Glad he is getting a chance to shine, miss him already.
Not sure what’s so surprising? The wings were carrying too many defensemen, maatta was on an expiring deal playing 3rd line minutes. He should understood that a trade was, at least, possible at some point.
Maatta was traded because Holl petry and at least at the time Gustafson were not tradeable. With any sort of value. If they could move Holl and get a pick for him they would have. Maatta is a serviceable 3rd line lh def that’s easy on the pocketbook. And term ends this year.
@@JackConrad-e4vI don’t disagree with that, but it doesn’t change that what I said was true. One needed to go eventually and he was the most desirable to other teams. That trade was a no brainer
@@seanr.6596yeah I think he was agreeing with you
this west coast road trip against teams they SHOULD be beating will be a nice temperature check for the winged wheel and Yzerplan
Aaaaand they BLEW the first one against Anaheim lol. Look…I think Yzerman has done a solid job given that he’s constantly gotten screwed in the draft lottery. That said…this team NEEDS a shakeup. They need a BIG trade or a coaching change I think. Not that Lalonde has been terrible…the team just isn’t performing, and sometimes they just seem unprepared. THAT is on the coach.
Hmmm... I thought the Wings were your second favorite team...
Oli was the only veteran D man that was marketable, they are making room for some young players, I can see them retaining some of Chiarot’s salary in the next trade. The remaining vets are unmarketable.
He should be happy, Wings will be moving on from more than Maatta. Not gonna make the playoffs and probably fire Lalonde who I thought was a poor choice. I wonder what they work on in practice because were 15 -16 games into the season and they play like amateurs, basic fundamentals are missing.
There's a lot of things I've been through that just happened way too fast. Some of these things I still have yet to fully process. I understand how he feels.
its called trade pitch has red wings adding 92 million dollar defenseman in blockbuster
dont judge a dman by hes points. it does exists defensive defencmen
Honestly it's getting old that every time Detroit makes a trade that it has to be a sob story like some grown a** man got traded an now everyone has to cry because we're all best friends and we'll never be able to hold hands again a read comics together under the blankies at night. It's a professional business and when you don't perform you possibly might get traded. It happens.
He doesn't maatta
Facts
They are 500
The NHL is dying because of all these useless expansion markets. Th e NHL belongs in northern latitudes only.
Why lie?
I'm an old head, but I can't do that to the southern fans. Some of them really are diehards who love the game, and Florida proves that *most* markets will support a well run team. If anything, I think the problem is the culture of the game. It is still broken in a way that dates back several decades, and revolves around dirty hits and the 'punk test.' I think that turns people off, more than anything.
