilliant thanks, SPDs are something I’m not that up to speed on.

    Very impressed with this install and crabtree board.
    Having no exposed busbar and dp breakers is very nice.
    That install looks top notch, lots of attention to detail and having a good plumber as well ticks all the boxes.
    Great watch Mark

    Hi Mark.
    Nice to see you using flexible cable for the mains supply cable.
    Takes me back to the days of 19.044 & 19.052 cables more flexible.
    Great work

    Nice to see every eventuality covered with the time delay rcd and the A RCBO’s ( never felt the need to put one in myself ) but as you said it's a personal thing and if the budget allows why not👍

    Crabtree have always made class boards,like the way the breakers push in for contact rather then the other boards with the hit or miss busbar 👍

    I got confused with neutral switched RCBO. could you explain it in detail please. I have been installing RCBOs and never came across this term before. is this something only relevant for TT installs? appreciate your content.

    • @electrician247
      @electrician247  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate. Some rcbos do not disconnect the neutral under a fault. In that case if you have an upfront time delayed rcd on a tt install it can also take that as well.
      Newer rcbos have a switched neutral that disconnects when the rcbo operates isolating the fault.
      Hope that makes sense.
      Thanks
      Mark

  • @rayc1503
    @rayc1503 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Can I ask why you decided to use type A Rcbo's in a posed to type B? The light switched in the bedroom installed behind the doors. Were there placed there because the walls are stud, ease of installation?
    I really enjoy your uploads. It's really great that you explain as you walk through the installation. What is you pp for a larger kitchen ring or 2 radials? Appreciate your tutorials pal 👍🏻.

    • @electrician247
      @electrician247  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey mate. The doors are moving around in opening as the refurbishment goes along. So the switches will make more sense then.
      The RCBOs are still type B on the MCB element but are type A rcd as apposed to type AC that was more traditionally used until a year or two ago.
      Hope that helps and thanks for getting involved in the comments.
