    Great video, brought back many memories. I and five others climbed the West Buttress route in summer of 1970 using snowshoes and no sleds. Our high camp was at 17,300’. We all reached the summit. I was 20 then.

      Stephen I bet it was a totally different experience in 1970. Super cool, thanks for sharing!

    This deserves a lot more views - nice to see a non-pro/sponsored ski/board climb. Congrats on the epic climb and great video of it. Was crazy seeing you stripping off layers at 7:15 at the top of Motorcycle hill - at that point in June 2017 I was wearing 5 layers and my parka and mitts. Sadly our weather luck ran out the day after we arrived at 14 camp and never cleared up so we topped out at 17 but the memories will last a lifetime.

      Lindsay, thanks for the comment and sharing part of your experience! That’s a bummer you weren’t able to summit. I agree with you though that the memories will last a lifetime. We were all stoked to have the opportunity and good weather to stand on the summit, but I definitely remember everything else in between more. It’s such a privilege to spend any time in the Alaska range, glad you were able to as well. Cheers!

    Hey man, wondering if you guys were the group who summited a few minutes before my 3 man team (plus 2 guides). We went and ate pizza in Talkeetna with the group that summited right in front of us and skied down?

      Haha Frank yes that was us. You guys summited shortly after. The ultra-runner guys?

    What boots were the snowboarders wearing? Thanks nice video.

      Travis, 2 of us were in hardboot set ups with Dynafit boots (TLT and PSG). The other had a softboot set up, can’t remember what it was. I’ve got Phantoms now for my hardboot system and they work great!

    Hoping you see this silly question:) First off, great vid and great adventure! I think I noticed that someone was using ski or snowboard boots to skin up, but also had mountaineers boots on their pack…was this because a summit ski/snowboard wasn’t possible?

      Thanks for the comments! So the thought was based on some beta that the upper mountain (above 14k) wasn’t worth skiing (too icy). We brought both boots in case. So we did some skiing above 14k camp, but ultimately decided to leave them and switch over to the double boots for the summit. There were some people that skied from the summit that day, but it was tough conditions. Hope that helps.

    What company did you do this with? How could someone else do this kind of ski trip?

    • @zachbraddock4745
      @zachbraddock4745  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mountain Trip, based out of Telluride. Bill Allen helped coordinate all of this.

    Did the splitboarders ski down in 2 plank mode with the sleds at the end?

    • @zachbraddock4745
      @zachbraddock4745  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Connor, yes. Some splitskied from Camp 2 to Heartbreak Hill and I splitskied from Camp 1 to Heartbreak Hill. Definitely necessary with how mellow the terrain is at the end.
